- MScrip, on 06/07/2009, -4/+19Can we have verified e-mail accounts to cut down on spam?
</more important cause> - katieface, on 06/07/2009, -11/+21***** twitter.
- MargotCross, on 06/07/2009, -1/+10i didn't know so many people passionately hated twitter.. it really doesn't seem like mild hatred. it seems like kanye style hatred.
- ncapone, on 06/07/2009, -6/+14This is a good thing, because 2 of my 8 followers are spam.
I'm so lonely. - Barackalypse, on 06/07/2009, -2/+10My plan has been 100% successful in avoiding such Twitter abuse, I don't read Twitter.
- inactive, on 06/07/2009, -2/+9Isn't there some sort of news section on twitter? why do I need to get twitter updates on digg?!
- Toon, on 06/07/2009, -1/+8I don't know what this means, but I love it and by the time I finish writing this comment it will probably be the only visible thing on the page.
- JulyZerg, on 06/07/2009, -5/+11***** TWITTER!
- jonglebeats, on 06/07/2009, -0/+5I'll follow you.
- samsmartjr, on 06/07/2009, -2/+7Guess you'll just have to stick to Myspace for your fake personas.
- understudy, on 06/07/2009, -0/+3Twitter is so 2009.
_ - algaeturd, on 06/07/2009, -6/+8***** Twitter. ***** the ***** that use it.
- MotoringBlog, on 06/12/2009, -0/+2so you mean now Homer Simpson will have his personal "verified Homer" account??
- inactive, on 06/07/2009, -1/+3This is why we can't have nice things.
- Hedison, on 06/07/2009, -0/+2It's about time. Perhaps it will reduce the frequency of twitter scams
http://digg.com/d1mXMM - Twee, on 06/07/2009, -1/+3I think a lot of websites would benefit from having verified users. Especially myspace.
- YorickBrown, on 06/07/2009, -0/+2Except we're not trying to be anybody. For Twitter it's about people not posing as celebrities or anybody else.
- itsaplayonwords, on 06/07/2009, -1/+2Dugg. Why can people say "***** Twitter" when nobody gives any valid reason, but god forbid someone has a different opinion.
- beabis, on 06/07/2009, -0/+1There's some troll on digg who pretends to be Kevin Rose.
- beabis, on 06/07/2009, -0/+1"Anyone on twitter should wake up and realize they're a boring, unimportant, friendless, loser who should be spending their time on more important pursuits.
Like making a few friends in the real world. Go out and get a life."
I fixed it for you. No need to thank me. - itsaplayonwords, on 06/07/2009, -0/+1It isn't people posing as others that is the problem- It is the accounts that just link to porn or have no updates but follow thousands of people.
- larrimer7, on 06/07/2009, -0/+1So will I.
- itsaplayonwords, on 06/07/2009, -0/+1Isn't there some kind of just general news site where you can post world news and not on Digg? Isn't there some kind of news page somewhere else for Apple or Microsoft? What crazy lunatic decided to post this HERE, of all places?!?!??! Oh noes.
- BradBrown, on 06/07/2009, -0/+1It's the sanitized version of Jizz Rock.
- LatestAlbum, on 06/10/2009, -0/+1now I follow 2 Anjelinas and 3 Britneys,,, and will follow following
- chamorro, on 06/07/2009, -0/+1So are they gonna verify every and any account? What about the non-famous like us digg users who use twitter? They need to update their terms of agreement to "impersonate any ***** you want, this is the internets".
- sheldonhuelin, on 06/07/2009, -0/+1It's about time, too much spam going on
- oseymour, on 06/07/2009, -5/+5I think this is a great idea, especially for well known and public officials.
- philodygmn, on 06/08/2009, -1/+1No, bitch, I was bitching about Twitter's quashing it just like ISPs do on behalf of the entertainment industries. They hassle ISPs when they're legally immune rather than stick to suing individuals and adapting to a legit business model (or dying off completely); Twitter would hassle anyone who wants a creative online handle instead of refusing to be complicit in chilling speech instead of potential complainants sticking to civil suits and libel if they have a grievance against someone's speech. But I didn't think I'd have to spell out every nook and cranny of the connotations to which my analogy alluded. Take a remedial reading course, *****. Christ, it's almost to the point it's not even worth commenting on Digg when most of its users are this brain-dead! Oh, and thanks to all you losers who dugg me down because you _thought_ I _might_ be "complaining" "against" free speech! With friends like this, does liberty need enemies?
