- vtbarrera, on 02/03/2009, -0/+13The comparison between ebaumsworld and youtube is interesting. In a way, both feature content that is stolen or copyrighted, and both seemed to have benefited from it. It's just Ebaumsworld blatantly stole original content from independent creators and tried to pass these off as originals. Youtube may have it's fair share of users who upload copyrighted stuff, but those large media companies have the ability to get those taken down as soon as they're discovered; whereas if you had a flash animation stolen from you and put on Ebaumsworld you might not be able to get it taken off. Youtube is a great platform for original content creators because it allows them to display it to the world. If Youtube stole your ***** and tried to pass it of as their original creation, it would be a completely different story.
- yocouchdigga, on 02/03/2009, -0/+13I don't love youtube but Eric Bauman is a fraking doucherag.
- yourmartdotnet, on 02/03/2009, -0/+11Youtube will actually remove stolen content
- kplo, on 04/01/2009, -0/+7yeah, the watermarks really are the icing on the crap cake.
- vtbarrera, on 02/03/2009, -0/+3I'm sure if you contacted Youtube they would probably do their best to help you out. Whereas with ebaumsworld, you send them a support email and you get back the finger.
- michaelpinto, on 02/03/2009, -0/+2I read the article (from our fellow Digger Muhammad Saleem btw!) which was great — but the main difference is that YouTube doesn't take an editorial approach to select and brand the videos as their own which Eric Bauman did all the time. In fact when YouTube promotes videos they make it a point of going after ones that the creator has submitted themselves — and are playing with ad revenue sharing too.

What if some kind of animation is stolen from you and put on Youtube and you're not a "large media company" - ametitul, on 02/03/2009, -0/+1i don't know why .. but i know that i use a lot youtube ..so don't know the rest aswell
- Rapter09, on 02/03/2009, -0/+1We DON'T love YouTube. We love the service it brings, but we bitch about the content all the time. With that being said, YouTube is still infinitely better than Eric Bauman.
We hate Eric Bauman because he's a content-stealing douche, and not in the aggregator style.
People are bringing up ideas like IP and how big companies can get their stuff taken off YouTube but not on Ebaums, and you're right. But that's not even the point or the real argument. We've got "stolen content* (music from bands that aren't technically legally authorized), and "unauthorized use of video" (quotes for a reason.) but the creators of the videos are responsible for that stuff. YouTube is just the service. Eric loves claiming everything on the site as his content, and if I'm not mistaken he's been more than a big enough douche about that fact in the past. - z00k, on 02/03/2009, -1/+1Correction:
