- Mokshaguy390, on 04/01/2009, -0/+49You know, after years of seeing typical and unoriginal stuff for April Fools, this reminds me why we have the holiday.
"Most [newspapers] now offer Twitter feeds of major breaking news headlines, while the Daily Mail recently pioneered an iPhone application providing users with a one-click facility for reporting suspicious behaviour by migrants or gays." - drunkenmonkey87, on 04/01/2009, -5/+41Very good April Fools!
- itsmoirob, on 04/01/2009, -1/+19Although the comments about Stephen Fry is FACT.
- jiminynuggets, on 04/01/2009, -1/+17'Major stories already completed include..."JFK assassin8d @ Dallas, def. heard second gunshot from grassy knoll WTF?"'
- loudribs, on 04/01/2009, -0/+610 to 1 that the App Store is going wild with Daily Fail readers hankering after their Shop a *****/Immigrant App.
- SoundJudgment, on 04/01/2009, -0/+5A news headline slightly ahead of its time.
- zenserve, on 04/01/2009, -0/+5The Grauniad's now legendary "Return to San Serriffe" story from ten years back is also well worth a read:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/theguardian/1999/apr/01/ ... - Gguillorn, on 04/01/2009, -1/+6What's so funny is that I could totally see that happening.
- Speedy7, on 04/01/2009, -2/+6It's funny because its an April Fool's joke.
- swmbuk, on 04/01/2009, -0/+4Man I have a whole lot more respect for the Guardian!
- paulsmith288, on 04/01/2009, -1/+4you forgot to mention the app also has special link to donate to the tories , UKIP or BNP.
- swimtwobirds, on 04/01/2009, -0/+3yes. that man's twittering is a tad out of control.
- widdershins, on 04/01/2009, -0/+3Ha ha, actually quite a good satire as well as April Fool's.
- Speedy7, on 04/01/2009, -0/+2I mean that I forgot that it was April 1.
- Speedy7, on 04/01/2009, -1/+3I actually believed it and thought WTF? until I saw the April Fool's 2009 list.
- sinuegoist, on 04/01/2009, -0/+2This one is atleast clever and has taste. Most April Fools jokes you see in media this year are rubbish.
- ChemiosMurphy, on 04/01/2009, -0/+2Damn, that one almost had me.
- coloma, on 04/01/2009, -0/+2yes! Picard just bounced up saying something about the Borg ... WTF?
- techdever, on 04/01/2009, -0/+2O HAI
- raynar, on 04/01/2009, -0/+2not really. everyone expects crap today. If they did it in 2 weeks, then I would be fooled.
- aaron.dunlap, on 04/01/2009, -0/+2Seriously... I started to think "hmm.. I wonder how they'll do this. maybe separate feeds for each type of news, that way you're not flooded with stori...waaaaaaait a minute....."
- computershack, on 04/01/2009, -0/+1Heh-heh. Nice dig at the Daily Mail too.
- MrChunks, on 04/01/2009, -2/+3Really? Newspaper reports in 140 characters or less? I think you're on your own with that.
- LeadStripes, on 04/01/2009, -0/+1Dugg purely for the Stephen Fry picture.
- MrChunks, on 04/01/2009, -0/+1Going entirely online or newspaper reports in 140 characters? I can see them (and they do already) using something like twitter to support their publication but entirely? No. I can see them using more social networking tools but only in support of their publication until they go entirely electronic in X years.
- igyigyigy, on 04/01/2009, -0/+1Took me about 3 paragraphs to get that one, must be slow today :)
- jonathan686, on 04/01/2009, -0/+1Brills.
W Churchill giving speech NOW - "we shall fight on the beaches ... we shall never surrender" check YouTube later for the rest - Kyan, on 04/01/2009, -0/+1Dude - April Fool's + hyperbole is generally considered a winner.
- zeabu, on 04/02/2009, -0/+1I almost believed it.. "news"-paper, what a joke.
- lachcorp, on 04/02/2009, -0/+1Currently, 17.8% of all Twitter traffic in the United Kingdom consists of status updates from Stephen Fry, whose reliably jolly tone, whether trapped in a lift or eating a scrumptious tart, has won him thousands of fans. A further 11% is made up of his 363,000 followers replying "@stephenfry LOL!", "@stephenfry EXACTLY the same thing happened to me", and "@stephenfry Meanwhile, I am making myself an omelette! Delicious!"
- krogothwolf, on 04/01/2009, -0/+1The Guardian's April Fools day pranks are to easy to spot. The writer of the article is always an anagram of April Fool.
Rio Palof = April Fool - dross1260, on 04/01/2009, -0/+1That's as funny as the Chicago Sun Times bankruptcy! Adapt or die.
- leonsingfoong, on 04/01/2009, -0/+1Twitter licks balls.
- whoreable, on 04/01/2009, -0/+1140 characters.
- darkism, on 04/01/2009, -0/+1Plenty of people have called it "sensationally popular" before today, and I just don't see it.
- JanTik, on 04/01/2009, -4/+4*****, I got so excited I swallowed the whole box of chocolates.
- thewonster, on 04/01/2009, -0/+0I wish some major newspaper had the balls to make their cover "North Korea Nuke Heading for Hawaii" or "Obama orders invasion of Pakistan". I think it would be much better then these april fool's jokes that get 3 retirees before they realize its April 1, 2009.
- kissedbypixis, on 04/01/2009, -1/+1Too bad its not true, then people would stop linking to it on Digg.
- darkism, on 04/01/2009, -1/+1I love Twitter, but calling it "sensationally popular" is a bit of a stretch. Does anyone actually use it besides developers, gurus, journalists and a handful of celebrities?
- dlan4327, on 04/01/2009, -3/+3Anybody else creeped out by these little images that keep popping up with captions?
- THWilson, on 04/01/2009, -0/+0"OMG Hitler invades Poland" is classic
- slantyeyed, on 04/01/2009, -1/+1i wouldn't be surprised if this was true, everyone's all twitter crazy, ha.
- Gguillorn, on 04/01/2009, -0/+0I'm not saying it would be good or widespread, but are you really saying that you can't imagine at least one newspaper trying this out? Hell, newspapers are soon going to be desperate enough to do anything. I can't wait to be facebook friends with the New York Times.
- teflonking, on 04/01/2009, -1/+0Today's April fool joke by the Guardian that the newspaper will close and be replaced by a Twitter service is certainly amusing. However, despite the well-aimed kick at the much-hyped message service, the joke may linger as more a commentary on a newspaper industry under pressure.

- TerekKincaid, on 04/01/2009, -4/+1Thou shalt not digg April Fool's *****. Buried.
- inactive, on 04/01/2009, -10/+4HAHA GUYS ITS APRIL 1ST LETS MAKE JOKES.
