- pantuky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You know, I have absolutely no sympathy for McAfee and/or Norton. If you look hard at the stats published by Secunia and others, these two vendors have the lowest efficiency rates and the lowest effectiveness scores. In short, they are worthless and weak and the lemmings out there in consumerland just don't know it. I guess rootkitting the kernel doesn't help.
On the other hand Eset Nod32 and Kasperski have the highest efficiency and effectiveness scores. Neither of these vendors feel any need to patch the kernel to make their software work. Their stuff runs outside Ring-0, and in peer mode. I guess rootkitting the kernel doesn't help.
McAfee is a big stupid dinasaur that needs to find a tarpit. They don't know how to engineer an antivirus solution, and so now they are blaming Microsoft for putting an end to their shenanegans.
