tough call. its hard when you love both social media sites. - imdidactic, on 01/07/2009, -1/+8I can't believe the msaleem wrote an article about how people are tired of power users "gaming" Digg. Talk about the ultimate hypocrisy!
- SeaMowse, on 01/08/2009, -0/+7Not all gamers are power users and not all power users are gamers. :/
- moolcool, on 01/07/2009, -2/+9nobody said digg was a stumbleupon alternative. they serve completely different functions.

- WafflePirate, on 01/08/2009, -0/+4StumbleUpon doesn't require a toolbar either. You can stumble websites right from its website using their own toolbar that is a frame along the top.
- inactive, on 01/07/2009, -0/+4actually SU is more functional than digg
- poddys, on 01/08/2009, -0/+3I often find that my articles on Digg get lost. Anything with only 20 Diggs can't compete with those news items that have hundreds of Diggers.
On Stumbleupon however it seems to work differently, and you only need a few reviews or Thumbs Up to get some significant traffic to a page.
I also find that Stumblers are more likely to Discover pages, and a number of the pages on my sites have suddenly gained a lot of traffic because someone Stumbled them.
Sometimes pages that were stumbled months ago seem to get significant traffic flow from Stumbleupon again, whereas on Digg it seems only recent articles get seem.
I agree that they are two very different sites, but Stumbleupon definitely works the best for me. - frjsanders, on 01/07/2009, -0/+3Well said, I think the idea of a community is lost in Digg. There are too many categories. I think in 2009 we will all be looking to trim down our categories and stick to our niche...
There are too many things here I don't care about... - SeaMowse, on 01/09/2009, -0/+1@imdidactic - define what a power user is. I'm very active on Digg. I'm here everyday - doing more digging than I am submitting. I've only had 10% of my submissions make it to the FP. My friend count is very low. That hardly qualifies me as a 'power user'.
- imdidactic, on 01/08/2009, -0/+1Yeah...and with over 2,000 stories submitted, I'm supposed to believe you.
- WafflePirate, on 01/08/2009, -1/+1People only compare them because they both serve as social bookmarking services. You can do similar things on Stumble & Digg (Add friends, submit links, rate things, get banned).
StumbleUpon is a more useful and less redundant social network that isn't limited in submissions. - techguru2006, on 01/08/2009, -2/+1web-based, browser-based toolbar = pretty much same thing.

What is Digg?
