- prettyawesome, on 07/15/2009, -2/+66What a poorly written article...
- JohnnyDIGGme, on 07/15/2009, -2/+34OMG OMG OMG! Someone hacked my Twitter account and updated my status to "I am eating a sandwich" !!!
This is horrible, I'm actually eating a pita!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - RealmDown, on 07/15/2009, -5/+37Flash: Twitter has responded to recent security issues by limiting all virus activity to 140 forwards.
- brianpeiris, on 07/15/2009, -1/+31Ok, this is a load of FUD.
If Twitter has a security problem the worst case scenario is that you lose your (already public) Twitter account to some lame script-kiddie -- no big deal.
If, on the other hand, you use the same dictionary password on both your Twitter account and GMail accounts or you publish sensitive information on Twitter (even if you've made your updates private) then *you are the security problem* _not_ Twitter. - collution, on 07/15/2009, -2/+26FTA: "Twitter account gets hacked every couple of weeks, how will you convince users that their data on this service is safe and secure?"
If you put anything on Twitter, do you expect it to be "safe and secure" anyway? Going by this logic, the internet itself is insecure. This article is a joke.. - evil-doer, on 07/15/2009, -8/+24twitter? serious? in the same sentence? hah!
- CptGreencoat, on 07/15/2009, -6/+21Seems like a win-win situation for all involved.
- superkendall, on 07/15/2009, -0/+14You act like Twitter security matters. As a user of the service I am not really that concerned.
- poppabk, on 07/15/2009, -0/+8"how will you convince users that their data on this service is safe and secure?"
Data? Oh my god, what if I can no longer find out what I was thinking about having for lunch on the 14th June? - FormerBabby, on 07/15/2009, -0/+7Mashable = Internet noise
- lelebelle, on 07/15/2009, -1/+8This article sounds like it was written by the Fail Whale's 5-year-old son.
- SpruceCaboose, on 07/15/2009, -1/+8This reply chain brought to you by Sybil Dorsett.
- TheShad0w, on 07/15/2009, -2/+8Good, maybe it will finally fade away. Sorry. I'm not a fan. Just my opinion.
- bstew22, on 07/15/2009, -5/+11twitter update: reading digg comments
- HonoredMule, on 07/15/2009, -0/+5Ok, I give.
What the heck does that second sentence mean, and where does the missing verb go? - inactive, on 07/15/2009, -2/+7OH NOES! NOW SOMEBODY CAN LOG ON TO MY ACCOUNT AND TWEET STUFF THAT I EAT, THAT`S NOT REALLY EATEN BY ME! GOD HELP US ALL!
- andymci, on 07/15/2009, -2/+7It sounds more like users need to improve their password security.
From what I can pick up in this article, passwords are getting cracked, and users who have a single password for all their services are getting exploited (@ev). It's like having a single key that can unlock every lock in your house, plus your car, plus your business - not a good idea.
It's not surprising that this trend would boom with Twitter. 3rd party Twitter apps routinely ask for your username/password, and users have gotten into the habit of just giving away their info without thinking twice about it.
I'm disappointed in Mashable's coverage of this - it's fear-mongering hype. - deviantbono, on 07/15/2009, -2/+7This is not serious. Security has a big Twitter problem.
- inactive, on 07/15/2009, -0/+4Oh no! Hackers might have important information on what people are waiting in line for!
- cryonix, on 07/15/2009, -5/+9Deepest apologies for that little outburst. 3 days no sleep and I just had to do it. Thought it was hilarious at first and now I am ashamed. But it is becoming funny again sooo......
- ohplease, on 07/15/2009, -0/+4Quickly! Everyone! Secure our internet douchebags before it's too late!
- overshard, on 07/15/2009, -0/+4People seem to be overlooking one thing. Most of those who have been hacked had really bad passwords. Some admin had the password "unicorn". They just need to enforce better passwords. This or add another factor to their two factor auth.
- javiero, on 07/15/2009, -3/+6WTF !why the ***** do you keep loggin in? Oh right, its you.
- FKnight, on 07/15/2009, -0/+3Who the hell puts data on Twitter?
- inactive, on 07/15/2009, -1/+4Who cares? It's twitter!
- FredFredrickson, on 07/15/2009, -1/+4Twitter is a big piece of *****. It'll be fun to see how quickly all the Twitter icons on sites like CNN and Digg in the future.
- nepidae, on 07/15/2009, -1/+4OMG WHAT WILL WE DOOOO!
Oh yeah, I'll continue to both ignore and mock twits. - insanebrain, on 07/15/2009, -0/+2"Twitter is a big security problem."
ftfy. - goobly, on 07/15/2009, -0/+2Wait, what's Twitter?
- blue98camaro, on 07/15/2009, -1/+3Seems like such a simple site wouldnt have this many security issues.
- FredFredrickson, on 07/15/2009, -0/+2Yeah, I meant disappear. I had written it differently, went back and changed it, and apparently left a key word out. Sorry for the confusion. Next time I'll try not to the whole message again! ;)
- xninjatylerx, on 07/15/2009, -0/+2you mean that someone can hack into my profile and find out what im doing?!?
this is an outrage - inactive, on 07/15/2009, -3/+5"We will not publish any of these documents."
So sick of this common cop-out. "Hurrr we don't want you to know, we won't reveal it!"
Pussies. Buried. I'll find said docs and post them here... if I find them. - makhyan, on 07/15/2009, -0/+2twitter twitter a stupid site that became a sensation
- kkiran, on 07/15/2009, -0/+1Techcrunch : Shut the ***** up and don't you dare publish confidential 'stolen' twitter information. Totally unethical and it is time we respect Twitter's privacy.
- tattertech, on 07/15/2009, -0/+1It's mashable, what do you expect?
- Phocion55, on 07/15/2009, -2/+3This is my worthless Digg comment about how I am against Twitter because of its overabundance of worthless comments.
........And then my head explodes. - Wayfarer12, on 07/15/2009, -2/+3You are talking to yourself.
Isn't that what crazy people do?

- craftyguy, on 07/15/2009, -0/+1There is nothing serious about twitter... nothing.
- RiperSnifle, on 07/15/2009, -0/+1Those twits ain't tweeting on my *****! I'll twunt them down and tweat them up! That'll tweach em!
- nemof, on 07/15/2009, -0/+1It's not that they don't exist, tech crunch have them and are going to release them like a gossip rag over several different articles, to push people to their site.
Arrington is a ***** and their site has not credibility. - grindmygears, on 07/15/2009, -0/+1How can this be dug down? It's brilliant!
- xero69, on 07/15/2009, -0/+1The only people who need to worry about the security of Twitter are those who use it as part of an application or something. For the rest of us, security doesn't mean ***** when it comes to Twitter.
- inactive, on 07/15/2009, -0/+1=twitter
- strevoir, on 07/15/2009, -0/+1Mashable still around? havent been there like 3 years
