- puffarthur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16At least now we know what to hit first when Skynet becomes self-aware.
- dixonr315, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11So much for the Top Secret part if there is an article about it.
- ArcticCelt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9"Begin work on Death Star."
he he :) Frst thing that came to my mind was to picture a scene where thousand of Google employees work in their underground secret lab as the "Imperial March" play very loudly. - JoshHendo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Yep.... Secret and front page of Digg. Can't get more secret than that.
- CarlosReyes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5wow a google logo with no BETA attached... like the prophecies state!!
- Neticule, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yeah, if it was Top Secret we would never have heard about it. Its just slightly secret, like the NSA wiretaps!
- blanski, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4ahh you took the words out of my.. fingers
- qxcvz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Guys, here's the real question. If this above-ground stuff is the decoy (as any top-secret facility would have to have some sort of camouflage) ... what fantasy might lie beneath?
- sock2828, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Huh i live near the dalles and i have known about googles "secret data center for a year"
- superkendall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Microsoft is currently trying to recruit some Bothans to gain information on this new weapon of the Google Empire.
How odd that I feel like rooting for the Empire... - johnvm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Ahhhhhh, so THATS what Area 51 is! I shoulda known it all along!
- Chasuk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Quoted from article:
"It is expected to be cutting-edge and was supposed to go live in 2007. But given the ‘cutting-edge' part, it has significant risk of slipping that time frame."
Yep, that certainly qualifies as "almost completed." - antron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Skynet becomes self-aware at 2:14am EDT August 29
- tylerni7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Um, I'm sorry but it doesn't work like that. Would you like it if the government could say whatever they wanted about your buisness? They had to have approved the building so they must know basically everything inside of it, which means they know A LOT. They could give details on all the computers that might be a security risk or something. I'm not saying I don't wish that Google told us all this, but I'm sure they will evetually, and in the mean time, they have a right to privacy.
- DarkSorrow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If the data center is completed.... then almost every google labs will be out of beta and in final stage. Mmmmm So that mean Writely and Gmail will be out of beta after the data center is completed? it will be interesting to see that
- badger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1nytimes article has 1 aerial photo:

Isn't this "posted on the front page of Digg" stretching the definition of "top secret" a bit? ;) - haakonn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Rob Enderle is a dick.
- geekchic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So many articles on the web about this "secret" data center - and NONE of them have pictures of it !
I want pictures !
*childish strop* - eluusive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Top Secret? This reminds me of that terrible movie "The Village"
The ones-we-don't-speak-about were wandering around last night eh? What's that aboot!? - Promantarius, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1That's what you call a "Glass half full" attitude :) That or they're getting really desperate to meet their news story quota.
- techxactdubai, on 05/27/2009, -0/+0Google is going crazy
- PepperMinty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@CarlosReyes:
You are soooooo funny! I am saving this article becuase of all of the funny replies! - PepperMinty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Google is not Empire. It is Rebel!
I mean siriously, you think Micro$oft is the rebel party???
That clearly states what perty you are for... - jsmith89, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I believe that if you were to own land near to this facility during the permitting process they would have had to by law provide you with plans and all.
- pgouy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Bdog2g2, you forgot:
6. PROFIT! - HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1The absurdity of a city signing a non-disclosure.
The government is FOR THE PEOPLE, not for Google. We have the Freedom of Information Act for a reason.
Government for sale, and Google is apparently buying. - foolfromhell, on 10/12/2007, -15/+1Wha? Bill Gates retire? My hero?
