- super_spyder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3does flash video (.flv) have to be ***** quality, or is that just youtube, googlevideo?
- vonnie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4omg! your cat climbed a tree today? quick, submit an article, i want to digg it
- mikedaul, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You can encode flv to whatever bitrate you desire. The On2 VP6 codec that came with flash 8 video encoder is very powerful (allows for encoding of an alpha channel for neat-o effects), and has a great file size to quality ratio.
- joelhardi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Well, you can pretty much copy and paste out his two ffmpeg commands and flvtool2 command and that's all you really need to know. Throw them together in a shell script (or don't). The Django stuff is just interface flashiness.
- deusx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+290% of them are crap for *you*. Everyone's 10% of non-crap does not necessarily overlap in the same region. Thus, there's likely an audience for everything that you think is crap. The 90% of crap is just not meant for you, but someone somewhere likes it.
- C00001, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There's processor issues with viewing Flash video full-screen or using bit rates over 1k. Also, most people don't shoot or edit with the codec in mind. If you're looking for high quality, and/or if you have a lot of really fast cuts or shaky handheld, you should go with mpeg-4.

- GamingLab, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2is there a binary release of ffmpeg for windows available somewhere? I can't find anything on their horrible website.

http://digg.com/linux_unix/Ubuntu_Create_your_own_screencasts_in_5_easy_steps - f1055man, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Django is dead? I'm confused.
- ParkerDigital, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Joel, err, what's a shell script?! I know a bit about PHP - could I do it in PHP, or does it need to be in Perl or something?
- dudacgf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Yes, there are some PHP script floating round the web telling you how to do the trick using exactly the same tools. I've found one two or three months ago. IIRC, i was googling for 'flvplayer'.
edit: I should have read the entire thread. sorry. - ParkerDigital, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0If anyone knows of a site that tells you how you can do this stuff independently of a platform like Django, please let me know! Been trying to work it out for ages!
- Chrysalid, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2Just when I thought the stupid blog phenomenon was about to calm down, here come the video blogs, another good way to waste bandwidth. Who cares if I tell on video for example how cute my cat is and how it climbed into a tree today? There are too many blogs anyway and 99,9330 percent of them are crap.
