I think this falls into a "fixing something that works" scenario, as well as being "the tail wagging the dog" in terms of policy.

- Nrvana423, on 11/27/2008, -0/+4I think the issue is allowing a wireless device in a secure area where sensitive information may be compromised. Cell phones can be turned on remotely and used as a listening device. I'm not sure of the likely hood of it happening, or how easily this can even be done, but I know the govt takes that potential threat very seriously. While I am sure there are measures that can be taken to make it more secure, is it really worth risking national security?

In the next several decades human performance is going to exponentially increase due to technological advancement that puts incredibly powerful new tools in reach of the average individual. I'm not saying a Blackberry applies, but claiming someone is "addicted" because they hate to give up the capability afforded by use of a powerful new tool is similar to saying one is addicted because they wont parts with their arms, or sensory organs, or brains, etcetera. It's not a toy.
