- signorescuro, on 02/18/2008, -1/+47I'm amazed that this is happening. I'll switch back to Verizon when they dump their horrible Get it Now brew system and UI.
- inactive, on 02/18/2008, -3/+38$400 for a 4-person family plan? this is waaay too expensive. the only perk is unlimited calling. coughing up a $100 per phone monthly is not worth it.
- badenglishihave, on 02/18/2008, -1/+32Will it be as "unlimited" as Comcast's internet service?
- frogskins, on 02/18/2008, -2/+23The article explicitly states "5GB cap on data is out" So..... What caps?
- fadetoone, on 02/18/2008, -2/+20I'll believe it when I see it. My friend is dropping Verizon because he has the current unlimited data plan and found that there was actually a limit. He called customer support or something and they told him he could download up to 5 gigs of data. When he pointed out that 5 gigs was a limit and therefore the plan was not unlimited, they tried to claim otherwise. Pretty funny if you ask me.
- ncredblstrength, on 02/18/2008, -0/+15How about some new phones? The tin can I'm using is getting rusty and my string is about to rip
- Enderplayer1, on 02/18/2008, -0/+15I'm sorry that still doesn't help it make anymore sense

Use "savings@sprintemi.com" as the employee email address. $30/month for 500 minutes, unlimited text and data
No, I'm not spamming. I get nothing from this. I'm just trying to keep people from Verizon's $80/month package that is the exact same thing. - mikehill33, on 02/18/2008, -5/+18Unlimited with caps? nice try.
- MikeSobe, on 02/18/2008, -1/+11For a quick little comparison: Right now the Nationwide Premium plan that costs $140 gets you 2000 minutes and the $240 plan gets you 6000 minutes. I feel that anyone with the $140 and up plans should be excited, especially those who are going to be able to save $100 a month.
- dynacrylic, on 02/18/2008, -0/+9Their plans may have changed, but it seems Verizon will no longer give you the $100 off for buying a new if you already have a plan with the. According to my friend, apparently you only get $50 off a phone UNLESS you have a monthly service contract of $80 or more, in which case then you would then qualify for $100 off a phone.
- linkdj, on 02/18/2008, -1/+10The iPhone doesn't have any unlimited voice packages. RTFA before posting.
- stellandfly, on 02/18/2008, -1/+9I'll believe it when it happens.
- linkdj, on 02/18/2008, -0/+7Yes, we can all agree on one thing, if the government doesn't run the phone system, we won't have to worry about warrantless wiretapping...
- EtherGnat, on 02/18/2008, -0/+7Who said anything about acceptable? I think it's stupid, I'm just comparing it to others in the industry--I don't think it's fair to single Verizon out when everybody is doing it. It's one of the problems in the cell phone industry. People say if you don't like the terms of your carrier vote with you dollars, but that's meaningless when they all screw you over the same way.
- habbofresh, on 02/18/2008, -0/+7it's called competition
- jmontez, on 02/18/2008, -4/+10I just checked AT&T's plans thinking it was no big deal, but it sure as hell is! Just compare prices on other carriers and you'll be amazed. You have to love competition, because we're the ones who benefit.
- EtherGnat, on 02/18/2008, -0/+6I've read the terms and restrictions of several "unlimited" cell phone plans, and they all have ridiculous limitations. At least Verizon tells you want the limit is on their "unlimited" plan, unlike Comcast and other companies that will ban you for using some undisclosed amount of bandwidth.
- atbnet, on 02/18/2008, -0/+6Yeah but you are limited to local areas with Metro. They have a similar service here in Ohio called Revol. It's fine if you never leave your service area but I've used my Verizon service in many states, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.
- edru, on 02/18/2008, -0/+6exactly what i rock.. its not exactly NATION WIDE - but if you are in your own city for a long time - its the way to go. no contracts unlimited everything.
- tempusrob, on 02/18/2008, -1/+7"the limit is on their "unlimited" plan"
Please read that several times if, while writing it, you thought this is somehow acceptable. - dshPls, on 02/18/2008, -0/+5No, we don't need the government to run the phones, unless you enjoy warrentless wiretaps.
- sylvanis, on 02/18/2008, -0/+5What part of "Nationwide" would include Canada & Mexico?
- sophiaperennis, on 02/18/2008, -3/+8This is one of the last attempts to charge premium for Verizon's aging CDMA network.
- PhillAholic, on 02/18/2008, -0/+4Yea that is one drawback to Verizon. I love they don't take it in the ass from the RIAA/MIAA like Comcast does but they sure do cripple their phones from receiving files. I couldn't even transfer a photo to my roomates phone via bluetooth. I'm on AT&T, he's on Verizon. All he can accept or transfer is a id card. I've been able to transfer to other AT&T phones and even T-mobile without hassle.
