- jsd8cc, on 10/12/2007, -6/+23Shouldn't you not be on a computer to lose weight?
- aantix, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16RunFatBoy is a much cooler name. :-) ( http://www.runfatboy.net )
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13what, was Trainr.com taken?
- MAdaXe42, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Also worth noting that the core concept of traineo is one of motivation - you sign up, enlist the help of your buddies/family/whoever, and they get a progress report - if you're slacking, they give you a well deserved boot up the backside!
- ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9They should have an angry drill sargent as a mascot....you know for "motivation".
"Get off your fat ass, maggot!!"
Patent pending. - becominglumberg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11I didn't dig you down, since I think you meant it in jest.
I recently lost quite a bit of weight (47 lbs, currently). Using a spreadsheet helped me a lot to track my lifting regiments, cover caloric intake, track runs, and all of their affect on weight loss. Moreover, my buddy Chris and I were using different pages of the same format to track our progress in the same workbook, and we would motivate each other, put notes in the others' journal, etc. Without it, I probably would have quit a long time ago.
I sure think there will be many people that find this just one more distraction from their workout, but I also think it could be a huge boon to many. - paulwilde, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Yes. It's called McDonalds.
- inkubux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I also lost 52 pounds in the last 6 months. I was cheating on my diet every weekend, but exercises 3 times a week at the gym and eating no more than 1200 calories per week day. And sometimes less.
but now I'll probably die from cancer because I cut sugar and replaced it by aspartan or sucralose... Diet Pepsi was my craving savior 1 calories per 250ml and taste so good.... DAMN cancer :(.
Garlic Pickles are also a good thing since they only have 2-3 calories each. - jtsai256, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Of course, but this just makes it easier to track your progress quickly... saves time so you can get away from the computer more!
- merm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I took a look at this one. It's slick looking, but I like to be able to just enter foods I eat and have it calculate how many calories/fat/carbs I've eaten. Of all the Web 2.0 weight loss sites I've seen I think www.thedailyplate.com is the best.
- aplardi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Looks like a cool daily planner type thing. I like!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Great design work from blubolt
- Jarrod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I was hoping to gain some weight. It won't let you-
"traineo is about weight loss, not weight gain!"
That stinks. Very cool site, though. - pyromonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Very cool website, maybe it was my misunderstanding, I was hoping that by "weight loss and fitness goals" it meant you could use this service to track exercise even if you're not trying to lose weight.
It didn't like it when I put my target weight as higher than my current weight, which I suppose makes sense since it would assume I'd eat Cheetos to achieve that weight. I just wanted to pack some more muscle on.
Maybe they'll add something along those lines later on? Here's hoping. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3R. Lee Ermey
- jtsai256, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Not bad at all! Thanks for the heads up!
Perhaps finally I can find the motivation to keep track of my habits... - affanjam, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5
http://www.wikihow.com/Eat-a-Lot-and-Lose-Weight - MAdaXe42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Traineo is not RoR, it's LAMP.
- wildleaf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3If ONLY I could sign up! I have e-mail through a .us domain and it will not allow me to sign up. No joke. Oh well, I will use my other domains, but they need a little update on their e-mail detection.
- JaredRR, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3They probably look similar because both are Ruby on Rails apps.
- aplardi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Upon inspecting, this is a really great site. I'm suprised it is free, although I bet that wont last. It's a great record keeping site for anyone, in shape or not.
- techlinks, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4The internets are on a giant shiny table! :P Sorry, couldn't resist.
But honestly, this looks like a great little app/site. :D - BenRussoUSA, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Like webmonk said, http://fitday.com is much nicer. I used Fitday.com site for about 2 months (everyday) and I lost about 14 lbs. and then hit a plateau. Nice website. I think that fitday doesn't have as much eye-candy, but their functionality in graphs and calendars and the ability to keep track of nutrition/calories in diet and exercise is *WAY* better. (it basically doesn't exist on Traineo...)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Am I the only one who found the site annoying? I think the only exercise it would modivate me to do is pitch my computer across the room like that angry german kid.
