- lama, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Brief summary of the news clip that is in swedish:
MPAA convinced the US department of foreign affairs (?) to contact the swedish equivalent on this matter. When a swedish delegation visited the white house, they were informed on how they should resolve this "issue". In Sweden, the police and DA said they didn't have enough material for a proper legal action. The Justice department then forced the police and DA to take action against their own judgment.
This type of action, where members of a department tell other parts of the government how to act, is not allowed by law. A complaint against the minister in question will be filed shortly, if not already. This will be interesting to follow as it ultimately is about when it is ok to ignore the law and personal integrity to please commercial interests. - informatico, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2ThePirateBay closing down is bad, and the American government is behind it is worse. Although there are sites up that cannot be shut down, no matter what Governments can try. Here's a story on it:

- farmergreg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Someone needs to put the DOJ in check, They have the opinion they need to take care of us, however I do not need or want someone taking care of me. Let the Internet live, thrive and grow. The Internet has grown way past someone controlling it. The Internet will thrive and software will be traded and there is really not a whole lot they can do about it.
- rishubhav, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1anyone know swedish? I want to read the actual report
- IceCube, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The information in the other article is "under review" and "may not be accurate"