- dougs55, on 02/18/2008, -0/+4Thank you very much ! I'll check it out.
- MiDri, on 02/18/2008, -0/+4Thats a teaser rate, it jumps up to like $120-$140 after a month or two and you are stuck with a year contract
- EtherGnat, on 02/18/2008, -0/+4"How is this at all different from what MetroPCS or Helios offers?"
It's available from Verizon. Not everybody wants to switch providers. - FatLoser, on 02/18/2008, -1/+5Give him a break, he got his education in a public US school.
- sdbyrd, on 02/18/2008, -1/+5still too expensive
- BLish, on 02/18/2008, -0/+4one of the key reasons i was actually on a hinge this week about dumping Verizon altogether was because they may have the best coverage, but they have the absolute worst calling plans. i pay out the ass every month for Verizon ... just because i have to for as much as i travel and their coverage is top notch. but once again... their calling plans suck ass. maybe this will keep me with em. we'll see how this unfolds.
- MrZeebo, on 02/18/2008, -0/+4That's been the case for a couple years. The original, simple, $100-off-new-phone-after-two-years deal was pretty short lived before it was replaced by the current "tiered" discount.
- dougs55, on 02/18/2008, -0/+4Did you check the "bundle" pricing ? I saw dsl+wifi+unlimited nationwide calling for $60 s month the last time I checked.
(This was an online only offer on the at&t website.) - FatLoser, on 02/18/2008, -2/+6Sounds like some wishful thinking from somebody locked into a multi-year agreement. Why do you have to bring the iPhone into this conversation? Every time I so much as mention another phone/carrier in an iPhone thread I get buried to the hilt and called all manner of names by Steveophiles.
- artificialgrey, on 02/18/2008, -0/+3With Metro, you take on the full financial weight of subsidizing the phone as soon as you start service - and the prices are high - $180 for a Razr and $210 for a Slvr - can get both of them cheaper in fully unlocked GSM models.
- Syzothermy, on 02/18/2008, -0/+3I just checked AT&T's plans thinking it was no big deal, but it sure as hell is! Just compare prices on other carriers and you'll be amazed. You have to love competition, because we're the ones who benefit. -jmontez, 14 hours before your post.
Way to go. - tensider, on 02/18/2008, -0/+3Dugg for Milk & Cheese (Dairy products gone bad!) picture
- kirk06, on 02/18/2008, -1/+3Really? Sorry, but no.
Notice those minutes quoted on each package? Clearly NOT unlimited voice. - liquidhalcyon, on 02/18/2008, -2/+4I have AT&T, and my roommate has Verizon. We went on a roadtrip this weekend, and he had to keep using my phone, because he had no service, and we both have the same ***** RAZr. Verizon also locks their phones down, so you can't put free ***** on them. I got Motorola Phone Tools from TPB, and I have games and ringtones for free, while he's stuck with Hello Moto.
Damn, that was tl...dr. - SA007, on 02/18/2008, -0/+2Yeah, IMO the package is pretty good considering the current pricing.
- arcooke, on 02/18/2008, -0/+2This is huge news... I've been waiting for one of the major carriers to offer an unlimited plan ever since cell phones started getting popular. The competitors are likely to follow suit which means the price will drop over the next few years.
- dh122, on 02/18/2008, -2/+4Try using metro pcs outside the city. Oh wait...
- Dantetheinferno, on 02/18/2008, -0/+2LOL YOU USED MORMON AS A HOMONYM FOR MORON!
HAHAHAHAAHHAHA. I GET IT! My god, you should be a comedian. - airj1012, on 02/18/2008, -1/+3Well how about some cool new phones? And does anyone really talk on the phone THAT much?
- FatLoser, on 02/18/2008, -0/+2iPhone users have had a history of not reading things carefully for some time.
- Aitese, on 02/18/2008, -0/+2Shh...that's facts! you know facts can't kill an iPhone post
- fjc8, on 02/18/2008, -0/+2I might add that UMTS/HSDPA does have the advantage of simultaneous voice and data (you can talk while data is transferring). EV-DO operates on a separate channel from voice/1xRTT, and AFAIK EV-DO devices only support putting data sessions on hold while you talk.
- Sol1, on 02/18/2008, -0/+2Actually roaming is 5 cents/min and for $60/mo you get 200 nationwide roaming minutes included. It's not meant for a jet-setter that's flying back and forth across the country on a weekly basis, but for most people, Cricket is a great deal.
- Snoz, on 02/18/2008, -0/+2Are you listening Rogers? You scamming bastards.
- sgtpppr, on 02/18/2008, -0/+2Verizon's plan is meant more for people who use their phone for business. I would hope someone who needs a serious phone for business would use a Cricket phone.
