- inactive, on 08/16/2008, -9/+521I hope Bono is held responsible for this. If you don't want something leaked, don't broadcast it.
- Lax32, on 08/16/2008, -5/+326So cant the RIAA sue him for making the songs available for other people to take?
- LimeParrot, on 08/16/2008, -6/+318Wow. The dude who recorded it must be a legend in the leeching underworld.
*I don't need to no tubes and no internetz!* - rowjimmy, on 08/16/2008, -7/+284i can already see the discussion on torrent sites.
"is this flac?"
"no, it's rfbs"
"rfbs?"
"recorded from bono's stereo"
whoops, almost forgot to add - +mandatory comment about bono being a self-righteous douche getting what he deserves. - Rahodeb, on 08/16/2008, -5/+215He should be sued by the RIAA for each song he shared.
- solesoul, on 08/16/2008, -11/+221You have to wonder though, how coincidental is it for a pirate to be near where Bono lives, be there at the moment he starts to play the songs (from an album I'd be willing to wager most didn't know was on the way), and start recording?
I'm not calling BS, but it is kind of suspicious. - seinman, on 08/16/2008, -10/+189You don't understand how the recording process works. Playing the album on as many different stereo setups as possible, in as many different conditions as possible, at as many different volumes as possible, is incredibly important. You have to make sure that the mix is exactly how you want it, and will sound as good as possible for as many people as possible.
I may have used the word possible too much in this post, though, and for that I apologize. - Bjango, on 08/16/2008, -52/+211I dislike U2
- inactive, on 08/16/2008, -5/+152Bono is number 2.
- punkcat, on 08/16/2008, -11/+152the dude loves himself so much he blasts his own songs.
- inactive, on 08/16/2008, -3/+102I was expecting an article from the Onion. Now that I've read it, sounds like a cheap publicity stunt. People get to hear 4 bad quality songs but will still buy the album anyway -- being that U2 thinks they're the second coming and all.
- euphoria860, on 08/16/2008, -2/+941..... 2..... 3..... 14!!!!!!!
- lamiaconfitor, on 08/16/2008, -14/+97Leaking tracks onto the internet may just make U2 relevant again.
- PvtJenkins, on 08/16/2008, -0/+66I bet the quality is just fantastic!
- NathanMahdavi, on 08/16/2008, -4/+70Old School
- pe5t1lence, on 08/16/2008, -19/+83Bono has fans?
- shepstl, on 02/11/2009, -63/+124u2 sucks
- hivoltage815, on 08/16/2008, -1/+61His comment is not *****, you are for posting on something you don't know.
This is the process for all artists, amateur to pro. I record music and do the same thing. - consoneo, on 08/16/2008, -5/+62Stalker?
- dood, on 08/16/2008, -1/+54Of course it's a stunt. They're releasing a lower quality version of the songs ("recorded from loud stereo") on torrents and P2P networks to try to gauge demand.
- inactive, on 08/16/2008, -1/+52Marketing ploy?
- stalefries, on 08/16/2008, -7/+54It's not uncommon at all for artists to listen to their own music. If you're not playing music that you like to listen to, there's something wrong with you.
- DrSnugglebunny, on 08/16/2008, -4/+48Stalking Bono.. what a life.
- PovRayMan, on 08/16/2008, -3/+43YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH
- AndrewDB, on 08/16/2008, -3/+40By fan, do we mean Bono himself, and by playing them too loudly do we mean leaked them himself for publicities sake?
For some strange reason, that's the only way I'd believe this. - pe5t1lence, on 08/16/2008, -3/+40He is almost 80 Kurichs! (or Couric's -whichever)
- sweetBeats, on 08/16/2008, -1/+36Disconnected from the internet? Good joke.
- 0tis, on 08/16/2008, -2/+37Publicity stunt? Bono?

"U2 Sue over Bono's Trousers"
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2005/jun/29/artsnews. ... - Bjango, on 08/16/2008, -2/+37It's all good dude, I just don't care for it.
I wouldn't bury you because you like music that is different than mine. - inactive, on 08/16/2008, -3/+37Yeah right it was "leaked". Nice try Bono, I'm sure he was listening to his own tracks too loud on the stereo around fans. Two words: viral marketing.
- DarkLance, on 08/16/2008, -3/+37Knowing Bono, he was so enthralled with his work, he played them on full blast, 24 hours a day, and repeat. Someone recorded them to play to the police when filling a noise complaint, and one of his friends happened to say, "Why don't you put that on the internet?"
- jester55, on 08/16/2008, -1/+33so where's the link to the torrent?
- Erectile, on 08/16/2008, -1/+32I wonder if McGuinness is an Irish name?
- atgmac, on 08/16/2008, -1/+31The customers are the real hands that feed and they still sue them.
- triskele, on 08/16/2008, -4/+34They could, and by all accounts should, but "Don't bite the hand that feeds."
- nofate2029, on 08/16/2008, -0/+28hold me, thrill me, kiss me, SUE me!
- ultraJesus, on 08/16/2008, -30/+57I like U2. Hoping for a good new album.
- inactive, on 08/16/2008, -10/+37U2 can ***** off, they don't pay tax here because they fiddle with loopholes and when the law was changed they move their business to holland.
Bono and the boys, the self righteous arseholes, can go ***** themselves. - pdizz, on 08/16/2008, -1/+27If you play it that loud, it is being publicly broadcast. Tough luck Bono.
- MattElmore, on 08/16/2008, -8/+33Bono
- magus_melchior, on 08/16/2008, -0/+251... 2... 5!
3, sir!!
... 3!! - revjustin2, on 08/16/2008, -3/+25Lest you forget, U2 is still one of the most popular bands in the world with millions of fans. These guys have people following them around everywhere you go and there are PLENTY of them who were VERY aware that this album was coming out. The fact that someone was outside Bono's house with a recording device is not hard to imagine at all. Also, the fact that Bono was playing the album loudly really shouldn't be a surprise. Anyone who's ever tracked an album is going to want to hear the mixes played back in a variety of settings. It's not like they walk into the studio, play their instruments and then an album pops out.
- rand0mm0nkey, on 08/16/2008, -6/+26U2 sucks AND I dislike them.
- slym2k, on 08/16/2008, -10/+29What's a Bono?
- catwoman2970, on 08/16/2008, -1/+20so where are the tracks?
- Protoss, on 08/16/2008, -0/+18What? I honestly don't think Radiohead cared that some people preferred to get their FREE album through alternative means. They said themselves that the whole point of this was to get In Rainbows out there ASAP, and not BS around with record labels who would have most likely wanted to change the album....
- TheDefiant, on 08/16/2008, -1/+17You have exceeded your exclamation mark use for the month.
- aelias, on 08/16/2008, -4/+19Standard mix volume is between 85-90db, anything louder than that is useless to use for "testing" as your ears start to do funny things to the sound due to the logarithmic way humans perceive sound.
The only reason to have your music turned up that loud is because, well, you like listening to it that loud. Which is fine. Just don't be shocked when someone with a decent portable recorder snags your tunes.
I'm still not convinced that this whole thing isn't a stunt. -
