Verizon: "Steve Jobs Has No Monopoly on Innovations"
tgdaily.com — Verizon's chief Ivan Seidenberg reveals interesting details about plans to leapfrog AT&T to become the largest wireless carrier in the US. In a rare interview Seidenberg commented on rumors that Verizon is up for a sale and fired a couple of jealous shots at Steve Jobs.

- jdigg06, on 07/01/2008, -10/+12I do. They have better coverage than AT&T and I've had way less problems in-call. And they have better customer service.
- callmemorbid, on 07/01/2008, -8/+6but they have no innovation though :) and are jealous they didnt jump on the cash cow iphone has turned into

- smashingmonkey, on 07/02/2008, -0/+5Looks like Verizon has the current monopoly on hubris. I can't wait to switch to AT&T...
- Elranzer, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1"I can't wait to switch to AT&T."
What the hell are you smoking? Cuz is MUST be pretty potent *****. - good2beme, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Same here. I've been a VZW customer since 2004 because of the quality of the network but I hate that they don't have great phones. Hubris is right. I get the since that they feel they can screw customers because they are the best game (read network) in town. Now the iPhone has them running scared and HSDPA is on par with EVDO.
My entire office for my small business is switching to At&t this month with 3 of us getting the new iphone. We were just waiting for the Active Synch piece to make the leap. The VZW rep had me on the phone for more than 15 minutes and offered me a free BB Curve to stay. Nope. That's what happens when you screw your customers (ridiculous prices, crippled phones, etc.). It eventually comes back around to bite you the minute something better comes along. VZW does not have customer loyalty. They have customer lock in. There is a big difference.
On another note, I see lots of people complaining about the increased ATT rates. Coming from VZW the increased ATT rates are still less than VZW. My office will save over $100 a month in our mobile phone bills. That's with 3 unlimited data plans and all. Bye, bye VZW. Can you hear me now?
- Elranzer, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1"I can't wait to switch to AT&T."
- schneb, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2The "proof is in the pudding". And Verizon has no pudding.

- callmemorbid, on 07/01/2008, -4/+11wow well we all know ivan has no innovation to begin with look at how he makes all the phones have the same ui. something else also is that att (cingular) has more innovation than a lot of phone companies take roll over minutes i think thats the greatest thing ever from cell companies...... what does verizon have..... vcast pssshhhhh
p.s and steve jobs will get old what kind of statement is that .... oh we wont do anything we will just wait till steve jobs leaves... how lazy is that- humperdinck, on 07/01/2008, -1/+6Needs more punctuation.

- callmemorbid, on 07/01/2008, -1/+2exactly!
- oMeSSiaHo, on 07/01/2008, -3/+4I still fail to see what makes the iPhone so innovative to begin with.
And honestly can you blame him for being jealous. I wish I could make a product with less features and have people lap it up and pay more for it.- phrenzy, on 07/02/2008, -1/+1The fact that you think it's about "features" means that you don't understand design in the first place.
- Smeed, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Steal things the other guy does right. Make your product better, maybe even build on their idea. I really dont see the problem with that. Isnt that how we move forward?
- jdigg06, on 07/01/2008, -1/+30So when is Verizon going to start getting some good phones? And the LG Chocolate or Razor9,999 don't count.
- slinky317, on 07/01/2008, -7/+4Except for the iPhone, it has some of the coolest phones on the market. Voyager, Glyde, Venus, etc.

- FoolsRun, on 07/01/2008, -1/+34So this logically implies that Verizon will be producing some innovative products soon? Well, that'll be a nice change of pace for them.
- ExSlashdotter, on 07/02/2008, -0/+4Yeah, as soon as they lift that 5GB/month bandwidth cap they just put on the EVDO internet cards in April...
Innovation my ass.- chokeaduck, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1The cap was always there in the fine print. After you hit that point they throttled the connection, or if you did it repeatedly, shut it off.
- Temo1, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Verizon does not produce phones.
- ExSlashdotter, on 07/02/2008, -0/+4Yeah, as soon as they lift that 5GB/month bandwidth cap they just put on the EVDO internet cards in April...
- lordtyros, on 07/01/2008, -1/+24That's your plan, Verizon? Wait for Steve Jobs to get old and die? I look forward to your company's irrelevance in the upcoming years.
- Darph.Bobo, on 07/02/2008, -0/+6It's jealousy since they passed on the iPhone, thinking their were smarter than Jobs. Now they're playing catch-up but just like Microsoft they can only imitate NOT innovate.
Oh and he's lost a potential future customer from an interview! What a douche.
For the record Ivan Seidenberg is 62, Steve Jobs is 53! Who's OLD NOW BITCH!

