- amk29j, on 04/09/2009, -0/+4The last pot of tulips we sold were marked down to $4.99 from about $15.00 (I work in a Lowe's garden center).
- monicazir, on 04/08/2009, -5/+8The coming trade in "Carbon credits" derivative documents(Cap and Trade) will become the next big bubble. Carbon footprint is irrelevant to climate change. Man-made global warming is a hoax. In ancient history, the climate warmed first, then, as a result of the warming the oceans released more CO2. Collecting carbon footprint data will facilitate legislation that will destroy business in the U.S. while allowing China to use as much coal as they like. None of this will prevent global warming if it is happening. The carbon credits will become as worthless as the mortgage derivatives(toxic assets). I wonder what the price of Tulips is?
- snerdlee, on 04/08/2009, -2/+4Just as data on default rates was used for probability studies to produce a false profile for the justification of the claimed safety of Credit Default Swaps backing bundles, this data in whatever form will be used to put false value on carbon credits. Seems like many Trojan Horses are about to gallop into an apocalypse with either aggregation or federation. Whole thing too tangled like a mutated spider web, but the the silk is not for the Emperor's clothes, but for the Arachnid.

- guifei, on 04/08/2009, -2/+3Save energy if you like, but keep the data private. The Russians and Chinese have infiltrated the electric grid. Perhaps we should start winding down and de-computerizing the grid. Make the power plants managers telephone each other and share info person to person. There's going to be a total collapse of the grid like the big blackout cascade. I think we should start working on a paper backup of data and train in person to person network management. This time maybe the luddites are correct. Without a worst case scenario plan, it could be chaos. If the computer network is sabotaged for months, then what? The derivative collapse should be a warning that the networking math in totality is beyond human understanding and we could be building a house of cards, easy for sabotage, difficult to fix.

- yerdaddy, on 04/09/2009, -2/+2I'm personally looking forward to the day when there are microphones and gas spectrometers installed in every commode, because it is technologically possible (and because that surely means it's a great idea), all connected to a super secure network and analysed by a special government agency so that it can insure the efficiency and enviromental impact of your eating habits and degestive system performance.
- retoretoreto, on 04/08/2009, -1/+1It's like "space elevator"-technology.
