- SkullPizza, on 04/12/2008, -7/+649That's BS, family guy didn't originate the fad. That episode came out after I got rickrolled on a bunch of forums years ago.
- pizzas, on 04/12/2008, -18/+570We're no strangers to digg
You know the rules and so do I
Broken comments is what I'm tired of
You wouldnt get this from any other site
I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling
Gotta make you understand
Never gonna digg you up
Only gonna bury you down
Then I'll go ahead and report you
Hope that I can make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell you why I hate you - AngryAngryBrian, on 04/12/2008, -1/+501Alright lets sum this up. CNN gets the facts wrong, Mets fans take a ride on the waaaambulance, record producers are dumb asses, and Sony tries to cash in as usual.
- MyDiggIsBig, on 04/12/2008, -8/+415CNN YOU STUPID PIECE OF *****.
- castaspellingB, on 04/12/2008, -1/+399The practice began as a variant of an earlier prank originating from the imageboard 4chan called duckrolling, in which a link to a popular celebrity or news item would instead lead to a photoshopped picture of a duck with wheels.
Nothing to do with Family Guy.
Mhmmmm, oh baby thats some grade A journalism! - nymphetamine, on 04/12/2008, -2/+311Featuring hit titles such as "Never gonna give you up", "Never gonna give you up", and "Never gonna give you up".
- mvanhorn, on 04/12/2008, -4/+276Wow "Sony BMG is releasing a best of Rick Astley album at the end of the month"
- headzoo, on 04/12/2008, -2/+223They seem to have missed the joke, and think people are listening to the song because they actually like it.
- estvir, on 04/12/2008, -2/+191One of the song titles should be "eBGIQ7ZuuiU" which turns out to actually be "Never gonna give you up."
Or every song should be "Never gonna give you up" but all have real, normal song titles.
Or when someone enters the CD on a computer it RickRolls them. - SirThom, on 04/12/2008, -13/+183YouTube mirror: http://youtube.com/watch?v=eBGIQ7ZuuiU
- xenoc1de, on 04/12/2008, -0/+170I love seeing people outside of the internet being so clueless.
- inactive, on 04/12/2008, -3/+160WOW
The mainstream media has to stick their ***** hands in everything now...and ***** up the facts.
I, for one, am pissed. - d0onut, on 04/12/2008, -1/+156And "THE ENTIRE ***** INTERNET" did it before that.
- Kral, on 04/12/2008, -1/+146It's CNN, did you expect them to actually research it? This is why we all use the internet for news, now.
- Greenhippo33, on 04/12/2008, -4/+132HaHa @ the booing baseball people
- TheDowntownKing, on 04/12/2008, -2/+127I've just found everyones Christmas presents
- TheCosmicFool, on 04/12/2008, -2/+124Don't you mean RootKitRolls them?
- rye425, on 04/12/2008, -0/+122"Youtube and myspace are gonna have to pay... this is significant dollars if you think about this could end up in the 80 or 90 million hits"
Wow this guy is just drooling over the possible theoretical dollars - Veni_Vidi_Vici, on 04/12/2008, -0/+120I will honestly be impressed if you could pull that off in a video.
- GQCarrick, on 04/12/2008, -7/+126I am kind of amazed that big media like CNN is doing stories about this.
- MiltonWaddams, on 04/12/2008, -5/+116And "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" used it before Family Guy.
- CiXeL, on 04/12/2008, -0/+110amen. they are embarassingly clueless about why its popular.
- Lutremi, on 04/12/2008, -2/+109DIGGROLL
- inactive, on 04/12/2008, -4/+103CNN just killed RickRolling.
- killbert24, on 04/12/2008, -0/+87I hope Rick Rolling is mentioned hundreds or thousands of years from now when people are studying the ancient civilization called 'America' and its people's strange cultural habits.
- inactive, on 04/12/2008, -1/+85Millions of innocent people are being Rick Rolled, and all you diggers talk about is war? Get your priorities straight!
- CiXeL, on 04/12/2008, -1/+84what that cnn video article showed me is a bunch of older people unfamiliar with technology having no clue why it became successful and struggling to come up with an explanation for it.
- biggerapple3am, on 04/12/2008, -1/+83Did you see the song's producer in the video? He thinks it's a hit on the internet purely because the song is just that good. Wow.
- salvadorwii, on 04/12/2008, -1/+79digg national anthem
- amdforever, on 04/12/2008, -3/+79Wow.
The BIGGEST pile of ***** just came out of Pete Waterman's mouth. - JazzCatDRP, on 04/12/2008, -0/+68CNN can suck the fun out of anything.
- GuyHersh, on 04/12/2008, -1/+68Christ, don't they know anything about resolutions and widescreen? That opening part with the music video was stretched like twice as wide! You'd expect better from a large news organization.
- RooDoG, on 04/12/2008, -2/+63"Never gonna give uuiU up"
- inactive, on 04/12/2008, -1/+62Amazed because Rick Rolling has become this popular, or amazed because they refuse to report any real news?
- pigducksheep, on 04/12/2008, -1/+62it all seems to begin with 4chan
- JonTheGoose, on 04/12/2008, -2/+61I actually like it....
- Ganja420, on 04/12/2008, -2/+59Lets petition TIME and make him man of the year.
- Phy6, on 04/12/2008, -3/+60That ***** thinks he's sitting on gold and he want to cash in because "they have to pay" for all the hits. I hope he dies in a fire.
- Subriot, on 04/12/2008, -1/+58Buried as inaccurate, either CNN didn't do their research right or 20th Century Fox paid them to write that.
- bblande, on 04/12/2008, -2/+57Is there any doubt that 2008 is the year of the Rick Roll? I think not.
- inactive, on 04/12/2008, -7/+62WE DID IT!
- CiXeL, on 04/12/2008, -0/+55these people are desperately trying to find a reason to explain why its popular. they dont understand things like absurd internet jokes.
they think people are listening to it because they actually like it.
it was embarassing listening to the producer try to explain it as the video wants to make people dance? geez how clueless can you be? - bagboyrebel, on 04/12/2008, -0/+55news channels should either do more research, or stop trying to understand internet culture.
- x0rcist, on 04/12/2008, -0/+54"When you have that song, and add technology... you don't know how big this might be."
- sgtbutterscotch, on 04/12/2008, -0/+51Look at it this way. If CNN mentioned 4chan, thousands, maybe millions of innocent people, including many old folk who barely know how to get around on the internet, will google 4chan, click on the first link, will be inundated with images that will erode their complete innocence and will forever feel the need to take a cold shower. Think about it, do you really want this? Think about your mom, or even your grandmother.
Either that or CNN is even more in the know about the internet than you think. Maybe, they just wish to abide the first rule of /b/ or whatever it's called. - miketech, on 04/12/2008, -0/+50That old man is so wrong. HE THINKS ITS THE DANCE THAT MADE IT POPULAR??? The family guy reference is wrong too. idiots.
- berfmurret, on 04/12/2008, -0/+50***** story. they ***** up the origin and play it up like it's popular on teh internets because it is such an amazing pop song. he does mention the dance. but still. they are missing the point entirely.
- Dested, on 04/12/2008, -1/+49Thanks! Ive been looking everywhere for this video!
- mparker7410, on 04/12/2008, -3/+51Rick Rolling suddenly has become less enjoyable.