- YorickBrown, on 06/07/2009, -1/+1How is porn a problem? I don't get it.
- inactive, on 06/07/2009, -1/+1After reading your first paragraph, all I can say is...what?
Oh, no...I can say one other thing...bitching about free speech in this case makes you look ignorant. And I THINK you were bitching about free speech in that paragraph. But it was written so horribly I can't tell for sure. - rabbro, on 06/07/2009, -1/+1Now I'm gonna have to give up my 'billgates' account :o
- evergrim, on 06/07/2009, -4/+3I have and will always contend that twitter exists to serve the egos of a small group of famous people who think they haven't already had enough exposure and attention from all the magazines, TV shows and movies they are in, now they want us to obsess over their every inane thought on the internet as well.
- ericdano, on 06/07/2009, -3/+2What kind of name is BIZ STONE? Seriously.......
- lolmax, on 06/07/2009, -2/+1I use twitter to build some recognition and promote a new business I'm going to launch soon.
I really do not understand all the hatred for Twitter. Yes many people twitter about useless things.....but no *****! Twitter, like any other social networking service and even sites like digg, is simply another reflection of people's mindstates and perceived realities.
You people do realize that all of you say the exact same mundane, pointless things to the people you know during your everyday life, right? You tell people you are going to take a nap, that you just ate lunch at so and so restaurant, that you are going to see a movie...etc. I don't see any different telling it to some people on the internet who choose to associate themselves with you. I'm sure some of the people who say "***** TWITTER" all the time even have Facebook accounts where they post insignificant and useless things about themselves on a regular basis.
Myspace, twitter, facebook, etc...these are all places where there are many quality, intelligent and worthwhile people exist. To ignore this and pretend that these groups of people only deserve being despised and ridiculed is shortsighted, ignorant and close-minded. The way I see it, to hate someone simply because they are part of these groups is just another ***** form of "us vs. them". Just people showing their lack of acceptance and understanding that we are all equal parts of the same whole.
There is good and bad found in many things....I've made lifetime friendships, valuable business relationships and learned a lot about humans because of these social networking tools. If you can't find how to make these things useful, or to garner some kind of happiness from them, then thats fine. But being spiteful and hateful simply because you do not understand or care to use something is pitiful.
We are social creatures and like to talk about what we are doing in our lives. Be a human, have some empathy. Grow the ***** up and stop throwing around your misguided negativity every chance you get. - keyo, on 06/07/2009, -3/+2Hai gaise, is there a way to filter out twitter content in firefocks. So sick of hearing about this ***** fad.
- ackack, on 06/07/2009, -2/+0Anyone on twitter who doesn't have at least 20 followers (actual followers, not the spam-twits) should wake up and realize they're a boring, unimportant, friendless, loser who should be spending their time on more important pursuits.
Like making a few friends in the real world. Go out and get a life. - Pradeek, on 06/07/2009, -5/+3#fail
- manatee, on 06/07/2009, -7/+4LOL it's so good to see Digg getting spammed with links like above.
P.S. Twitter bores me. - Wheelingdude86, on 06/07/2009, -4/+1oh...
- weedancer, on 06/07/2009, -9/+3Honestly, how in the world did this make the front page? Either it's a really slow news or were doomed if we care that much about twitter.
- middlecon, on 06/07/2009, -11/+4Seems like he is saying one thing and doing another. People are kind of dumb and internet goes without alot of fact checking, in LaRussa's case you might have people who are so clueless as to believe he was making light of his players deaths. I'm all for parody but I think he's right in this case.
- adsighted, on 06/07/2009, -8/+0Yeah..finally we can keep fictitious tweet-rian out.
- superherofive, on 06/07/2009, -9/+0superherofive to not give a ***** about 'twitter' this summer or ever
- philodygmn, on 06/07/2009, -12/+3File under net neutrality how stupid it is expecting services to chill speech in the interests of persons who if they have anything to complain about may sue for defamation or libel in civil court. Twitter's demonstrated themselves to be even worse than ISPs raping consumer privacy, in its way, by muzzling users over something much more innocuous.
As for the tweet referencing the dead pitcher and so forth, I'd like to know which team members took it seriously to have been caused "emotional distress". - rdvon, on 06/07/2009, -13/+4LONG LIVE TWITTER!!!!!
- kstein1110, on 06/06/2009, -14/+4I can only hope that they will take the necessary steps to verify my account.
- serobill, on 06/06/2009, -15/+5FTA: "The accounts will feature a special seal indicating that they belong to the person (or persons) they say they belong to. "
