- alexace, on 10/12/2007, -1/+46This is why I only go with newegg.

Heh. - theRIAA, on 10/12/2007, -4/+46I ordered a basket of kittens from them once... Tiger Direct shrink wrapped the basket though.. and it looked like someone shot it up with a Mac10, I would not recommend their business.
- NanoStuff, on 11/09/2007, -2/+442GB flash drive from TigerDirect: 2 dollars.
Having your credit card information sold to Russians: priceless. - Ihavethespeed, on 10/12/2007, -2/+41TigerDirect sucks.
Newegg ftw. - kavery, on 10/12/2007, -3/+39Buying from Tiger Direct is kind of like sleeping with the schoolyard slut and then wondering how you ended up with a STD.
- kenvsryu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+33Don't be surprised.
http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Tiger_Direct - rockforever, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21Tiger Direct. Its in the headline...
- bmwboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17How the hell is TD still in business? Every single time I shop there, it is either:
a) Overpriced
b) Impossible rebate process
c) Sucky customer service
Now I shop newegg everytime.. - bherring, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Vasoline NOT included!
- NanoStuff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15There's www.ncix.com
Maybe there are other respectable Canadian retailers. - geeke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13How in the hell do you think TigerDirect makes money? They scam people on rebates even if you fill all of it out right before the deadline they will still deny you the rebate.
start shopping on newegg. - Mousse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Unfortunately, we don't have the latter option in Canada :(
- Twango, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Be warned that TD has a record of being "unusual".
- vanadium77, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9This is a real shame and a good reason why I don't like rebates unless they're instant. FIne print, weird arrangements, time it takes to send you the check (if they do), etc. I picked up two Ultra FlyDrive 2GB flash drives from eBay from rebate-and-resellers -- you know, the ones that clip the UPC and resell the item -- for about $15 apiece and a 4GB model for $25 after reading Tiger's site and not wanting to deal with the rebate hassles because of my inherent distrust of them.
My advice would definitely follow the rebate-and-resellers for a week or two after a really good deal comes out; that's where I find a lot of the truly good deals are. - nazadus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Funny, the part I found most interesting was the "$171.98 after 30 days" part. If it wasn't in the description (was he was browsing) then I would say he has a right to bitch. Him bitching was the least of my problems...
You seem to have a lot of pint up anger.. you may want to see a professional before you pop buddy. - zombieball, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Not trying to throw in a shameless plug, but I like www.bbf.ca, it is a site that lets you search for the best price on comp parts throughout a list of canadian stores (ncix.com included).
- danrock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I bought a TV from them and they denied my $50 rebate because I didn't staple the UPC to the rebate from, I just stuck it in the envelope.
- stevemis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I've gone to their retail store (Raleigh, NC) a couple of times. Every time I came in during the summer, it was hot as hell in the store (80's, perhaps 90's inside) and a freakin' disaster. Junk strewn about everywhere, open boxes piled up... basically looks like a Radio Shack exploded.
I found NewEgg about 2 years ago.. They and one local mom & pop store named Intrex get about 95% of my PC-related purchases.
I once thought CompUSA was the king of sleaze... they now manage to take a back seat to Tiger Direct. - MrPig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7That's not saying much... a guy with blood shot eyes and a black trench coat in a dark ally is better then TigerDirect.
- PoisonousDrool, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7citicards will issue you a one-time credit card number. good luck to tiger when the try to make a second charge.
- milkohol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5This doesn't surprise me at all. TigerDirect is one of the worst stores you can deal with. They have seemingly good deals but they're always through a series of rebates you're very unlikely to ever be rewarded. Suck it up and shell out a few extra bucks and buy from Newegg or any of the other reputable dealers out there.
- abaddono1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I've said it before and I'll say it again, ***** TIGERDIRECT
- mpap89, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4i got mine perfectly fine, but it is a huge pain. If there is ANYTHING wrong with your rebates then they won't go through. i would rather pay the extra 20 dollars then deal with them again.
- ArchonSG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Some things to think about
1) If the price is too good to be true, it is.
2) Go online first to check on items you want to purchase, a little research can save you more then your time's worth in expenses later
3) Don't ever rely on rebates for a "good" deal especially if rule #1 gets flagged - UNL1M1T3D, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Post your spam elsewhere asshat.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Sneaky bastards. Why not just cancel the trial?
- JasonsRath, on 10/12/2007, -1/+485% of their products include rebates.
