- milkmit, on 11/10/2009, -2/+30That's a really big phone.
- Cyriak, on 11/10/2009, -2/+19That was a ridiculous amount of pages.
- ZeitHeld, on 11/10/2009, -1/+14It's basically the offspring of a Macbook Pro and a Windows Netbook. Which is actually a pretty brilliant tack to take in this market.
- borez, on 11/10/2009, -0/+13Or the US market has become increasingly irrelevant of late.
- adeelarshad82, on 11/09/2009, -0/+11Aluminum chassis, that sounds hot. Wonder if nokia will pose a serious threat in the netbook industry.
- borez, on 11/10/2009, -0/+10That's exactly what it runs:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nokia_Booklet_3G - inactive, on 11/09/2009, -5/+13Looks sleek. I wonder how well it runs Windows 7
- borez, on 11/10/2009, -1/+8Well they rule the phone world, so why not.
- theundone, on 11/10/2009, -3/+10OSX is antiquated? Please, do explain.
- Jeegus21, on 11/10/2009, -1/+8Looking almost like a smaller aluminum Macbook. Looks like a bigger trackpad would be nice though. Still, sweet looking netbook.
- jrdaumer, on 11/10/2009, -0/+7Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht unboxing the Nokia before a Diggnation taping:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgbjHTC_aFs - borez, on 11/10/2009, -0/+6They had a computer company called MikroMikko in the 1980's, so this is far from their first venture into the computer world.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MikroMikko - gwtgator, on 11/10/2009, -0/+6$299 with a 2-year contract at a $60 a month data plan -- with other rate plans and prices to be announced -- and a $599 non-subsidized price
http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/13/nokia-tells-all ... - LBUCHA, on 11/09/2009, -2/+8wow. I want it. how much?
- Mangeof, on 11/10/2009, -1/+6Would a video really have been that hard to do?
- S2000, on 11/11/2009, -1/+6Buried for ***** unboxing wanking.
Holy *****, you bought a product and it came in a box?! And now you're opening the box?? HOLY *****, look, there it is, right in the box!! Ooohhh, and a power adapter too! ***** off. Also, $600 for it if you don't want a data plan? ***** off again. - theundone, on 11/10/2009, -1/+6It looks like it's running 7 in the screenshots... ?
- Synchro, on 11/11/2009, -0/+4if you compare the specs of the Nokia with your average netbook, the Nokia is a bit higher end. Screen resolution is more, has bluetooth, HDMI, etc. etc. It is more than barebones is what I am getting at.
- removesstains, on 11/10/2009, -3/+7I want to see it run Ubuntu 9.10 Netbook Remix.
- defwheezer, on 11/10/2009, -1/+4Sure is a far cry from my first 'micro notebook': The Trash 80 M100
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e9 ... - N0DIGGITY, on 11/10/2009, -0/+3I saw this in best buy the other day, and it is really nice. The body feels solid, and performance on W7 is up to par with the other netbooks
- mattluiz, on 11/10/2009, -1/+4It's by far one of the nicest netbooks but the mandatory data plan is the killer. Ditch the $60 a month plan and I'm in.
- PoliticalMan922, on 11/10/2009, -3/+6I look at it from a different perspective. Nokia hasn't really tried to step into this before, but suddenly, they want to. It makes me wonder that maybe Nokia is getting nervous about the future and wants to try and create another market to stay alive. It looks cool, though.
- lazyslacker, on 11/10/2009, -0/+3I might be wrong but Win 7 Starter is just for emerging markets, i.e. not the U.S.
Edit: nevermind it's running starter. Ah well. - JQP123, on 11/10/2009, -0/+3Overpriced with bad market timing just as Intel is about to update their Atom processor line.
- peestandingup, on 11/10/2009, -1/+4Not with a $600 price tag it wont.
True, you COULD get it cheaper at $300, but signing a 2 year contract on a laptop wireless plan is ***** stupid. Especially the ***** network that is AT&T. - AlienMushroom, on 11/10/2009, -1/+3AT&T killed the deal.
- AlienMushroom, on 11/10/2009, -0/+2Alex Albrecht has a douche bag hair style.
- Synchro, on 11/11/2009, -1/+3Latest reports I have seen say that Atom support was added back in as of the final dev seed and final version.
- andrejhoward, on 11/10/2009, -1/+3They added it back.
- postalblowfish7, on 11/14/2009, -0/+1i love it when i have to load a new page of ads for EVERY SINGLE ***** PICTURE.
- mirunit, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1Why would you want to do that? Especially since, as you stated, "right after the opening bracket of the class definition". The 3G radio is likley going to be more than zero-config. It would likley be possible to install windows 7 professional.
- LBUCHA, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1that's so sad! :(
- pandawa, on 11/10/2009, -1/+2its so small id be afraid of losing it somewhere
- MarkyBear, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1Would it really be that hard to put all those damn pictures on one page? Oh yeah, you wouldn't have the chance for ad revenue on each MF page. Everyone please stop looking at this crap and maybe they'll stop and give us content we want.
- Leopards, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1Will probably run Ubuntu 9.10 just fine, though don't be the first to try it unless you are really good at figuring out how to get obscure hardware to work right! Then again it might just be plug and play, Ubuntu recognizes more hardware "right out of the box" with each release! To be safe you could always do a dual-boot or WUBI install!
- tedades, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1Would be nice if it somewhere mentioned the specs, now I have to google them and I'm lazy!
(i already found them though, atom z530/1GB/120GB, nothing special except 3G and GPS) - Synchro, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1unfortunately most netbooks I have seen with Windows 7 all come with starter edition. sucky restrictions!
- sirbeta, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1The submitter probably should have linked to the "All Slides" mode.
http://www.pcmag.com/slideshow/0,1206,l%253D245824 ... - sirbeta, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1The sad thing is I'm not even sure what the point of Starter is. It seems to place restrictions so ridiculous, no one in their right mind would want to have it. Home Basic (Emerging Market version) should have been the lowest grade version, in my opinion.
Perhaps it was Microsoft's way to get people to purchase Windows twice; I'm not sure. I think Home Basic would have been a snug fit on Netbooks. - sirbeta, on 11/10/2009, -1/+2Wow, that little thing looks fantastic... I would love to get my hands on one of those. I wonder what the specs are. Not a fan of Win 7 Starter though; can't even change the wallpaper. That's an amazingly lame restriction.
- theundone, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1Would be nice if there was actually some 3G coverage in my area. I live in a 3G dead zone and have to drive no less than an hour just to get it.
- Leopards, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1Damn, you're right AT&T probably have that locked down to the OS! Oh, Well I wasn't in the market for one anyhow! Probably have it tied down like a cell phone! Of course the models for the rest of the world won't be like that, they can only get away with that in the US!!
- Giac, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1it looks really nice...but its just too expensive..I saw it on sale in Belgium for 827€!!! thats over 1000$ :(. Plus you can upgrade the RAM and there's no ION variant either
- tedades, on 11/10/2009, -1/+1It wont since apple removed support for Atom or you should use a older OSX version (that might not run because of lacking hardware support and such).
- joolsca, on 11/11/2009, -1/+1I SOOO want one of these!
- immatellyouwhat, on 11/10/2009, -5/+4THEN WHO WAS LAPTOP?!
- BigLou, on 11/10/2009, -3/+1I'd like to know what makes up the hardware. Most likely it will be your average sub-par netbook specs... but still, it looks amazing.
- borez, on 11/10/2009, -10/+8If it ran OSX, then I'd be in a shop tomorrow buying one quite frankly.
- borez, on 11/10/2009, -5/+2Because non of the other antiquated operating systems run the programmes that make me money.
