- Dakk, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Here's how I browse Digg... I see an article I might be interested in... I right click it, open it in a new tab, and then open the comments in a new tab (Firefox user here). I go through several pages on Digg and do this with several linked sites. Then I go back and read what I opened. Sometimes I go away from my desk on a support call. But it loaded. I might rate it an hour later. So....
Guess what... some people opened the link and it WORKED, they spent time READING it, and then they rate it after it becomes unavailable due to traffic. It can happen! - MatthewTheRaven, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Many people simply digg a story based on the title or summary because they don't have time to read it now but want to come back to it. I try to only digg stuff I've read and liked, but I've 'bookmarked' stuff in the past this way as well.

Suggestion: When a story gets promoted to front page, the link is automatically corralized.
(Sent to Kevin and Alex just now)
Pocky - Badblake, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Having to deal with checking for cats/dogs sleeping under the car so you don't run over them is one thing....
Now I can imagine having to check for people watching TV in front of the car lol.. Seriously though, I never had the urge to watch a DVD in the headlights of my car. - Bega, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4man, that rsstroom reader, that would've kicked ass.
- bensales, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The Bottle Cap Tripod is a brilliant idea, a bit expensive though.
- Otto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Coral Cache Link: http://www.techeblog.com.nyud.net:8080/index.php/tech-gadget/top-20-strangest-gadgets-and-accessories
- biff198, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3that SatuGO looks amazing. And it's expected to only be $70 for it, which is great given that it will be 3 MP and have 1 GB storage. What a great concept!

- daFilms, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3for $5 you can DIY with these step-by-step instructions...
http://www.jakeludington.com/project_studio/20040723_diy_bottle_cap_tripod.html - tzmguitarist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Too bad it doesn't wipe it, too.
- Bota, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2if the rsstroom thing is fake i need some investors, i know a LOT of bathroom readers who would love to just hit 'move to toilet' while reading something on their pc and be able to continue in the bathroom.
- Otto, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Talking Lips - Silly.
Cardboard Speakers - I can see a use, although not much of one.
Talking Japanese Watches - Not particularly unusual.
Cheating Pen - Kinda dumb.
Cup Noodle Stove - Why not just use a microwave?
Gas Powered Blender - Pure, unadulterated, genius. Everything works better with an engine attached.
Mini Desk - Fine, if you like minis, I suppose.
Wood LED Clock - Very cool. I kinda want to make my own though.
Headlight LCD screen - Dumbest car bling ever.
Rat Race Clock - Clever.
Radio Toaster - Looks cool, but ultimately useless.
Sauce Chopsticks - Dumb idea.
Head Bath Cap - Also a dumb idea.
Bouncing Digital Camera - Very cool idea for a novelty camera.
Touch Rubik's Cube - Seen this before, still neat.
RSStroom Reader - This is a joke, not a real available product. They fell for it.
BriefSafe - Ewww! Use a bank, fool.
Knife Block Shaped like Human Head - I am going to buy or make one of these. Seriously.
Shower Belt - I fail to understand this concept.. You attach your belt to the sink, and can spray water like a shower.. Where the hell are you supposed to use this thing?
Skin Laptop Bags - Vaguely disgusting
Bottle Cap Tripod - Should have gotten better than Honorable Mention, because it's a damned good idea.
Backside Watch - Kinda dumb. I don't get it. - craigtheguru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Some of those are werid, especially the faux human skin stuff. But I've seen the cardboard speakers before and thought they'd be handy., although I expect they sound pretty bad. Meanwhile the bottle cap tripod is actually ingenious and handy!
- ThrasherC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"RSStroom Reader - This is a joke, not a real available product. They fell for it."
I was going to say that. The RSStroom Reader was on Digg a while back and everyone concluded that it was a hoax. It would still be a cool...albeit useless device. - mage1129, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That skin stuff is so gross it is awesome. If it was cheaper I would get. I can't wait for Macy's to come out with their own line called the Hannibal Lecter Collection
- Unicyclelarry, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2No no no... Not the "Hannibal Lecter" collection, the "Buffalo Bill" collection.
- snypa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the LCD clock is fantastic, ***** expensive though.
hated the synthetic skin, just plain disgusting, but the shower cap thing was hilarious. the rest are just plain stupid. - z0l0pht, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Honestly, you could probably hook the showerhead up to most pumps or spigots in campsites for a shower. I'd actually be interested in it for long backpacking trips.
- Cerberus047, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the human skin... does anyone else think of silence of the lambs when you read that
- TimRogers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I would use that RSS thing :P +digg
- dvddesign, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The head bath cap is a japanese product. They bathe sitting on a stool and mirror. Something like this reduces mess and water going everywhere in a crowded room ('cause some japanese bathe in groups) I think this is a useful product to the right person.
- ben.0081, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think I can make a more realistic underwear safe if you give me ten minutes and a jar of metamucil
- Sophren, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Where can I buy the Cup Noodle Stove? Google has not been my friend lately..
(Microwaves are not always an option for me..) - DS513, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Where's the Nintendo Revolution controller? :)
- renegade334, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1But does it have to be a belt?
- Anchoret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Incredibly, I bought #10 a couple of weeks ago when Amazon.Com was dumping them for $29.99, shipped.
Review? Lousy toaster, gawdawful radio. MSRP was $99. Boy, would I have been bent at that price.
Description is also inaccurate. - Otto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It could just be a timer, but it could also be a microwave type device. Although that wouldn't exactly be the safest thing in the world, I wouldn't put it past the Japanese. A wave guide to run the microwaves out of the center of the base, directly into the water, and you'd thus have minimal power leakage and it would be reasonably safe, as long as you used it correctly.
Still, you're probably right, it does look like a timer from that page. - binarypower, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1or the alexadex/mirrodot greasemonkey script for firefox
- binarypower, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Some people are resourceful and use tools like .nyud.net:8090 or any number of mirroring sites....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They said why they would do that (I think it was a story on the front page)
- Dakk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I had to research this because heat, metal, and styrofoam just don't mesh well in my brain.
Try this http://www.rakuten.co.jp/twinland/347292/349935/#382658 through babelfish or google translate.
Oddly, I think it's a fake stove that just times when your chinese noodles must be done from pouring in hot water. It just "acts" like it is cooking for a novelty effect. - attackbat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0YES! Cardboard speakers for $42!!!
- Kev585, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1What a ***** list besides the LCD wood block and the bouncing web cam.
- masteryoda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's webhost could not handle the Digg effect :-)
- greenbox, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2this is stuff is cool but i've already seen some of it on digg before.
- binarypower, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Some ... wait..... most of this stuff is just clever photoshopping.....
- mjordan4343, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0mmm, skin bags
- jhuynh, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1too bad the blog leeches bandwidth from other websites for some of their pics, no digg for that...
- viciousnet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0theyre not just strage.. just absolutely useless
- ShatterWulf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0*whips out credit card*
- slack31337, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2the skin bag that rulez the looks you would get would be priceless . introduce yourself and Ed Gein Jr. :)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Gein - Sparklehorse, on 10/12/2007, -16/+7It always amazes me how a site can go down yet people still digg it on just the title alone. The digg count just went up 15 diggs in 3 minutes since their site went down.
- TimRogers, on 10/12/2007, -12/+2Digg effect.
- Sparklehorse, on 10/12/2007, -17/+5Now make that 35 diggs in 5 minutes. What are you people digging? A broken site or just the idea of a site that contains this content?
/end rant - ZippyG, on 10/12/2007, -20/+0Robots are the gadget of the future! http://xpod247.blogspot.com/
