- neschek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Bah. I submitted this 23 days ago. http://digg.com/links/PackageMapper_--_A_Google_Maps_mashup . Doesn't anyone check for dupes?
- Vision77, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow. Now imagine if that package were you with an rfid tag on. (sorry I know its off topic but...you'll see.)
- nymphetamine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1sweet! and i am just about to order something and now i'll get to track my package.
- Eschel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1>>"Whats Amazon use?"
UPS exclusively! - timtastic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dupe. Poor nescheck only 20 diggs a few weeks ago. Shows that title does matter though.
- recca, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Whats Amazon use?"
UPS exclusively! - g0blin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It would be even better if you could track your parcel via Google Earth.
- Brecourt_Manor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This does not tell you the exact location of your package at any time. It gets data by tracking the package and tells you which hub/facility the package last traveled through.
So if you ship a package from New York to Los Angeles using UPS ground you will get 4 days without data. You would see your package go from New York to the hub in Meadowlands, NJ. Then its loaded on a flat car on a train. You will not see any progress until 4 days later when the train arrives at the hub in Vernon, CA.
This would work great for shipping Next day air and 2 Day air since its only about a 6 hour flight from 1 location to the next.
At UPS we have a similar program for tracking customers shipment.
Anyway its still cool. Especially for tracking multiple packages shipped from different locations. - Rggoalie3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Ok is anyone else getting sick of the ...via google maps... stories? Or maybe it's just me. Sorry no digg from me for this one.
- diggdeeznutz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Very cool. Interesting to see that a package sent to a location 20 miles away from the drop off center first travels 40+ miles to another station. It then travels 70+ miles to another station in the area of the delivery address before it is sent out for delivery.
No wonder why they increased their rates due to gas prices....well now I see it's not so much the gas price but the quantity used! - mcreator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great idea - doesn't work. At least, it doesn't stay up-to-date. I just tracked a FedEx package from TN to WI. Even though the package has already departed Memphis (the second stop), the site still has it listed as "picked up" from original location -- no further movement listed.
- MacGyver, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1UPS is horrible. I work there and would never ship with them. Packages get beat up pretty bad in their facilities.
- bradp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Digg Effect - Rails Error!
Still a great app... Digg - Namingishard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Whats Amazon use?

Perhaps "Track your FedEx..."

pretty cool...Digg - MrMysterious, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thats pretty neat. I'll digg it.
- Vision77, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Real time tracking is probably available. It's most likely given to high value customers. Hell I know it was available when the last Harry Potter book came out. At my hub they had guards at each trailer that those books were in.
- xenodata, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well, it is very cool. I mean a list is fine and all but the map shows your package getting closer, and closer, and CLOSER!! :)
- valis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well, that's pretty cool and all, but I'm not sure I need a map to track my packages. A text list works fine for me. But I give it a nod as a definitely geeky thing.
- briansalo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Now this.... This is pretty bitchin'
- Freezecool, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yay! I just found out that my package is a half an hour away!
- phillyslickster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's nice to have everything in one place. Other than that, it is the same information that you'd get by entering the tracking information from the carrier's website.
- the_buz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Voip on a DS... who the hell would've thought this? I'm digging because it's by far the most bizarre idea I've ever heard of. Nice find.
+digg - dongiaconia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Track you"? Track me? Are you tryin' to track me? Are you trackin' at me? Hey, fahgeddaboudit.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0neschek, your title was pretty bad. What's wrong with reposting with a better title to share this with everyone?
- BRODEL, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0bah. All it says for me when I enter in a fedex package that I am waiting on is "Application error (Rails)"
- teh_toaster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0needs DHL, Airbourne too
- MasterDwarf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0digg effect. I havent looked yet, does it support DHL?
- jeffta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Doesn't give you any more info than going to UPS directly. Just presents it in Map Form. Big Deal. Adds absolutely nothing to productivity unless you register then you can track several packages at once.
- SweetsGreen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Too bad my USPS package that got delivered 2 days ago still says its in transit.
USPS sucks - digason, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Tracking a UPS tracking number, it is only showing the origin scan and not showing anything about the package going through two other locations. So I'm not really seeing that this actually works.
- cstcy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Awesome, thanks!
- haochi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0SOooooO COOOOoooOOOOL. +Dig.
- spacebar14, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Rails error. w/e that is!
- packagemapping, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0RRHarmon.com/tracking is now http://www.PackageMapping.com. Features include: Track UPS, USPS, FedEx, DHL packages with Google Maps and RSS. Store up to 10 tracking numbers. Ability to put it on your own website! It really works! Check it out!
- jamesmitch, on 06/09/2009, -0/+0Every time I try the track Fed Ex map thing, I get can not connect, tried about 8 times, this does not work at all.....
- crazysexywebchk, on 01/20/2009, -0/+0Would really be awesome if you could track the FedEx truck and see what time your package would arrive, so you don't have to wait around all day for a package that has to be signed for.
- nazzdeq, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0
Rails is toast. Website hosed. Lame. - Bigbro69, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Lol, the top message about the stats says 'July 10th 2006'.
- emurillo510, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0still cool
- Eschel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Sorry about the double post. I'm not sure what just happened there...
"'Whats Amazon use?'
UPS exclusively!"
Actually, no. In point of fact, I just received a package from Amazon yesterday that was delivered using the USPS. - motionblur, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Cool!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0you can't track usps like that
- marked as lame - Zonkzor, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Sadly, I doubt we will ever seen a real time tracking function for any shipper. Someone could for example track a truck and raid it... or something... I think. Ok I've got nothing. They just hate us.
