- epheterson, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I can't wait until software will be able to recognize objects in video. Screw the tagging, I search for dog and get a bunch of videos that dogs are present in. That'd be nice, but years and years down the line.
- thydzik, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7this is great for long videos that take forever to download.
and also porn,
search: 'money shot' - hwrd, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5The technology is here now, but it's difficult and computationally expensive. A bit overboard for a website.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I wonder if these features will put a dent in youtube, time will only tell.
- llamasonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Looks interesting though deep tagging is not new. The following sites do deep tagging or segment tagging, also called hypervideo. I prefer the term Vtag.
Feel free to add to this list.
Beedeo
Click.TV
Google Video (sort of)
Lulop2
Motionbox
Veotag
Vidavee
Viddler
Also, Eyespot, Grouper & Jumpcut plan to add support for Vtagging soon.
Any more? - panic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ahh, isnt competition great? you can pretty much guarantee that if this service takes off and takes even a fraction of youtube or googles market share they will be adding this feature too.
- Kniggit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is what the MPEG-7 standard is for. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPEG-7 for details.
I wonder if Viddler is using or will use this in the future. People haven't even begun digesting all of MPEG-4 yet. - punkrockxtian, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Finally a start-up that brings something new to the table. Let's just hope it has a real business plan and survives for a while.
- LKBM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1We can already tag (label) Google Videos and search by tag.
Of course, we can't tag particular timeslices in Google Video. That is new. - C00001, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.viddler.com/about.html
They're using Flash. Flash 8 has a lot of interesting things that you can do with cuePoints in video files, and I'm interested to see how they use it. Not a lot of people are utilizing this as well as they could. You can even do things like adding in cuePoints on the fly.
And, since it's in Flash, I imagine that YouTube will incorporate it soon--especially if the idea takes off. - Reezy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is a very good idea, I have thought about something like this for quite a while.
Same idea can also be applied to photgraphs, sound files, and Books.
Google will be incorporating it shortly.......
