- ld458, on 02/19/2008, -0/+162Mirror sites, such as http://wikileaks.be , are not affected. It is also available via the IP address http://88.80.13.160/wiki/Wikileaks . (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikileaks)
- heystoopid, on 02/19/2008, -1/+84that sucks knifed in the back by a US Judge acting at the behest of a very corrupt Swiss Bank running numerous assorted tax avoidance scams through Europe and the US too ! The dumb ass judge should have known better ! :(
- theneubie, on 02/19/2008, -1/+73Good to see the US is following China's lead.
- aslave2thegrind, on 02/19/2008, -9/+80Anonymous TO THE RESCUE?
- caif, on 02/19/2008, -5/+46This lends credibility to conspiracy theories about the global corporate takeover and the fomenting of a one-world-government. The banks are in complete control. Now they even own the US court system, who is supposed to uphold the First Amendment.
- iainc, on 02/19/2008, -0/+38Can't stop the signal!
Sorry ... gets coat :) - latova, on 02/19/2008, -1/+32That swiss bank is about to get a whole lot of negative PR from their attempts to censor their screwups.
- Railz, on 02/19/2008, -2/+32This needs front page =/. Having any site taken down for 'leaked' documents is setting a bad precedent. At least give them a warning; the entire host dismantled the site.
- kronzdigg, on 02/19/2008, -1/+30Wow how long are we going to let the government stomp on our constitutional rights?
- inactive, on 02/19/2008, -4/+32Nope, no fascism here, can't happen in the US. There is no conspiracy to take away your freedoms, or censor information. Everything will be OK, the government only wants what's best for you.
Get in line, face forward, do not talk and take the shot like a good citizen. - SpaceRibs, on 02/19/2008, -0/+23Stupid judges don't deserve the effort. They are going to learn real fast that blocking sites only increases popularity.
- grimward, on 02/19/2008, -0/+20Yes, I didn't even know of this site's existance until this article, so a big DIGG for the article, and a big *flips censors the bird* ;)
- Kurlumbenus, on 02/19/2008, -0/+19From wikileaks:
"Wikileaks has six pro-bono attorney's in S.F on roster to deal with a legal assault, however Wikileaks was given only hours notice "by email" prior to the hearing. Wikileaks was NOT represented. Wikileaks pre-litigation California council Julie Turner attended the start of hearing in a personal capacity but was then asked to leave the court room." - guyfrom2006, on 02/19/2008, -6/+21Go to www.uncensoredinfo.com to post your stuff that you would have otherwise posted on wikileaks.org
- TheMean, on 02/19/2008, -1/+15"The whistles go whoooo WHOOOO!"
Bubb Rubb, PhD in whistle blowing - insurgente, on 02/19/2008, -0/+13"America is just the country that shows how all the written guarantees in the world for freedom are no protection against tyranny and oppression of the worst kind. There the politician has come to be looked upon as the very scum of society."
-- Peter Kropotkin - eosp, on 02/19/2008, -0/+13Go to wikileaks.be to post your stuff that you would have otherwise posted on wikileaks.org
- Kurlumbenus, on 02/19/2008, -1/+14I know and understand how things are. I maintain that they should not be this way.
Corporations have legal rights that they should not have. They are not individuals. - explnx, on 04/27/2009, -2/+15Yes, it does need, front page. In fact, it needs it so much that it aready got fp last night:
http://digg.com/world_news/US_Court_shuts_down_whi ... - dwalker, on 02/19/2008, -0/+12Hey, shows how free we are in the UK and USA!
- minoss, on 02/19/2008, -0/+12Using courts to remove stuff from the internet has always been so effective in the past...
Good job on getting more press and getting these "illegal" documents seen by more people than ever before Julius Baer. - Kurlumbenus, on 02/19/2008, -2/+12Businesses are not individuals, and should not have the rights of individuals.
- Kurlumbenus, on 02/19/2008, -0/+10Rights cannot be given, only taken away.
- tonytopper, on 02/19/2008, -0/+10This is horrible. The Hon. Jeffrey S. White, the presiding judge, needs to resign.
- parkermt, on 02/19/2008, -0/+10Well then I am sure we'll see it published on Wikile.....oh..
- kazamx, on 02/19/2008, -0/+9What rights? You already gave them all away

Hope wikileaks.org is back online soon! - insomniac8400, on 02/19/2008, -0/+7It's sad when a news organization like the bbc gets it horribly wrong by not adding that the site is still accessible through other domains. A fact easily findable on many social news sites.
- coredump0x01, on 02/19/2008, -0/+7Add this line to your OS's hosts file:
88.80.13.160 wikileaks.org
Hosts file is located in /etc/hosts on Linux/Unix and C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc/hosts in Windows. - inactive, on 02/19/2008, -0/+6All they did was make me curious about I site I previously hadn't heard of. And the judge should be disbarred.
- Hazydew, on 02/19/2008, -0/+6Hydra FTW
- explnx, on 04/27/2009, -10/+16This story was already on the front page.
http://digg.com/world_news/US_Court_shuts_down_whi ... - myFriendDerrik, on 02/19/2008, -0/+6I'm not an expert the subject, but would this be a good argument for different DNS hosts, a la OpenDNS ? It seems if we had a more diverse and redundant DNS system, things like this couldn't happen.
- alricsca, on 02/19/2008, -0/+6That would have been disclosed in the restraining order and related court filings even if it was only to suggest a suspicion that would merit such a heavy handed action. The order was written by the lawyer from the Cayman islands and signed by the judge as is to supress a small sub set of documents.
- Kurlumbenus, on 02/19/2008, -0/+6No you didn't, liar.
- aslave2thegrind, on 02/19/2008, -3/+8TY!
- eosp, on 02/19/2008, -0/+5"marital law"
I see what you did there. - absurdist, on 02/19/2008, -0/+5http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/7250916.stm
At least the BBC is on it. - slvrbullet87, on 02/19/2008, -1/+6No publicity is bad publicity, think about Aruba, before some chick died there nobody knew it existed, now their tourist industry is booming.
- yellowsnowcone, on 02/19/2008, -0/+5This is judicial over reach. Let's assume for a second that publication of the documents some how gave rise to an offense. This would warrant enjoinment of those documents, but not an entire website.
This order needs to be amended at once. - sporg, on 02/19/2008, -3/+8Everyone please share the DIGG effect with Julius Baer and put their page in your page refresher.

Maybe they took a hint from Pirate Bay? - Gregac, on 02/19/2008, -0/+4Just make it a hidden service in tor, and list it on toogle. Most people who post to it would know how to use vidalia (TOR bundle) and use toogle
- Kurlumbenus, on 02/19/2008, -0/+4Morally and ethically the rights of individuals trump those of abstract collectives.
- Nickerz, on 02/19/2008, -1/+5btw read the court document, his business is registered in the Cayman Islands, give me a ***** break. Tax Evasion doesn't equal cover up. If you want to be the one "exposing" the truth, you have to be running your operation clean. What do you expect when your site is designed to out people and your running a tax shelter through the Cayman Islands.
- Latentsage, on 02/19/2008, -0/+4Thank you, but the server's are either down or under heavy load. They're not responding...
