- padrebuf, on 03/10/2008, -4/+529i'm friends with my mom. i don't poke her though.
- frogman54, on 03/10/2008, -4/+383My Dad is still trying to figure out that whole "double-click" thing, so I don't think I have to worry about this.
- Pogojoe, on 03/10/2008, -6/+358I did.
- TheWorm, on 03/10/2008, -3/+261Putting your photos of underage drinking on Facebook is kind of retarded. That's never turned out good for anyone.
- Darkhacker, on 03/10/2008, -7/+232Seriously, if you are putting information on your Facebook that you wouldn't want your parents to see, you're already screwed. Why would you share such information with complete strangers but not your parents? I'm sorry, but you aren't really *friends* with 400 people and it's kind of a slap in the face to accept a friend request from some random drunk you met at a party the night before and trust him to see your profile, but not your parents. I just use my Facebook to keep in touch with people and see what they are up to since we've parted ways. Don't put personal ***** online.
- dotlizard, on 03/10/2008, -11/+187my kids damn well better friend me. i went through labor with them! hmmph, these kids today.
- nikkilai, on 03/10/2008, -20/+185My boss friended me. And I pondered to myself... on one hand, if I don't accept she won't see all of my pictures of underage drinking and debauchery. On the other hand, she'd eventually notice that I never accepted and either ask me about it at work and an awkward conversation would ensue or she would be passive aggressive about it and take it out on me by giving me more work to do.
Final solution? Limited profile. Best way to go. Facebook should never have opened its doors to non-college students. - euro22, on 12/17/2008, -4/+148Mom's I'd Like to Facebook?
- KenSPT, on 03/10/2008, -8/+137Good thing my Dad only uses the internet for porn ...
- hawk0168, on 03/10/2008, -2/+112Back when I was in high school we didn't have Facebook. And we had to poke people in the HALLWAYS. oh noes.
- Jade456, on 03/10/2008, -13/+116LOL. Oh, the horror!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Matt2k, on 03/10/2008, -2/+92The solution, of course, is to not post info of yourself doing stupid things on a social networking site.
Responsibility's a bitch, I know
But eventually everyone comes to the realization that being so intimately and instantly connected is a tiring process of self censorship - plundstedt, on 03/10/2008, -13/+95Being a parent isn't about being a friend to your kids.
- medj, on 03/10/2008, -3/+83How can a guy go through labor?
- NinjaBoy, on 03/10/2008, -2/+65She has a myspace account, you just dont know about it....
- lpmiller, on 03/10/2008, -3/+65it isn't about being an enemy either.
- revansii, on 03/10/2008, -1/+53This reminds me of when my sister had a live journal and then got mad at me cause I found out her secrets. The secrets she was posting on her live journal....that was online where everyone can see them. The moral of the story don't post stuff online that you do not want others to see.
- chrisaug18, on 03/10/2008, -0/+50Yeah, but usually they don't care when you work at Mc Donalds
- purag66, on 05/13/2009, -5/+54Dude, I'm not a parent, and this is probably none of my business, so my apologies in advance, BUT: Leave her alone! Let her have some privacy. At least by 15 ....
I know quite a lot of girls in college who get really ***** up because the new-found freedom is just too much to handle. - 1jaxstate1, on 03/10/2008, -2/+48Why wouldn't you want your mom or pops on your friends list? What's the big deal.
- equallyunequal, on 03/10/2008, -3/+49MomReferenceException: Object _mom_ has two definitions in current context [Mom.CurrentCommentersMom() or Mom.ParentCommentersMom()]
- phurballdj, on 03/10/2008, -1/+46Back when I was in high school, we didn't have HALLWAYS. We brought our own axes, and cut down trees to get from class to class. And WE LIKED IT.
- inactive, on 03/10/2008, -9/+51My daughter wanted to get a social networking account. I wouldn't let her get a MySpace for obvious reasons. I did, however, let her get a facebook. I am her friend on there. Now my kid is just about 13, which warrants me having control over where she can and cannot go online. When she gets a little older, I will relinquish this requirement. For now, we are Facebook friends, and she doesn't mind. She gets to hang out online with her friends, and I get the peace of mind of knowing what she's doing.
