Best demonstration that a company has bad DNA and is rotten to the core, when even its PR people are the sum of cynical, offensive about customers, derogatory/dismissive about the competition, and stupid enough to pre-dial someone's number before a conversation ABOUT them. Incompetent and rude. Probably rather tense in the O2 press office right about now...

As one of the "techie nerds" that they obviously do not want as a customer, I'll be transferring my phone contract to another provider when the one I have finishes. I'd like to thank O2 for over 5 years of trouble-free service, but I won't stay where I'm obviously not wanted. I'm not a mobile data user, because I'd like to be offline for at least 5 minutes every day - no really, I'm yet to discover a time when the mobile data service was a neccesity for me rather than a novelty with a tiny screen.
As for being a "Muppet", I'll evaluate all the providers (other than T-Mobile because of their attempts to copyright/trademark/whatever the colour Magenta) - I guess that leaves Vodaphone and 3 because I won't touch Orange with a bargepole either. So there's a 50% chance I'll be a muppet.
At least I won't be an arse hole. - stephendowning, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1I've just spoken to the lady responsible for the accidental call to Bill Ray, she is mortified to have made such a mistake. She apologised if I was offended and was very clear she wasn't talking about Register readers or O2 customers.
It was intended to be a private conversation, Bill didn't give opportunity for comment, hanging up and just posting the story. Luckily this lady has not lost her job over the incident and how ever much anyone is offended by her comments I'm sure we can all accept that at times we say things in private to colleagues that we would not want publicised.
