Why AMD Went the Multi-Chip Module Route

tmcnet.com — With the announcement of the 12-core "Magny-Cours" processor due in 2010, AMD is adopting that same solution. It's taking two six-core chips, codenamed "Sao Paulo," and putting them together on one die, a process called Multi-Chip Modules (MCM).

  • Topher06, on 05/12/2008, -1/+1I don't know, is AMD just trying to distinguish themselves by putting cores as multiple of 3's on their CPU's? I guess 3 > 2 so therefore AMD > Intel right?