Unless Verizon is about to unveil it's time capsule technology... no, wait, Apple has that one already.- badenglishihave, on 07/01/2008, -0/+5Jobs will eventually get old? I've only had my job one week, you're crushing my spirit :(
- Goblin, on 07/01/2008, -0/+3Well, I thought you'd appreciate it from a random stranger on Digg instead of from management.
- xkorbin, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2The thing is, Jobs invented the iPhone in 1902. He invents cool things, puts them in a time capsule, and then digs them out whenever the market has a thirst for a certain device or price point.

- BesideYouInTime, on 07/01/2008, -2/+31Maybe Apple doesn't have a monopoly on cell phone innovations, but it sure as ***** seems like it. The iPhone is a year old and still at the top of its game.
- phrenzy, on 07/02/2008, -1/+1but nerds want MORE BUTTONS and FEATURES!!! Who cares how it looks or works?!?!
- DillonHinson, on 07/02/2008, -1/+1Nerds can go play Nintendo DS and talk about flash drives. We don't need them. There's a difference between nerds and geniuses.
- skyh, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Features is a moot point, because the iPhone has more features than any of them. Nerds want features.. and we don't get them. Which is why so many nerds also like the iPhone..

no. - jabberwolf, on 07/02/2008, -1/+1On top of what game?

Connection to email servers - late
Web browsers - that have flash and java.
Hardware? - no stereo bluetooth, no eternal memory chips?
No keyboard.
And it still can't cut and paste !!- jo21, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1agree it looks like apple fanboys are here...
lets not forget mms, voice dialing, noise reduction technologies, speed dialing or OBEX - niczar, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2Browser - the only usable mobile web browser