- mlostracco, on 03/10/2008, -0/+40Untag them, and deselect the option in your privacy settings that lets people see tagged photos of you.
- inactive, on 03/10/2008, -2/+41i think it's weirder when some female friend's mum pokes you..
- Froggy3262, on 03/10/2008, -25/+64Good to be a friend of your kid. You are a good parent and will have more to talk about.
- warchant, on 03/10/2008, -0/+38i'm friends with my dad. i live 9 hours away from him, it's a great and easy way to keep up.
- liquidpele, on 03/10/2008, -4/+41That's why I have a myspace account. For people that want to be my friend, but I don't want them to be, I just tell them I don't really use facebook much, I like myspace better and they should add me as a friend there. Then they friend me on myspace, I accept, and never log back into myspace until another person I hate wants to be my friend and I repeat the process.
- AccuraCast, on 03/10/2008, -0/+37Yea, but I was on Facebook before my kids! I won't befriend them, but they can butt out before i will!
- Antwan718, on 03/10/2008, -2/+39No but having an open and free of criticism line of communication isn't a bad thing.
- chicoer2001, on 03/10/2008, -2/+37I'll "friend" my parents before I friend a total stranger.
- cJw314, on 03/10/2008, -1/+36You must not have children... certainly, it's only vicariously via your baby's momma, but you do labor. Trust me.
- inactive, on 03/10/2008, -6/+40This is like going to the prom with your mom. Not about privacy so much as it is about kids not wanting to "hang out" with their parents. I'm in my 40's and that was never a good thing, ever. Kids over 12 should have their own social circle.
I think parents should check on their kids regularly, but to try and get themselves involved in their teenager's social circle is just folly. - SpaceMonkeyZero, on 03/10/2008, -4/+36ORLY?
- 1town, on 03/10/2008, -1/+32I'm friends with my dad. I'm even friends with my roommate's dad. It's a limited friendship, of course.
- Jektal, on 03/10/2008, -1/+27Back when I was in high school, we didn't have AXES. We had to gnaw through the trees with our teeth, which was okay because it was the only food we got all day!
- chrisaug18, on 03/10/2008, -0/+26I'm friends with my parents, a few aunts, older cousins...I am also in university. Its not that big of deal, your an adult and if your doing stuff that your family would be that ashamed of you either shouldn't post the pictures on facebook or stop doing stupid stuff. IMHO
- martoq, on 03/10/2008, -3/+25Sorry but if your parent is taking an active role in your well-being, be thankful. And even more blunt, their house, their rules.
- smacksaw, on 03/10/2008, -4/+25My kids unfriend me when they get pissed off at me...but I never added them to begin with, they added me, so...
- sfrench, on 03/10/2008, -1/+22My parents told me that "being my friend is not their job" growing up. So if by some devine intervention my mom or dad figured out how to sign up for FB, I would just decline their invitation saying since they aren't actually my friend. And I would tell them this.... and they would laugh a little and tell me I'm a pain in the ass.
- diggopolous, on 03/10/2008, -3/+24Do you accompany them on their dates too?
- mahdaeng, on 03/10/2008, -1/+20I think my Dad is one of the coolest guys in the world. He doesn't know a thing about computers - won't even touch one - but he can rebuild an engine, repair a motorcycle, build a house, sin a catfish, live off the land, and survive in the desert for months on end armed only with a bowie knife and a .22. I can write software. Who's the cooler of the two?
- absameen, on 03/10/2008, -0/+18Depends. Can you do assembly?
- plizard, on 03/10/2008, -3/+21limited profile ftw!
- inactive, on 03/10/2008, -5/+23No she doesn't. You see, she has a systems engineer for a father. I know everything that anyone does on any PC in my house. Her emails are monitored, her surfing habits, and whoever she talks to. She tested me once. She set up an email address that she thinks I don't know about. I monitor it as well, and she hasn't given me any reason to let her know that I know she has it. As long as she behaves, it's all good.
- inactive, on 03/10/2008, -0/+17Thats basically what this dad is doing too...
- hektur, on 03/10/2008, -0/+17And I think it's even weirder when some female friend's dad pokes you..
- phenolholic, on 03/10/2008, -1/+18Not unless shes hot. I like being poked by mums. Its so... indecent.
