...dear God. - ATL, on 11/25/2009, -0/+7you seriously don't see a REASON for them to charge?
this is the same industry (with exceptions) that started charging for checking baggage, resulting in too many people trying to bring whatever they can on the plane, which means that my foot space is now cargo space - getoffmybridge, on 11/25/2009, -1/+7Wifi in the sky, I can browse twice as high....
- datcrazydj, on 11/25/2009, -1/+7Some airliners do need the money.
- eclaires, on 11/24/2009, -0/+5I'm traveling on Delta over the holidays - excited I won't have to disconnect!
- Ghostalker, on 11/25/2009, -0/+4Delta's "GoGo" service is pretty sweet. I was surprised when I heard there was wifi on my flight so I logged into it. 72ms ping to Google, it's great for email, IM, etc. Probably not so good for sites like YouTube.
BTW: For anyone thinking of downloading, I tried. It only allows 100kb from any site at a time. I was gonna install Skype and place some calls, but every time I tried to DL it, the download was cut off. - guinpen, on 11/25/2009, -0/+3the connection speed fluctuates a lot, but i was able to watch conan on hulu on my flight. pretty awesome.
- Metalcastr, on 11/25/2009, -0/+3Take a look, in your netbook, reading weblogs.
- schwartzloenard, on 11/24/2009, -0/+2the wi-fi in the sky keeps on turning....
- gogog0, on 11/25/2009, -0/+2i flew earlier this week and i didn't know how to get it to work. maybe i'm just retarded but when i tried to connect it only let me connect to a network not the internet
- Pinkertinkle, on 11/25/2009, -2/+4 fail, Delta has pwnt me multiple times with their delays and missed connections
- Pinkertinkle, on 11/25/2009, -0/+2i have seen it and it is good
- getoffmybridge, on 11/25/2009, -0/+2I can post anythiiiiiiiiiing
- waydee, on 11/25/2009, -0/+2For long haul international flights having internet access would be amazing. I've got a 36 hour voyage to New Zealand coming up soon and know that it would make all the difference, even just basic web access.
At least were seeing laptop power in economy more often now, it won't be long until decent internet access rolls out too. - SpawnXe, on 11/25/2009, -0/+2SkyFi, FlyFi.. ya could go on for days, i bet the marketing guys had a heamorage tryin to decide a name for this
- ATL, on 11/25/2009, -0/+2usually you need to open a browser, register and likely pay, before you'll get out
- Smedley42, on 11/25/2009, -0/+1On Delta they offer a couple of pass words. IIRC its" try delta go" or some combination of these words. However, take your netbook. The seats in Delta Cattle Class are so close together I couldn't fully open my full size lap top. Surfing was pretty good. Did not try streaming video.
The seat spacing was really bad news though. - haikuFU, on 11/25/2009, -0/+1Delta blows. I've flown them pretty much exclusively for the past 10 years. I flew AirTran a couple of weeks ago, guess which one I'm going to prefer from now on?
Now I just gotta buy some ***** with my half a million Delta Skymiles. - inactive, on 11/25/2009, -0/+1Great, yet another realm to get hacked in!
First it was getting über ooled at MUDS, now this. The unsuccessful nerd will persevere, however... yes he will! - appleseed1234, on 11/25/2009, -2/+3Lets hope it stays free. It's free on trains in my area now, don't see any reason for the airliners to charge for it, as if they need that kind of money.
- whatisthisaol, on 11/25/2009, -0/+1I used Virgin America's internet (also by the same company, I think) and it was pretty amazing. I think you just had an unlucky connection. I was able to remote desktop into my work computer from the plane which didn't even lag much more than if I was at home. (I trust my employer way more than I trust unencrypted wifi with my web browsing!) That tunnels over HTTPS and there was no artificial limit of 100kb in sight.
- mheyk, on 11/25/2009, -0/+0Do they have skynet on V Australia?
- scarlettletter, on 11/25/2009, -2/+2mile high club solo and not flush!
