- hogwallis, on 10/12/2007, -3/+51Or apple is still #1 for taking a bigger 2 of the top 10
- Poland, on 10/12/2007, -6/+39Technically, Windows isn't 1337.

This analysis was done purely out of my curiosity, but this data does hint at the preferences of Digg users. Have you learned anything from it? - Cryptopsy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14LOL's @ Sony.
- yzerizef, on 10/12/2007, -12/+23Here's a little mathematical factoid that I was unaware of:
781 > 787 and 1105 > 1502
You learn something new everyday. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16"Technically Nintendo is #1 having taking 2 of the top 10"
Nintendo Fanboy was so excited that he didn't realize Apple/Mac was on the list. - robdazomba, on 10/12/2007, -10/+19> also apparently i missed digg's fetish with Widows. When did that come about.
Did you really? You know, I'm a long time Windows user, never owned a Mac, but I read a lot of the Apple stories and discussions because I think Apple and their products are interesting enough to watch and I see TONS of anti-Apple trolling there. Move over to the MS discussions and there's very little trolling and troublemaking by comparison. IMO, this thing about Digg being all about Apple is *****. There is a significant Apple user presence here (as you would expect), but there are clearly more pro-MS users here. A lot of anti-Apple crybabies exaggerate the situation. - monospaced, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8They are both unique brands. But I can see your confusion, as each is part of a larger, parent brand.
- OneAndOnlySnob, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Poland helped us in Iraq for a while. How could you forget??????????????????? Don't ever forget Poland!!!!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Well they are no longer cool, since you told us we like it.
- attractivetb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I thought it was weird seeing Sony in the top 10 most popular brands on Digg...then I realized that these are the brands that occur most frequently on the frontpage of Digg. Although it's made a comeback in recent days with the success of F@H, Sony is hardly what I would call a "popular" brand among Diggers.
I was hoping for some sort of analysis of brands with a positive vs negative image among diggers. - nmccreight, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11Brilliant, cause you know that Wii and Nintendo, or Apple and Mac, aren't the same thing.
- smeger, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Digg should stop having these stories, stop worrying about what digg is or doing, just "be" Digg. We know what digg is, I don't need to hear about how we love apple........we know
- GawtMilk, on 10/12/2007, -7/+12What has Microsoft got to do with dead husbands? RTFA.
- Llanowar, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9I bet the actual number (or maybe number 2 behind google) on brands is Blendtec...
We all love the Will it Blend company! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4That is just lame. If the few articles that appear on the Democratic party bother you that much, you must really be a Bushy. I suggest you try out the foxnews.com forum.
- ChewMyFootOff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Linux is not trademarked.
- joey368, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm confused! Aren't "Nintendo" & "Wii" & "Apple" & "Mac" from the same people? & what's with all the stroies about Apple anyway? If you're using a Mac right now raise your arms & hands high.
- ThankTheCheese, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4wait... there's a whole _land_ of poles now?
- thewump, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5"Linux" isn't a brand doofhole.
- Kazbaeden, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5He says he just looked at how many times a word appeared, rather than at the context of the word. All those Microsoft results most likely bash the aforementioned company.
- dustyshadow, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4wii isnt a brand. neither is windows.
- gremos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Why does Poland want to be dugg down? And, why does it deserve to be dugg down?
- Ellsass, on 11/05/2008, -0/+2YAHWEH!
- Dislexus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
- spydirweb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm to lazy to read all the comments, I assume some of this has been said, but...
1. Linux isn't a "brand." It's an identity for a collection of operating systems. Also, is that search generic "linux" or does the author search for Ubuntu, Red Hat, SuSE independently? That would be much more interesting.
2. Why is Wii and Nintendo separated? Nintendo is a brand, Wii is a PRODUCT. Outside of stories about the DS anything nintendo is about the wii anyways. And, guess what, if it's about the wii... IT'S ABOUT NINTENDO!?!?! zomg oh noes j00 screwed up. gg rematch.
3. As above, windows and microsoft being separated is also wrong.
Otherwise moderately interesting... not enough for me to digg, but I'll give it a nod. - ChewMyFootOff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The chart is simply a "fun" factor. You can tell nothing about whether a brand is popular or not. Only thing you can tell is which group of people spend too much time digging. Bury for inaccurate.
- cbreaker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Where do you people come from? Of course it's trademarked. By Linus himself, in the USA.

Dumbass. - liminaldust, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i can't believe the blogger didn't even have the decency to sort them on numbers
seriously.
I wanna take a 2-sec glance and then keep digging for more stories.
sheesh
forcing me to write a comment and making it even longer - Corey1982, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2While I love technology, a majority of articles I see on Digg aren't tech related.
- mikehartor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Beautiful! Rubbish. I'd better go and drink some vodka http://coffeepages.blogspot.com
- *blu*, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i agree... i thought windows and microsoft should be in the same category if we're looking at "brands"...
- XISUPERMANIX, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Popular isn't always good.
- nofxjunkee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3@idonthack (#5923262)
The first few are in order, in fact most of them are. So it is strange that only a couple are not sorted. - cbreaker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"wii isnt a brand. neither is windows."
Then you know nothing about marketing. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Apple/Mac and Wii/Nintendo fanboys have taken over Digg, confirmed.
- NanoStuff, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Not for me, I finally got around to unchecking the Apple section in my preferences :D It sure cleaned up the front page.
- DM01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The Wii isn't a brand, it's a product, likewise with Windows.
I don't care about the other stuff, I only looked at it long enough to notice that products were being listed as brands, so the person must be ill informed or just stupid. - butchiebags, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I digg this little info nugget. And the topic is on "Popular Brands" not necessarily the most loved or most hated. Just most talked about.
- BassJunkie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm also surprised Ubuntu didn;t make it onto the list, i think it's a great OS's but it seems that all you have to do is post some random guide that pertains to Linux and stick Ubuntu in it and it appears on the front page automatically!
As for the rest of the results, no real surprises.... -
