Stopped reading right there. - DefaultGen, on 05/16/2008, -0/+6Stalking!
- shauncorleone, on 05/16/2008, -2/+8How about "people who act elitist when discussing social networking sites"?
Seriously, just decline the stupid requests. I've declined countless "you've been zombie bitten" and "which looney tunes character are you" requests. This is the beauty of AJAX on Facebook, it's quick and painless to ignore these. As for all the dating site spam and unnecessary ads: That's why they invented Firefox ScriptManager. - Jeffler, on 05/16/2008, -1/+7Execpt digg is social bookmarking and not networking...apparently my web 2.0 handbook says theres a difference.

- SteelFrog, on 05/16/2008, -0/+4I'm hoping Facebook has already jumped the shark and people stop asking me "DO U HAEV A FACEBOOK ACCT!?!?!?"
- Barackalypse, on 05/16/2008, -2/+5Buried for not having #1 be: "Self-important drama whores seeking attention".
- joegibes, on 05/16/2008, -0/+312. Skinny, pale guys who insist on putting a topless picture of themselves as their profile picture.
- fjf314, on 05/16/2008, -0/+3But everyone knows that it's more important to have an inane number of e-friends than to have real friends that you actually spend time with.
And yes... that was sarcasm. - DefaultGen, on 05/16/2008, -0/+3Because people would put their SSN and kinky fetishes into Facebook if only they added a field for it.
- Huangism, on 05/16/2008, -1/+3buried for "top whatever"
all social networking sites are annoyances - DyceFreak, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2ignoring all that BS on that site, I think #1 is no pledge for privacy. On face book you could gain almost enough information to steal someone's identity.
you got your self something thats more extensive than a government criminal database "open on the internet". - KaiUno, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2Yeah, I got that.
I never understood the whole facebook thing. All the folks using it just seem like big fat attention whores to me. - Jeffler, on 05/16/2008, -0/+213. Hot chicks who WONT put a topless picture of themselves as their profile picture.
- bpeacock22, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2"All of that, of course, necessitates a lot of extra clicks and keystrokes, and after a while, I find that I don't really like my friends anymore." Ha ha.
Nah but really, it's the malicious files vulnerabilities and the spam that mostly keep me from joining social sites. Although I still refuse to do Facebook, I've started using Twitter to "fill in" the blanks between major blog updates. However, it's pretty annoying when businesses add me as friends, so much so that I've considered going private, but then that defeats the purpose. I had MySpace once and even encouraged people to join, back when it was new-ish. Reunited with many old friends, which is the beauty of social networking sites. But then the MySpace whore invitations just became too much to deal with and I deleted. Or there's the Facebook issues of the application spamming or that bit about forcing product recommendations on you (which was in the news a few months ago). That's what keeps me away....
P.S. Nice new comment layout... - Frogee, on 05/16/2008, -1/+2There can never be too much porn.
- bpeacock22, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1So there are ways to block the application spam and stupid posts with some scripts? I'm asking as someone who doesn't have Facebook. Where could more information about these blocking scripts and how to use them be found?
- whittmadden, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1I have been sent more bumper stickers and 'flair' than I think is available to be sent.
- buffyangel108, on 05/16/2008, -2/+3Having a sheep thrown at me does it every time
- survivordean, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1I love social networks site especially DIGG. I don't regularly update my MYSPACE and FACEBOOK because I'm busy with blogger. I prefer BLOGGING ang DIGGIN' than exploring MYSPACE or FACEBOOK. But if I compare these two, MYSPACE is better than FACEBOOK.

- shauncorleone, on 05/19/2008, -0/+1If you use Firefox, use the NoScript add-on (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722 ... It by default disallows scripts (Javascript, Flash, etc) to run on every site, and provides you with a toolbar at the bottom to allow certain sites. In many situations, spam and ads are served to these sites from outside domains. So if you, for instance, want to enable Youtube.com to run scripts to play videos you may, but you can disallow google-analytics.com. I don't remember who turned me on to this add-on, but it's fantastic.

- crlnrwnr, on 06/05/2008, -0/+0That disable myspace layout script is awesome. Some people just really have too much junk going on in their profiles, or layer multiples styles that totally crashes the browser...
- gamben0, on 05/16/2008, -6/+6Reading this on Digg... how ironic.