- fuxxx, on 07/01/2008, -2/+25Erm, yes they do actually.
When any other company tries to create something technically interesting, they ruin it with ***** industrial design and ***** software design.
Unless other companies start realising that people care about how a product looks, as well as how it works, Apple will continue to have the edge.- F9Phoenix, on 07/01/2008, -1/+4Poppycock! You know common sense has no place in the cell phone world. How dare you sir!
- solarms, on 07/01/2008, -0/+18Sounds like a little whining b****!!! Jobs is 5 steps ahead of them, and they know it, and they can't do nothing about it!! Grow a pair of fracking balls, change the stupid system to GSM technology and start being relevant again in the industry!
- GruntboyX, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2While i can agree that he is whining. It has nothing to do with the fact Verizon Employs CDMA technology. CDMA has its advantages over GSM.
- Elranzer, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Try convincing Japan to switch to GSM (they use CDMA exclusively).
Japan's cell phones and networks are lightspeeds more advanced than Europe's GSM standard. It's too bad that the USA is caught somewhere between CDMA and GSM (and only offering the worst of both worlds).
It would be more feasible to get Europe to switch to CDMA.
- flagrant, on 07/01/2008, -0/+19Verizon innovates nothing. In fact, they seem to try real hard to keep anything from changing. Best they can do is buy up competitors that brought new ideas.
- austenw, on 07/01/2008, -5/+8While I hate Verizon with all the passion of my soul, I simply can't bear to leave them. Yeah, the iPhone 3G is awesome, but ***** it's expensive. Too expensive for my taste. For my wife and I both to have one that's damn near $200 a month for 1400 minutes and unlimited texts. ***** you if you think that's any semblance of reasonable.
- johnpaul191, on 07/01/2008, -0/+4what? For the $ i pay to verizon, i would get 2x the minutes on the current iPhone plan. I guess that changes on the 11th, but the point is for the last year i was feeling that sting.... and had a lesser smartphone to boot.
- enzomedici, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1I have 2 iPhones & a 3rd phone too with AT&T and I pay only $149 for a family plan. That is cheap because with AT&T I have 4,000 rollover minutes because I don't call that many people who are not on AT&T anymore.
With Verizon, I had two RAZR's and a phone bill of $130, but some months my bill hit $400. - jbella, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Well you know... it sounds like it's not the right phone for you. Despite what some people say, the iPhone is not meant for everyone. It's a high end phone with a high end price.
- username7410, on 07/01/2008, -1/+8Knocking off the iPhone is not innovation. LOL! The article is right on point when it points that fact out. Touch screens and internet browsing on mobile devices were pretty much just a novelty until the iPhone.
- xkorbin, on 07/02/2008, -1/+2And correct me if I am wrong, no phone other than the iPhone has a multi-touch capacitative glass touchscreen?
- MacParrot, on 07/02/2008, -0/+3I agree. here's nothing revolutionary about the iPhone. It's just got some easy to use features NOT buried in multiple layers. Instead of trying to outdo the iPhone on feature set (the same mistake all the iPod rivals made), out innovate Apple. Make it even EASIER to use, don't overburden the user with stuff they most likely don't want or care about.
- Elranzer, on 07/02/2008, -1/+1Knocking off the LG Prada isn't innovation either (that's what the iPhone did).
- jks52086, on 07/01/2008, -2/+2Is this a real article? Very poorly written.
- callmemorbid, on 07/01/2008, -0/+1yea it was also on engadget awhile ago
- indiepenguins, on 07/01/2008, -1/+20This guy is a ***** idiot in the first place, he puts that horrible red menu on EVERY Verizon phone.
- bipolarruledout, on 07/01/2008, -0/+10Just becuase you have a (near) monopoly in telcom doesn't mean you own innovation. Far from it. While you get extra points for FIOS this barely makes up your anti-consumer policies in wireless. Every wireless company sucks but verizon has gone the extra mile to insure that consumers can't run their own software or even use the full feature set of their own hardware!
While I don't know for sure why verizon rejected the iphone I'm sure it's becuase they didn't want to give apple full platform freedom. Under the verizon model your voice service is $40+, data is $60, Google maps would be $10.00 and your still going to need text messageing. Thw only up side is that htey do have a very good network.- StandardsDT, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2That's exactly what happened. Verizon wanted to control went on the phone and didn't like the idea of Apple having full control over the phone. The end result as every one knows is they kicked Apple to the curb and yet they still haven't learned to not create crappy User Interfaces.
- crwoo, on 07/01/2008, -4/+2Its not like verizon has a phone that can do what an iphone can, Iphones are simple and fun to use. and they actually work, unlike the RIM or WIN MO
If verizonwireless would have the iphone they would have 1 more customer, lol - cwcentral, on 07/01/2008, -2/+6Funny thing is the Verizon cell net is better than the AT&T cell net. So if he can execute (50/50 chance), then we'll be seeing something interesting in the coming months.
- johnpaul191, on 07/01/2008, -0/+1no we won't. Verizon suits genuinely thought they had an iPhone killer with the LG Voyager. I have never seen one of those in the wild. I've always had Verizon, and i can tell you they have ALWAYS been behind with phones. Anything they got first was a minor variation of an existing phone, or something stupid... or something in a limited edition color. *yawn*
- xkorbin, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1I had an LG voyager for about a week, due to the fact I moved to South Dakota where ATT has no service (my beloved iPhone is now an iPod only). I got rid of it and switched to an even worse winmobile samsung.
The touchscreen on the voyager was a pressure sensitive joke.

LOL wow. It looks like Youtube doesn't have a monopoly on stupid comments.
- quomen, on 07/01/2008, -0/+3Invention =/= innovation
- Mier, on 07/01/2008, -0/+39Verizon has a wonderful network. I've never had a dropped call or not had a good signal, so I can't fault them for that.
What I can fault them for is the ***** phones in existence, imo. I was leery of the iPhone at first so I was going to look at blackberry. An expensive phone and an expensive plan to support it. But the features I saw on the RIM website rivaled that of apple's. Then I looked at the Verizon site and they ***** the blackberry over horribly. No blackberry maps, which was one of the features I wanted greatly as well as web. Verizon cripples their phones and charges money to restore capabilities that were already inherit in the phone, UNACCEPTABLE.
You wanna win Verizon? Stop ***** up your phones, they are the door way to your network and if you have a ***** looking door the interior can be immaculate but no one will want to come in.- soroushe, on 07/01/2008, -0/+4AT&T has just started to do the same thing with iPhone. Example, you can't get ActiveSync unless you pay for the enterprise data plan which is $15 more expensive than the regular plan. Some one needs to put a stop to this... APPLE PLEASE!
- Mier, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1You know I'm not seeing it. I looked at the at&t page for business and all they mention is you need your email server to be exchange 2k3 sp2 or 2007.
http://www.wireless.att.com/businesscenter/en_US/p ... - soroushe, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1If you follow that link to the enterprise plans, here is what you get:
http://www.wireless.att.com/businesscenter/iPhone3 ...
Take a look at the Enterprise Data Plan for iPhone under rates. I would love to be wrong on this. - good2beme, on 07/02/2008, -0/+0But guess what? VZW charges the same price for unlimited consumer data plans. I know because I'm on one until July 11th. Even with ATT's rate hikes they are still cheaper than VZW. Plus, if you are a small business, VZW won't even notice you. ATT is giving us 8% off of our voice and data plans. When I tried to set up a business plan with VZW the rep told me to not even bother. It would just be way too expensive. They just generally seemed like they can't be bother.

