- stinkypyper, on 10/12/2007, -5/+113Only great big gas guzzling SUV's and Pick-up trucks will make your penis bigger.
Bonus girth for having any of the following:
- cartoon picture of a kid urinating on another car manufacturers logo on your window
- extra exhaust pipes
- a bed cap proving your not actually going to ever pick anything up with your pick up
- large bars in the front to prevent all the buffalo found in the city from denting your grill - devindotcom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+36You'll still have to get along with the small one for a while - these are all mockups. Looks cool, but it's years away.
- synystar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+30You're just not living up to your name there bud.
- BassCadet, on 10/12/2007, -2/+31$35,000?
If anybody truly thinks a high-performance hybrid with 400hp could be made for $35,000, I have some oceanfront property in Missouri to sell you.
You can't even get a Camry V6 for $35,000, much less a sports car!! - nixonrichard, on 10/12/2007, -7/+36Okay, Ford and GM have equally impressive "concept cars" . . . this car hasn't even been built . . . not even ONE! The whole point of a concept car is to make something look really cool, say that it "will" have incredible stats, and then never build it (just look at the wheels, that'll NEVER happen on a production Toyota). There are a few exceptions (the GT-40, for instance) but it's rare. The whole idea is to trick people into thinking the car is something that will actually be released so they say "wow, this car company is awesome!" Apparently this strategy worked.
- gardnmi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26Eventually every rich highschool girl will own this car and it will be ruined for me.
- huphtur, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17Check out Tesla Motors: http://teslamotors.com/
0-60 in 4 seconds, 135MPG
Our of concept already, and for sale (almost). - djSyndrome, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Because actually accomplishing something without your daddy's help would be too difficult a task, I'm sure.
- BassCadet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10@williamdyer
I agree with you completely, cars are getting much better and faster. And a hybrid 400hp car could be insanely fast.
But I'm not arguing that, I'm just saying Toyota can't do it for $35,000. $70,000 maybe....$35k, no way. - PRlME, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11no he wont jackass theres another million people workin there
- Riker, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11"Nice knowin ya GM"
Yeah, I don't think so. - jsharkdog, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9General Motors had a car this fast 20 years ago, it was called the Buick Grand National GNX.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I hear this is coming out around the same time as the new Duke Nukem!
- wrenchone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Just what every sports car needs, several hundred pounds of batteries.
The original Supra was a hit because the engine was easy to modify, and could take huge amounts of power. Somehow I don't see this new car being as popular in that regard. - Zoologico, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Well, they would likely badge it Toyota and sell it for $35k and badge it Lexus and sell it for $45k.
- Farticus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Bah! Toyota marketing *****.
This car is real, http://www.teslamotors.com
Real fast too! - troymeyer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7How many times have we seen peeps get jazzed up about some sweet photoshop work.
I will believe it when I see it, right now its vapor.
That being said, the guy who said he would rather have this (or any toyota) rather than a Ferrari is an idiot and has obviously never driven either. No comparisson, nice talking to you. - Kink, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I think I'll wait for Top Gear's verdict :)
- Falldog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I’m just posting to make more work for the guy digging people down because they don’t like the design. To quote Jim Norton, “It stinks and I don’t like it.”
- sinner0423, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12It looks great, and it's from Toyota - they're world renown for their quality & reliability. You really do get what you pay for when you buy one, I've seen several Toys last 200,000 miles.
If the Supra is any indication as to how good this car will be, Toyota won't be able to produce enough of them. I can't wait to see what the actual production version will look like. - SeanSean808, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10@ stinkypyper
I hope you mean Toyota SUVs. GM has the best gas mileage in the industry, lowest cost of ownership and lowest maintenance cost. - edmicman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Plus it gets 250mpg....it's a ***** CGI mockup - you can have any stats you want. A car like this won't see the light of day for years, and in reality it wouldn't look or act anything like what they would market it as now.
- ulcards2033, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@n8to
Except that electric cars are an even smaller market than sport cars. - fintheman, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Really?
I'm pretty sure the Chevy LS2 Engines are actually pretty good on gas (20/25) and hp (400hp) see C5 Vette and the GTO for the example. They also pull this by NOT USING FORCED INDUCTION which means less maintenance cost and less reliability problems overall.
