- beezn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm a verizon tech support agent, this has been around for a while, atleast 4 months as a service, oh thy also offer 7meg down speed too if you live close enough to a central office.
- psyonide, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I got this done for me back in December. It probably changed since then, but at the time I called they were only doing it in NYC.
You do have to agree to a 1 year commitment, but unless you plan on switching over to Cable sometime soon that shouldn't be a problem. They upgraded my speed in a few days after calling and sent me a brand new DSL/Router combo unit. They did ask me to return my old modem, since I'd had it for less than a year.
Overall, I'm satisfied. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you want to have you speeds double, you need to sign up for a year commitment plan. If you wish to cancel your service any time during that year, there will be a $50 fee. It's cool, I signed up for this cause I'll be keeping my dsl for more than a year, 56k sucks and I can't get cable in my buildinging because landlord signed a deal with DirecTV.

- Fritzy14, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I called up Verizon yesterday and I got the increase the next morning. I'm up to 1.4mb/sec and download speeds of 160+kb/sec.
- ccrook, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Too bad FIOS speeds at the equivalent price is like 15mbps ($40). 1.5mbit (now 3mbit) DSL is like 30 -35 a month - FIOS will be like 5-7 for that much.

I would switch to DSL from cable if it cost 30 dollars or less, currently paying close to 50 a month for cable. I do, do a lot of downloading though...