- SnuKs, on 07/01/2008, -1/+3Someone's been drinking plenty of Haterade. Everyone knows that Alltel acquisition was to lessen the blow of Verizon memebers switching over along with the other customers from other carriers added to AT&T's total members.
- chokeaduck, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1More like Verizon has the lowest churn for a major cell company in the US, and someone had to pickup Alltel, Tmobile, and Sprint, and as people are fleeing from Sprint like the plague it was either Alltel or Tmobile.
- soroushe, on 07/01/2008, -0/+3The only way Verizon ever has a chance to catch up with AT&T and iPhone at this stage, is if AT&T screwed up the iPhone experience through lack of customer service, ridiculous pricing strategies, slow network connections and etc so bad that people simply won't want AT&T as a provider. iPhone is a winner and has changed the mobile hand held market as we know it, but lets just wait and see how long it will take for AT&T to screw things up...
- johnpaul191, on 07/01/2008, -1/+3It's coming down to the 2 carriers in the US. While AT&T uses a crap network, Verizon has phones that don't excite anybody. Both seem to have issues with customer service (like cable companies?).
- ExSlashdotter, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2Hmmm... ::writes in notebook::
"Ridiculous pricing strategies... CHECK!"- youareretarded, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Not when compared to verizons pricing;)
- good2beme, on 07/02/2008, -0/+0Exactly.
- Ducttape38, on 07/01/2008, -1/+7Wait, what has Verizon done in response to the iPhone? Oh yeah, they put out a bunch of ***** touchscreen devices, none of which have the looks, aesthetics, software, or usability of the iPhone. Get a truly game changing phone, and then Verizon I will take you seriously.
- skyh, on 07/02/2008, -2/+2Yeah, the touchscreen really sucks on all of those phones. It's disappointing.
- Pake, on 07/01/2008, -1/+1IIRC, when Verizon bought Alltel, it took over the top spot. So really, all they are doing now is trying to find a way to maintain the top spot.
- F9Phoenix, on 07/01/2008, -2/+4I've never met or spoken to one single person who was happy with Verizon. Apple on the other hand ...
- slinky317, on 07/01/2008, -2/+5I'm happy with Verizon.
- xkorbin, on 07/02/2008, -2/+1Is this due to the fact you have no other viable option?
- Pake, on 07/02/2008, -0/+3I'm happy with Verizon as well, outside of their locked phones (which they have mentioned they'll do away with, since they're going to allow Android phones on their network). I have numerous other options, such as Sprint, AT&T, and even a few others. I had AT&T before Verizon and AT&T's service was simply dreadful. Their network dropped calls left and right, they double billed practically every month, and we constantly had to call to argue with them that we didn't have services they kept trying to bill us for.
- daviddiaz, on 07/01/2008, -1/+2like many others have said, I'm happy with the network, but not the phones. As soon as I move out on my own, i'll be switching to Sprint with a blackberry.
- Pake, on 07/02/2008, -1/+1They're going to allow more phones soon, including supporting Android phones.
- vocalyouth, on 07/02/2008, -1/+5I'm VERY happy with Verizon and my phone (Samsung U740... not a smartphone but it lets me check my email, myspace, facebook, twitter, etc with relative ease and is the size of a RAZR with a full qwerty keyboard. It's a great little phone.) Not so happy with my 2 year old, dead MacBook Pro. At all. In fact, I know a number of other people who have had MAJOR mac and ipod problems.
- praisethelard, on 07/02/2008, -0/+4Hey...I have the same phone! Virtual high five! ^5
- mathcreative, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1love the ^5.
- smashingmonkey, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1I'm happy with Verizon's reception, but hate absolutely everything else about them. Can't wait to switch this July...
- good2beme, on 07/02/2008, -0/+0That's exactly the point. I think VZW take for granted that customers would stick around just for the network. I was one of them. But like so many other I was just waiting for the right moment to jump ship. You simply cannot screw your customers and expect to stay on top.
- slinky317, on 07/01/2008, -2/+5I'm happy with Verizon.
- peestandingup, on 07/01/2008, -0/+5I've said from the beginning that the AT&T/Apple alliance would spell bad news for customers overall.
If anyone will break this sorta old wireless mold, it won't be Verizon because they're guilty of the same crap.
All eyes on Google. - dunktim, on 07/01/2008, -1/+8But he does have a monopoly on the black turtleneck.
- auricomnet, on 07/01/2008, -1/+4Yes he does.
- punkcat, on 07/01/2008, -2/+6I love Verizon, they are comedy gold in the tech news.
first the Instinct advertisements and now this.- Ducttape38, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1You do realize that Sprint has the Instinct, right?
- dcollins, on 07/01/2008, -0/+4Good. Verizon can burn in hell. They SUCK! As soon as I am done sponging off my families share plan and get my own line when I'm out of college, I am getting as far away from Verizon as possible.
- B1663r, on 07/02/2008, -3/+2Soooo... You resent Verizon because its what your parental unit buys you??? OMG, thats kinda sad and funny at the same time....
- skyh, on 07/02/2008, -0/+3You totally missed his point.... badly..
He's saying the only reason he uses Verizon is cause his parents are paying for it... he doesn't dislike it because his parents are paying for it.