*Waiting for someone to tell me that turboed and supercharged cars are more reliable than a N/A Engine.* - HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4That was not the original Supra. That was the 3rd one.
- NoBullet2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"i like american but i love japanese efficiency"
This car was designed in America. By American designers. In California. Doesnt sound like Japanese efficiency to me. - slayerab, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Hey, this beats the enviro hummer.
- utdrew182, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5To all the see ya evil gas guzzler producing GM comments, if you live in the US and GM tanks hello decline in the national economy and it will hurt you if you've driven an 89 civic hatchback your entire life. Same goes for microsoft, and most every other huge comany it's cool to hate. Hell, be vocal about what they do wrong, push for reform, but to wish them to be no more is short sighted and petty.
- cawpin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6@sinner0423 - I think you mean...."It's from Toyota, they're world renowned for their recalls."
Toyota has had the highest number of recalls and recalled vehicle for the past 3 years. Also, 200k miles isn't that impressive. Ford & Chevy have been doing it for 20 years. - goat2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5and it was sexy as ***** hell, better than this *****
- dkirkham, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4bury
- jbarket, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm certainly not going to say they're more reliable, but not every F/I car is the nightmare the FD RX-7 was.
I actually drive an American car with F/I. - devindotcom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yeah, wow... that was seriously unfunny
- wiredclimber, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4http://www.duggmirror.com
- morphkons, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3No gasoline indeed.
Mostly burnt coal and nuclear fission. - HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Bullcrap. There's no way that car will be $35K.
And besides, by the time it becomes un-concepted, it'll be a new Paseo. - krinthekuz, on 09/16/2008, -2/+5fap^3
@betterth: no. that's a diff car by a diff company. not all electrics are the same
#2 = http://www.digg.com/gadgets/Perfect_Electric_Car_Arriving_Charges_in_10_MINUTES_250_Mile_Range - zephc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Concept car + speedbump = QQ
- Harbinger67, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5@BassCadet
Pontiac GTO, retails at $33,000 and has 400 horsepower; outhandles most cars.
Now...about that property...
(yeah, I know it's out of production, sadly :( ) - Shroomie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Too bad it's ***** ugly.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3There was no tuning scene when the first Supra came out.
When the Supra became a hit with the tuners, some people went back and bought old ones and tuned them because they couldn't afford the latest.
When the Mk I and Mk II were in production, there were not "big hits with the tuning scene" and they were BY FAR not big performers out of the box. The original one had 110HP. Although that was perhaps above average at the time, it was not a big performer.
"The final year of the MK I Supra it achieved a 0-60 MPH time of 10.24 seconds and finished the 1/4 mile in 17.5 seconds at 77.7 MPH."
Wow, big performer. - cawpin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@fintheman - Agreed, dually. The Corvette Z06 is the only car in the world with 500 ponies that doesn't get hit with a gas guzzler tax.
- zephc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Wow, you guys need to get your eyes checked lol
- TheBarge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I've had a Ford I bought brand new that's almost 8 years old and I've never had a problem. Before you call me some Ford redneck, I also own a Nissan, which has also been reliable, other than an issue with the brake rotors being too small for the vehicle size, which they replaced with larger rotors free of charge. Some vehicles are just problematic no matter what manufacturer. That's why there are lemon laws in most US states.
As for this car, it looks pretty sweet, but I won't be holding my breath. I doubt it will ever make it to production in it's current form. They may adopt the technologies from the concept to use on future production vehicles though. - dkirkham, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It looks like a stormtrooper's codpiece, I'd rather have the flux!
- firemillen2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2looks like crap. audi r8 rip-off.
- sir_nacnud, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6GM Step up?
With the 2009 camaro having the LS2, which has 400hp, as the base V8 engine, it will cost less than $35,000. As long as GM doesn't make the car heavy, like the new GTO or Dodge's Challenger, it will be well into 12's in the 1/4. This is a lot more realistic than a Toyota Concept. - hackajar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is a hybrid. Take a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horsepower it's not exactly "400hp" as we understand it tradaitionally
- Refrag, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That's built by Lotus and based off the Elise. The Elise already gets terrific gas mileage at around 33MPG on the highway.
