- Saitekc, on 01/04/2009, -16/+692The Trojan included a message: “downloading is wrong.”
Hacking peoples computers is not only "wrong", but illegal. I believe that whoever created the Trojan is a huge hypocrite. - metalgel, on 01/05/2009, -3/+530a trojan that blocks myspace would be better.
- cease, on 01/04/2009, -14/+467I wonder how much the culprit was paid by the MPAA or RIAA to do this? Or if they did it themselves?
- yifanlu94, on 01/05/2009, -6/+254No, the definition of trojan (from wikipedia) is: malware that ...performs undisclosed malicious functions
MySpace blocker would be a legitimate software - inactive, on 01/04/2009, -11/+242***** The Vigilantes!!!
- Me1000, on 01/05/2009, -13/+187***** THE RIAA!
- MrBabyManSTFU, on 01/05/2009, -1/+157No, but I most certainly would take a copy of it and drive it away for free if I could.
- juliohm, on 01/05/2009, -9/+153Well, I'm convinced. I'll stop downloading illegal music and movies right now. Gee, thanks RIAA!
- evilesttoast, on 01/05/2009, -4/+147Wait, I had to download this page to view it...oh God...what have I done?!
- fgump, on 01/05/2009, -6/+147Downloading is wrong? I think not.
Downloading copyrighted material may be wrong, but downloading in general is perfectly okay.
There are many legitimate uses for downloading via torrent. - ArthurSucks, on 01/05/2009, -3/+129Some 14 year old kid is laughing his ass off right now.
- spritom, on 01/04/2009, -8/+98Time to open keygens in a virtual session of Windows?
- yoshman, on 01/05/2009, -3/+88I heard somewhere that two wrongs doesn't equal a right. Who knows though, I might of dreamed that one up.
- judicar, on 01/05/2009, -7/+91A trojan that blocks its own prime means of propagation ...
- ashthecarcrash, on 01/05/2009, -16/+93YOU WOULDN'T STEAL A CAR
- tech42er, on 01/05/2009, -4/+77I doubt it. In these threads, we have trolls who believe copyright infringement is a mortal sin and must be stopped. It's definitely conceivable someone with a mindset like that created this independently.
- sickthoughts, on 01/05/2009, -10/+70anyone who hasn't been doing that for the last 10 years doesn't deserve the internet.
same goes for cracks - copy the exe/dll over to the VM and crack it there, don't ***** where you eat. - inactive, on 01/05/2009, -2/+60I don't do that, I download a ***** load of cracked programs and I've only gotten one virus in the last 2 years, and I was ***** pissed that I got that virus.
- DivisibleByZero, on 01/05/2009, -1/+57Yeah, if you were looking for music and downloaded a file whose name ended with ".mp3.exe", you deserved to have your torrent privileges revoked.
- inactive, on 01/05/2009, -2/+54Yeah because everyone that uses torrents knows a lot about computers right? Have you not seen the pathetic comments on TPB asking for excessive help?
- twiztidsinz, on 01/05/2009, -1/+51.mp3.exe
- inactive, on 01/05/2009, -2/+52"Obtaining something that you didn't earn is stealing. "
He copied it, he earned it - laser314, on 01/05/2009, -1/+45Three lefts do.
- FreddieD, on 01/05/2009, -3/+44I watched an episode of Star Trek The Next Generation where they had food replicators that made a chocolate sundae out of thin air. Before this was allowed on the Enterprise, do you think they had legal battles with the American Dairy Association for "stealing"?
Remember, you aren't just stealing from Ben and Jerry, you're stealing from every dairy farmer in the country. - Saitekc, on 01/05/2009, -4/+44That's hardly a logical counter-argument. Also, pirates being "thieves" is a debated topic. Anyways, I'll leave that for you as an individual to decide, but infecting other people's computers with harmful viruses is definitely not okay, whether they are a pirate or not.
- ryan83189, on 01/05/2009, -0/+39Damn, that wasn't a self playing song?
- malibusurf, on 01/05/2009, -5/+41geeks giveth, geeks taketh away.
It would be funny to work in pc repair now.
"so er whats the problem?"
"websites wont load"
"google.com works fine..."
"no no no those sites that i use to steal music! -oh er i mean..." - muffins, on 01/05/2009, -5/+40XD it only edits the host file? This HAD to be made by the RIAA.
An idiot could write something like this in 12 seconds with VB - FreddieD, on 01/05/2009, -1/+35Two wrongs dont make a right, but three rights make a left.
- saranagati, on 01/05/2009, -4/+36yeah it takes 5 seconds to fix if you know the problem but the beauty of this is in its simplicity. Even as a sysadmin who regularly edits the hosts file, i couldn't even imagine how long it would take me to figure out what it did. I would have assumed something much more complex got installed that was monitoring my web browser and blocking tpb. Then again i rarely ever use windows and generally blame the bad things that happen in windows on evil magic.
- peestandingup, on 01/05/2009, -5/+37Damn you. I must get my pron.
It's the Trojan ***** Block! - tech42er, on 01/05/2009, -0/+31People hate myspace because much of the HTML is a crime against humanity, not because they're wanna-be Chris Hansens.
- Demos27, on 01/05/2009, -3/+32And who cares that you run Linux...
- bravestdawg, on 01/05/2009, -3/+32this is why you make sure you download a good anti-trojan/anti-virus program from TPB before downloading other stuff.
- TonyLocNE, on 01/05/2009, -2/+30Programming Darwinism....
- twiztidsinz, on 01/05/2009, -2/+29I hate the hater, I'd rape the raper
I am the animal who will not be himself
***** it - afx1, on 01/05/2009, -0/+26didn't see that one coming
- inactive, on 01/05/2009, -11/+37The question is how did the company Sophos identify this virus? Are they downloading pirated software from bittorrent?
- tacojohn48, on 01/05/2009, -2/+25I H4X0R3D the internets.
- anshuman, on 01/05/2009, -11/+34please tell me its named "MPAA.fubar2k9.trojan"
- InsaneMachine, on 01/05/2009, -2/+25This isn't the ***** government. They don't have a lot of interest in this besides corporate pressure.
- KevinAndAlexRoc, on 01/05/2009, -1/+23Then they must come to the dark side...
- RlAA, on 01/05/2009, -1/+23Where and when buddy, where and when.
You can be my pirate any day, Arrrrr. ;) - inactive, on 01/05/2009, -5/+26yes...because 99% of torrent sharing is hte latest Linux distribution!

- Expl0siv0, on 01/05/2009, -3/+24Warning: Incoming Mac Circle Jerk
- JackSchittt, on 01/05/2009, -12/+33This takes, what, five seconds to fix?
This couldn't have been a serious attempt. Anybody who even goes on TBP or the other torrent sites would have this fixed before they were done laughing at the retard who wrote it, and that's assuming it even infected them in the first place. - X9001, on 01/05/2009, -1/+21I need to stop showing my dick to strangers in the street, I've showed it to like ten people now...
- Eugenitor, on 01/05/2009, -0/+20I doubt it. Heuristic virus scanners probably already catch it.. if, in fact, it's a virus.
From the sounds of it, it's a combination of a mini-webserver and a hosts file editor. Just malware, but not infectious. - mlvassallo, on 01/05/2009, -0/+19Sophos is a virus database compiler and network security solution for large networks such as schools and business organizations. I'm sure one of their servers picked it up.
