- BroncoKid, on 11/05/2007, -2/+146I feel like I would still end up logging on to learn about some battle in world war I and find myself 2 hours later reading about Janet Jackson's childhood.
- wiifm69, on 11/01/2007, -0/+128Damm, 6,000 entries, those were the days when wikipedia didn't know everything
- codyman, on 11/01/2007, -1/+122wikipedia (2002-06) = how I passed high school
wikipedia (now) = how I pass college while still procrastinating and sleeping in... - strictnein, on 10/31/2007, -5/+83Great... now digg is taking down web.archive.org, which is a valuable resource.
Next time, take a screenshot, post it somewhere, and link to that. - sexybobo, on 11/01/2007, -0/+76that is the main problem with wikipedia http://xkcd.com/214/

- ostracize, on 11/01/2007, -1/+68A free digg for the first person who can find vandalism!
- xYike, on 11/01/2007, -2/+60Wow, someone found ARCHIVE.ORG.
- falstaff, on 11/05/2007, -0/+57Any Wikipedia article worth researching has dozens of references at the bottom. Wikipedia is fine as a source, but it's even better as a pre-made bibliography.
- AuburnTigers, on 11/01/2007, -1/+50that was 6 years ago...
- inactive, on 11/01/2007, -0/+47Thats why you don't tell them its from wikipedia, duh.
- bs0l, on 11/05/2007, -0/+44When he says somewhere, he doesn't mean ImageShack or crap like that. Imageshack = Bandwidth Limit Exceeded.
- DjArcadian, on 11/05/2007, -1/+40Double negatives hurt my brain.

- pingoart, on 11/01/2007, -0/+36"Note: Unless you have the administrator password, you cannot currently edit this page. While this is unfortunate, it has turned out to be necessary to prevent vandalism of this page, which has occurred on several occasions."
Does evidence of vandalism counts? - IEatHamburgers, on 10/30/2007, -2/+35"We've got over 6,000 pages already. We want to make over 100,000."
They were innovative thinkers, but not too visionary... - blackjack75, on 11/05/2007, -0/+33All I can remember is that back then, I heard about the project and said : "There's no way on earth this is ever gonna work."
I am not exactly a visionary, it turns out. - smartalecks, on 11/01/2007, -0/+32There is one on Wikipedia! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Digg1.6.png
- NessTheHero, on 11/04/2007, -1/+33[citation needed]
- chrislee149, on 11/01/2007, -2/+32Most colleges will accept Wikipedia as a valid or credible source.*
Source: Wikipedia. - Firehed, on 10/30/2007, -0/+30Why am I not the slightest bit surprised that Final Fantasy was one of the first 6000 articles...
- KibibyteBrain, on 11/01/2007, -0/+27Well, hes rounding correctly to the nearest decade. Not sure that's the best precision scheme, though.
- ctrlfreak13, on 11/01/2007, -1/+27That's because it wasn't.
- sleeknerve, on 11/01/2007, -0/+26ecarta 95 owns all, i remember playing that game that was included
- Keon, on 11/01/2007, -1/+27Do you mean that trivia/adventure game where you had to explore that castle? That was my favorite computer lab time killer in elementary school!

Famous ancient Greek philosopher. Wrote that thing about the cave. - trogdor282, on 10/30/2007, -1/+20IT'S ALMOST NINE THOUSAND!!!
- T8erT0T, on 11/01/2007, -4/+23Hard to believe you have no concept of the word "decade" or how to round appropriately.
- purpmint008, on 11/05/2007, -5/+24Wow, back then, I wouldn't have even thought twice about not investing.
- tizz66, on 11/05/2007, -0/+19I'm glad I'm not the only one that spends hours getting lost in Wikipedia. Great fun!
- AndrewDB, on 01/10/2008, -0/+19Wait.. Encarta 95 had a game? Oh snap, now I need to find my Encarta 95 disc so I can play it along with Oregon Trail.
/Retro gaming is full of win.. - sexybobo, on 10/30/2007, -0/+15easiest way to find an article on wikipedia is do a google search for the iteam you want then add wiki to the end of the phrase.
ie: search for (toaster wiki) or (digg wiki) or (gregorian calendar wiki) or almost any other topic will always have the wikipedia article with that topic in the top 2 links. - honeymustardn, on 11/01/2007, -1/+16Most decent Wiki articles have all the sources listed at the bottom, so you just need to copy and paste those too when you are C+Ping the whole article ;)
- moskaudancer, on 11/01/2007, -0/+15It's not ironic, it's coincidental.
- inactive, on 11/01/2007, -2/+16Anybody have screens of Digg when it first started out?
- MidnightRIder77, on 10/30/2007, -1/+15"We've got over 6,000 pages already. We want to make over 100,000. So, let's get to work!"
I think they made it to their goal. - dumpling, on 10/30/2007, -0/+13it wasn't even self aware yet.
- markdr123, on 11/01/2007, -0/+13@sleeknerve:
Oh my god, yeah.
I think it was Encarta 97 that had Mindmaze...that game was amazing.
*reminisces* - honeymustardn, on 10/30/2007, -1/+13Likewise.
- G-RaZoR, on 11/01/2007, -4/+15O RLY?!
- moskaudancer, on 11/05/2007, -0/+11ImageShack = extreme suckage
- squirrelza, on 10/30/2007, -2/+13For a website that holds the whole of the interents it sure went down fast.
- zizzy, on 10/31/2007, -0/+11http://web.archive.org/web/20010816142845/www.wiki ...
Haha, they used to call anyone who edited it a Wikipedian. And even more surprisingly they "number[ed] in the dozens." - XXXXXXXXXXXXXX, on 11/01/2007, -0/+10That's why you scroll to the bottom of the wikipedia article and copy the sources from there.