- fezzasus, on 07/01/2008, -0/+3He's correct, Jobs doesn't have a monoploy on innovation, the inability of other companies to produce innovative products gives him a monopoly.
- damnyooneek, on 07/01/2008, -0/+3so bitter.
- Displace, on 07/01/2008, -1/+1Verizon's got fight - that's competition, good for us, right?
Oh wait, I forgot we're on Digg, where normal rules of economics, sanity needn't apply.- ExSlashdotter, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Verizon is an entity thats doing everything in its power to move *backwards*. They've already introduced 5GB/month bandwidth caps on their EVDO internet cards in April. its fifty centers per megabyte after that.
Verizon (and others) must suffer if they want to take net neutrality from us.- chokeaduck, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1It's 25 cents. And the cap was always there. Gah.

- johnpaul191, on 07/01/2008, -0/+3So the article tells us that Verizon bought Alltell and is therefore better than AT&T and the iPhone? Their plan to combat the excitement of the iPhone is wait it out? I guess they realized they have no clue about phones when they said the Voyager would destroy the iPhone..... so now they won't even try. great.
- Tomson74, on 07/01/2008, -9/+5I dont have any problems with Verizon, yes a couple of their phones sucks. Overall the service is ten times better then AT&T. Sorry to say, the iPhone was an overated POS to begin with, and a million of geeks fell for it. That being said, maybe just MAYBE, the 3G version of the iPhone would be better. That will depend on AT&T's 3G network.
That being said, you guys do know Verizon was the first carrier Apple went to for the service agreement for the iPhone, right? Verizon turned them down because of the enormous amount that Mr. Steve Jobs wanted for the phone, and the certain percentage that Apple would make off of each sale of the iPhone.
Hate to say it, I used to feel bad for old Steve Jobs back in the day. Not anymore. Yes, he has in fact giving us innovations that has "revolutionized" technology. However, the first iPhone was NOT one of them. A million geeks will disagree with me. However, $400 for a phone that says it does everything, but really is not different then a Blackberry. OOOHHHH it has a touchscreen, who the ***** care?
No one wanted AT&T, but when the iPhone came out, Digg went nuts about AT&T. It's so funny to watch you guys on here. The worse carrier ever is Sprint. Sadly Sprint started going down hill back in 2000, and continues to decline. Nextel merger anyone? Sprint's engineers notified the executives that it would be 5 years before the two companies could roll out on the same network, and they couldn't ever promise the 5 years. Its nothing new for Sprint. All the changes has to be done at the management level, and that being said, the executives still are making the choices, and the executives are the ones who need to get fired. Why do you think Sprint is trying to sell services when you call customer service? You know when a company is declining when they are A) following the industry and can't set industry standards and B) are trying to sell you something all the time. They preach about customer service, but sadly, doesn't show it. That goes for Corporate America. Preach Preach Preach but can't set examples.- zionKing, on 07/01/2008, -2/+5Mr. Tomson, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
- Tomson74, on 07/02/2008, -1/+1Its amazing that people will go ahead and say its irrational when I don't like the iPhone. Digg users will continue to Digg me down because of it. Sadly, it is no different then a Blackberry. SO what? Its from Apple, it does the same thing as all the others do
- zionKing, on 07/02/2008, -0/+3I think you missed the movie reference (hint: see Billy Madison).
Also, saying an iPhone is a Blackberry is like saying a bicycle is a train (just because they both can take you from a to b, doesn't mean it is the same experience!)
There is a difference, and there is something to the iPhone's software that is more than "slick marketing"...
That said, I am not getting an iPhone because I cannot justify the cost.
