I hate CNN and their pathetic web video player! The streaming sucks and the entire thing opens in a new bloated window! Why the hell can't they just like to videos on youtube or make a semi-decent video player that doesn't require windows media player 15 and 2 hours to stream the video? At the very least, provide a direct link to the video file so i can watch it in a real video player, like vlc. I will never figure out why people even bother talking about, going to, or linking to the "web site" called CNN.com. Without adblock on and with a web browser maximized at CNN.com, 75% of the screen is flooded with ads and deserted with white space. And who had the bright idea at smashing the text into a tiny little 200 pixel column? If the people at CNN are trying to make the site an ad-invested, pathetic attempt at distributing old, irrelevant, and inaccurate information, they hit it right on. I swear I will ***** kill a kitten and never go to their site again if they don't at least attempt at being a decent site to go to, as right now it is very unprofessional, annoying, and spiteful to its users.
[/rant] - CristianMezei, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4This story is BULL. There are NOT 100 million website on the net. There are 100 million DOMAINS. How can CNN publish such rubbish titles ?

- camster91, on 10/12/2007, -13/+2there no way theres only 100 million think of how many GeoCities sites there are this is very wrong number
- saqib, on 10/12/2007, -15/+3according to netcraft:
geocities.com/*.* is considered one site (Domain) no matter how many people host their webpages on it.
However http://docbook.xml.googlepages.com/ and http://shining.sea.googlepages.com/ are counted as 2 sites by netcraft.
I sure that unique hostnames allowed by googlespages is the real cause of the spike in websites. (just a thought)
