What are the top investigative journalism video series online?

splashcastmedia.com — Who is doing great investigative journalism in video on the web? I spent some time looking, and asking other people for their favorites. Here's the best projects that I've found so far and info on how they pay their bills. Will it work?

    Alex Jones an investigator? Give me a break, any douche bag with a MiniDV and a bullhorn can string together conspiracy theories and yell at people. The internet has just made it easier for these people to spread their own brand of disinformation. If you fall for any of these conspiracy videos without even checking their research yourself or looking into hard skepticism (e.g. JREF & PublicEye) then you're the one who has become a dumbed down, easy to control sheep.

    The best investigative series you can watch for free online is PBS's Frontline.

    Check out everything from Alex Jones.

    He's loud and bombastic, but he's got a nose for corruption, a pioneer spirit, a refreshing resistance to generalize the targets of his vitriol, and a big heart. While the ignorant seek to blame this group or that demographic, Jones persistently and carefully dissects the story until the corruption stands alone in full relief.

    The big surprise is that corruption tends to disguise itself as patriotism or environmentalism, or whatever mask is most effective at providing cover for its activities. It pretends to be acting in every ones best interest, so those claiming the loudest to be "your friend" are the most suspicious. Corruption is a human quality. It is not reserved for one race, religion, nationality, gender, etc.

    Is he right about everything? Probably not, but he asks a lot of good questions precious few do, and that alone is worth its weight in gold. Amidst all the garbage in the top-down MSM and the confusion of the grassroots market of ideas that is the internet, Alex is a breath of fresh air.

    Don't trust my impressions, check him out for yourself, but don't let anyone (ZenFountain???) dissuade you from looking into Mr. Jones' films. Their all on google and can be seen for free. Decide for yourself.

    Talkingpoints Memo is really quite wonderful, though their video content is still in its infancy. They were in fact amongst the earliest blogs reporting on the AG firings, with some of the first interviews with Yglesias. In regards to financials, I do believe they get paid for some of their investigative work, if that helps people imagine how they're making money. From what I can gather, they've got at least 5-10 full time reporters/interns, which is pretty impressive for a political blog.

    Offensive ideas like believing people know better than their government how to run their lives.