- B1663r, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1For me, the number one quality in a phone is CHEAP. Everything else is gravy. I use up about... one phone a year. Seeing the number of young people here who are coveting expensive phones, who don't buy their own phones, it is crystal clear to me who the iPhone target market is... Fashion victims. The technical merits are irrelevant.
- xkorbin, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1iPhone's whole aesthetic experience, OS, user interface, the fact it is Apple, the fact it is open, make it what it is.
It's no overrated piece of *****, your whole rant holds no water. Not a single phone in Verizon's lineup (exception of the HTC Touch, with android possibly), even touches the feature base.
I am not trying to sound like an Apple fanboy, but, they have a genuinely good product, that actually delivers. Verizon's copycat pieces of ***** on the other hand do not.- Tomson74, on 07/02/2008, -0/+0Nowhere did I EVER say Verizon had better phones. I said I have had no problem with Verizon. After looking at endless people saying Verizon was crap etc. Yes, the iPhone is an overpriced in my honest opinion. That what is it an OPINION. Did, I want it to have merit? How could an opinion hold merit. Especially on Digg and with Apple fanboys?
- chrup, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Verizon's service is my no means great. Neither is AT&T's. I have had my share of phone, From AT&T to Sprint to t-mobile to Alltel to metroPCS. Basically, they all suck, some just suck less than others.
I'm now with AT&T for the past 2 1/2 years and, as long as I'm not inside a building, my service is OK. I had no service at home with Sprint or at the office and it's not that I live in the boonies somewhere, this is Atlanta, GA.
The iPhone isn't as bad as you make it out to be. It does what I need, although I'd like to have sync features via BlueTooth as my Sony-Ericcson P910 was able to do. - filmbandit, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1the main reasons verizon passed on the iphone were because a) they wouldn't be allowed to cripple it like they do with all their other phones and b) they didn't like the warranty structure -- namely they didn't get to sell a trumped-up protection plan. they passed and they're losing customers because of it.
- Tomson74, on 07/02/2008, -0/+0Hmmmm, actually where did you hear that? That was so far from the truth. It was open discion to cripple the iPhone till just recently ( 3-5 months ago i believe), when consumers demanded it to be open and support 3rd party software. Lol a trumped up protection plan? My god, all the protection plans from ANY carrier are a joke. I respect your opinion, though

- glui2001, on 07/01/2008, -0/+2I can't wait for this guy to eat his words
- Tomson74, on 07/02/2008, -0/+0LOL oh yeah I am really eating them. PPPFFTTTT.
Just because I am not a fan of the iPhone, people get butt hurt. People like you will always follow the herd.
- Tomson74, on 07/02/2008, -0/+0LOL oh yeah I am really eating them. PPPFFTTTT.
- murlox, on 07/01/2008, -0/+2Hah! Even if I take iPhone out of the picture, I still find Verizon sucks due to their big bureaucracy, especially their customer support department.
- ParkBeam, on 07/01/2008, -1/+3Innovation, No. Good Design, Kinda.
BTW, Verizon = Worst Logo Ever. - sq2shooter, on 07/01/2008, -0/+7He is a fool if he thinks all Apple innovation is coming from Steve Jobs.
- meschmie, on 07/02/2008, -2/+6This place has one huge Steve Jobs boner going, and I have trouble understanding why.
- Darph.Bobo, on 07/02/2008, -5/+1That's because you have a low I.Q. but don't let it upset you.
- skellener, on 07/02/2008, -1/+4He's bitter since he turned down Apple in the first place. Verizon = lame.
- DownIsTheNewUp, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1When it comes to finding ways to nerf their phones and steal from their customers, Verizon is full of innovation.
- trixterIreland, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Verizon should pay its bills (me incl) rather than spend $28B on alltel. They are about 18 months deliquent with me, and many others.
- Darph.Bobo, on 07/02/2008, -0/+118 months isn't deliquent, it's called DEFAULT! Newsflash! You will NEVER get paid.
- Dorian822, on 07/02/2008, -0/+3They had their shot at the iPhone, they were offered it first. Now they are beginning to realize the epic size of the mistake they made by passing on it. End of story.