Burried. - SparkyPine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3My first, and last, experience with TigerDirect involved a "new" motherboard that arrived with the static wrap sealed with scotch tape and the cables being loosely tossed in, no screw pack, etc. Oh, and the board was defective.
- dBLiSS, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I second NCIX, never had a problem with them before, and great prices.. much better then tigardirect imo..
- krinn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Go to a simon mall and buy a visa gift card for $102. Buy from tiger direct using the gift card and charge the $101.39. Go to some store and spend the remaining 61 cents somehow. Wait 30 days and watch the $69.99 get denied.
- hypercube33, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Tiger Direct has always been fishy. I dont know why people trust them so much, since they rarely are cheaper than anyone else.
- Uranium118, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3NCIX is very good. I buy my stuff there. I only pay 6% taxes (I pay 14% normally) and the prices are usually better than in any Best Buy or local store. However there is the shipping price of course. It still is cheaper.
I wish Newegg would be available in Canada. - Ozzy73, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Read the article, it clearly says $2 after all the rebates.
- fsucliff, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Why not just make your purchase with a cash loaded gift card/ visa
- VeganG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Never trust a rebate from Tiger Direct.
I don't know whether to bury this as Lame or Inaccurate. Inaccurate because you will never get your rebate. - CL1FTON, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They still owe me about $150 on a Soyo barebones from about 3 years ago. PC is long gone, rebates? HA!
Tiger Direct defines suck. And don't forgetGlobal/MidwestMicro/Systemax it's all the same company. May they burn.
MidwestMicro sucked before TD/Global bought them, but it was a fair deal, cheap crap/cheap prices. - D3Fi4NT, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Let me tell you a little something. I worked for this company (on the Canadian side "TigerDirect.ca"). If there is one thing I can tell you, it is that they don't give a flying f*** about their employees. So you think they care about their customers. Hell no! I had to deal with customer's rebate issues at least once a day and half those customers didn't see a cent. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that they would try to pull something like this. It is a very shady business. I could tell you plenty of stories. I hope TigerDirect goes out of business! But it won't because of ignorant customers like you.
- MasteRR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Haven't we learned how much Tiger Direct sucks yet?
- xchino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Every single time I shop there, it is either"
You just answered your own question, you had poor service once yet you still went back for more. - brandonr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Does that price seem a bit high for a 2 gig flash drive? It seems like they're just planning on making money when people don't send in the rebates.
For perspective, new egg has an 8 gigabyte drive for 90 with no rebate at all. - xenonlight, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7BURY THIS!
The story is bull. I bought one of these and got the same message on the invoice. I couldn't believe it, but instead of believing that it was some satanical scheme to steal my money, I called both CA and TD to find out whether it was just some simple mistake. As it turned out, it was. The invoices had included a pointless statement by accident, and the price of the flash drive already included the price of the software.
The deal is real, this story and pointless store bashing, however, is false. Try calling customer service sometime mattman12345, digg's got enough bull stories floating around. We don't need another one added to the pile. - uymai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1manufacturer's rebates? thought they were from the manufacturer?
- sephiroth965, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks for the info. I like the idea of the rebate-and-resellers thing.
- shinda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I find ncix doesn't often carry near as many products as TigerDirect often does. End of the day though TigerDirect is what it is, a discount tech shop. There are a few of these scattered around the GTA. Often times I use/visit FactoryDirect.ca. Also Tomken Electronics is good for those living in the Mississauga area, although they are more of a wholesaler themselves.
- ObeseSnake, on 11/21/2007, -0/+1Be careful about buying anything from Tiger Direct stores. I'm sure many of you heard about the detainment of one customer from their Naperville store for refusing to show their receipt on the way out.
Tiger Direct stores require you to submit your name and/or phone number when making a purchase, even with cash. This is not a simple “What’s your zip code?” and your are done but your complete name and/or phone number. If you decline, they claim their policy is to not accept returns on the item(s) purchased. They were at odds when I refused to give them either piece of information for a cash purchase and couldn’t figure out how to override the POS system. This crazy policy plus the militant receipt checking at the door will make me go to Best Buy, Circuit City or Fry’s for the majority of my future purchases. - truck87bp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Who buys anything from anyone if there is a Rebate involved... I've been able to buy for 2 years at rebate prices without rebates.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Rebates are always a scam. Pay the price on the sticker or GTFO
- kavery, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Rebate companies are getting consistently worse. TD is at the top along with eCost or any of their scams.
It's all about Staples Easy Rebates for me. A few mouse clicks and you get the check in four weeks without all the *****. - szembek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sucker. Stay away from rebates.