- f15hbear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It does tick every Web 2.0 box in the fact that the design is straight from the 2.0 toolkit, the functionality is cute and free, and it has no revenue channel.
However, I think it's a good idea well executed, and playing with it has told me in no uncertain terms that I'm a massive fat knacker who should stop stuffing my face and finally do something about the fact that I look like Marlon Brando on a cake binge.
I think this is a good thing, although I may have a pie whilst I think upon it further. - WITFITS, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Incidentally, don't confused this with Tranny-O, which is either an enthusiast site for transmissions, or someplace you really don't want to click through to at work.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2anyone seen this??
primecondition.com -custom mp3s for your work out
(it would go well with this...) - ziggyluvsu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow, digg has lot of fat bastards.
- sadistical, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I AIN'T GOT NO PLACE ELSE TO GO!!!
- mongrel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oh my gosh I'm learning about so many fun 2.0 sites today - JOY OVERLOAD! Thanks all, keep 'em coming! :)
- mongrel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I do find it funny that with all the features in this site, you have to go somewhere ELSE to calculate you calories. Hopefully they'll fix that in a .1 update.
- expertblogger, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1It didn't like it when I put my target weight as higher than my current weight, which I suppose makes sense since it would assume I'd eat Cheetos to achieve that weight. I just wanted to pack some more muscle on. However, I think it's a good idea well executed, and playing with it has told me in no uncertain terms that I'm a massive fat knacker who should stop stuffing my face and finally do something about the fact that I look like Marlon Brando on a cake binge. http://chowsaware.info http://clefsbelle.info http://clotsslave.info http://coyedwauks.info http://cuishconga.info
- burnnbuild, on 11/24/2008, -0/+1You can also visit http://burnfatnbuildmuscle.blogspot.com for great advice
- Navi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'd rather be able to enter individual food items than try to manually figure out how many calories I've had during the day, so I think I'll stick with http://www.thedailyplate.com for now. The interface seems nice though.
- xr56n44, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There's only one way to lose weight and permanently keep it off: lift weights and do some kind of aerobics. Or in other words: eat less & exercise.
- Gism0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like this site! I tried using sites like fitday before but I found them far too complex for what I wanted. All I want is somewhere to write down my daily exercise done and how good my diet has been, that way I try even harder to go longer periods without eating crap food or being lazy. This site does all that and more, awesome. :)
I'll probably not use the motivator thing though, I like to just work away at things by myself! - hasbeen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah that's what I thought as well. Perhaps someone here knows a site for that.
Very nice site nonetheless. - collectivescott, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@inkubux - you know, any kind of pickle is loaded in salt, so its good to not eat them too frequently. There's more to healthy eating than counting calories and losing weight.
- MrHoopla, on 11/30/2008, -0/+1This site is great for those who are trying to keep track of their weight loss progress. And it's free! Here is another great website that offers free weight loss information.

dude....that's just not cool. you can't bring up "an officer and a gentleman" in a discussion talking about angry drill sergeants, to include R. Lee. i mean, AOAAG is a friggin chick flick starring richard gere. come on, think before posting. - jabelar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Neat, but currently only tracks weight change. It would be cool to be able to put in arbitrary (but numerical) goals such as bench press amount, or time to run 10km.
- gooshy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have just signed up and have to say it has a really nice interface.
- soseasy, on 03/13/2008, -0/+1hello all this blog have many tips for guide you diet. recently ,and will add to 10,000 tips

http://www.mustweightloss.com/tag/fat-loss/ - LilGator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Trust me ... besides weightlifting all I do is sit in a chair at work all day ... go home and sit in a chair there ;) Twinkies ... now there's something I haven't tried :P
- mazdagirluk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The developers of this site have been very responsive to suggestions for improvement. A lot has changed in the last few months - I suggest you go take another look :)
- kenziesteele, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1anybody have any idea how this site is supposed to make money? it's free, there are no ads, and they don't seem to be selling anything...
- Markus123, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2They're probably hoping Yahoo will buy it a year from now for $5m, you know, like they do with most other pointless web 2.0 sites.
- AtomB, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5I've been using SparkPeople.com for a few months and have lost 20 lbs and am in much better shape. Check it out!
