Traditional media 'could crush' blogs
media.guardian.co.uk — Victor Keegan writes in the Guardian about sites like Digg and blogs. He looks back to the Today newspaper and how other more established papers in the UK crushed it by adopting it's technology - he's basically saying papers can do the same to sites like Digg by adopting a similar tech.
- 3 diggs
- digg it
- themilk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i didn't read the article i dugg it anyway. but the flaw in this logic is that blogs are about individual expression how are they going to crush individual expression on the internet?? traditional media has a long way to go....
- upyourego, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I completely agree with you and will admit to a slightly OTT headline :) However the gist of the article (as you get toward the end) is that, we managed to crush other 'new' ideas by doing them ourselves so we can get the blogs and sites like Digg. It basically says if newspapers employ bloggers and let users vote on stories (like Digg) people will go the instead as they have 'the trusted brand'.
