- chicagospur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Nice article. Not sure I totally agree though. Home theatre can be pretty close, and it's a lot cheaper too.
- commiecat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2#1) Can't debate that - although seeing a movie theater screen from 60 feet away isn't much better than my 42" screen at about 9 feet.
#2) That's a damn joke. There are generally more ads before a theater movie than a (retail) DVD. And instead of hearing the ambience of a home on your couch, you're sitting in a god-knows-what's-been-done-to-this seat with a ton of strangers - some of whom are inevitably obnoxious.
#3) The sound isn't that much better when you look at the square footage of a theater (with an audience chiming in) compared to the square footage of your average living room. I get big sound - and I can *adjust* it, too.
No point in going on, really. Because of my home theater I don't think I'll ever pay to go see a movie again. This article is like saying "Why home-cooked meals suck and McDonald's rules".
-commiecat - TylerDurden0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I call *****. There is nothing I can gain from the theater than I cannot replicate in my own home theater. Beer is cold and always accessible and no stupid kids playing with the phones. I hate having to tell the little bastards to shut the hell up. You talk in my home theater and your ass is out!!

- ReubADoob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Makes some good points. Some I can't agree with but not cleaning up after you leave is always nice.
- davidv, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Well not a lot cheaper but it is more enjoyable.
- burdick11, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Well said. Nothing can touch the movie theatre experience and it cannot be matched.
