- Topher06, on 01/05/2009, -5/+158I would like all PC makers (Apple included) to understand that "frameless" should mean there is no bezel space around the screen. Making the LCD flush to the glass surface is NOT frameless.
- RichardedHarris, on 01/05/2009, -6/+67Too sexy, she would never go for a guy like me.
- Llanowar, on 01/07/2009, -2/+44Not sure if you're going by the listed price of $999, or the fullout price (whatever that might be).
But otherwise I'd love to know where you'd get a HUGE flat screen tv for that price with enough money spare for a pc. - ray4389, on 01/07/2009, -4/+38I'm an Apple fan, but I think it's a great step for the computer market in general. It's a beautiful PC, and yes I'll keep my mac as I prefer MacOS, but every step helps the masses. One day, maybe Windows will win me back, but once I stopped PC gaming as much, they lost me. I can still play my Source Engine games with the help of Crossover Games and I'm content. And as long as MS has me hooked on my 360, I'll stick to Mac + 360.
Good job Lenovo :)
-Sensible Apple Fanboy - upick, on 01/05/2009, -7/+33Whooo that's going to be on my Christmas wish list
- jd33, on 01/07/2009, -5/+30That might be the all around worst comment I've ever read. Dugg.
- viksmaester, on 01/07/2009, -7/+29Well the slanting bottom of the screen is really really uglyyyyyy
- inactive, on 01/07/2009, -0/+22The price will have gone down a phenomenal amount by next Christmas, too.
- LucerinRed, on 01/07/2009, -2/+22By Christmas, three better and sexier models will be out and you will have completely forgotten about this one.
- FutureGuy, on 01/07/2009, -3/+20Way too expensive, there is no apple logo anywhere to justify the steep 999$ price tag.
- inactive, on 01/07/2009, -3/+15"You're getting a way better chip in the iMac"
Ok will the mactards PLEASE price out the options from the websites and not think that the iMac's BASE PRICE is the one that has the 3.06 processor!
Go on take a look at the models and price them out all the way... you ALWAYS get more when you pick the XPS one.
The High end you get a :
Quad core, compared to Apple's dual
NVIDIAGeForce 9600M GT compare to Apple's 8800.
You get 4mb and not 2mb with Apple.
750gb hard drive instead of 500
This at 1900 versus 2200 for apple where you get LESS!
So please mactards price things out before you post useless ***** !! - Elranzer, on 01/07/2009, -1/+13That's ironic. An Apple fanboy complaining that the PC vendors are too proprietary.
- DemDude, on 01/07/2009, -9/+20From the press release:
"For gaming enthusiasts, Lenovo developed the first-of-its-kind 4-in-1 optional remote controller. It is the first to bring PC users the ability to play games using the remote control’s ‘motion drive’ feature, which controls on-screen objects according to the movement of the remote."
Why the ***** do companies keep trying to advertise their fake Wiimotes as "Industry first", "first of it's kind", "first motion-based controller ever! For realzies!"?!
The Wii sells better than bacon, everybody knows that thing, and yet people still try and look innovative by copying it.. - warriorscot, on 01/07/2009, -0/+11Don't think so. The specs on the PC are pretty expensive you could probably buy a screen of the same size and maybe but together a slightly better PC but not by that much as the DDR3 memory would pretty much eat up a good chunk of your budget right off the bat
- Dylson, on 01/07/2009, -3/+14It's January and you're ALREADY thinking about Christmas? GET HELP!
- zombiecarlin, on 01/07/2009, -0/+11Dreamcast fishing rod, motion sensitive console controller well before the Wii.
- kovac9478, on 01/07/2009, -3/+13i, for one, do not wish to sit and poke my screen all day.
- warriorscot, on 01/07/2009, -0/+9Actually I think lenovo did actually sell them before the Wii came out but they were hideously expensive. A few PC companies made similar products but they price was too high really for them to catch on.
- YodaJones, on 01/05/2009, -25/+34Too expensive. You can get a HUGE flat screen TV for this and still have some money left over for a PC.
- QsheiK, on 01/07/2009, -0/+8And too expensive.
- phosphor112, on 01/07/2009, -2/+10Seems like Lenovo has been making lots of snazzy computer stuff recently. Too bad I'm not a fan of all in ones. I prefer to have atleast a functioning monitor if something in my PC decides to go to frits. Besides, I can't upgrade or trick out one the way I like. While All-In-Ones are nice, I don't think they will replace conventional PC's
- Jektal, on 01/07/2009, -0/+8You shouldn't have a TV in the bedroom in the first place!
- Magnus150, on 01/07/2009, -1/+9Then you aren't watching enough porn.
- FishHammer, on 01/07/2009, -1/+9yeah and also NOTHING SELLS BETTER THAN BACON
- inkswamp, on 01/07/2009, -1/+9Not doing a thing for me. Looks like a penguin.
- eliasg, on 01/07/2009, -13/+21The iMac still looks nicer, slicker, thinner, etc. This thing looks like it has saddlebags or something.
- dtfinch, on 01/07/2009, -0/+7The curved shape ruins it. It may as well be 4 inches thick.
- a3leggedmidgit, on 01/07/2009, -0/+7this is what bugs the crap out of me when people are like OMG APPLE NO LIKE BLURAY.
First of all, I see absolutely NO practicality about having a blu-ray player on any screen of any type smaller than, say, 40 inches.
With that said, I see no point having a blu-ray player in a laptop or even most desktop computers to play movies. I don't think it was a horrible move on apple's part to not put blu-ray in their computers. I won't go so far as to say it's a "Bag of hurt" like Jobs did, but it certainly isn't a huge sacrifice they had to make. Even when I sold computers for a living I'd tell my customers that blu-ray shouldn't be a deciding point on your new computer. If you want blu-ray, get a separate blu-ray player and save yourself money.
If you intend to use blu-ray for storage, DON'T. At least not yet because, again, it's tremendously impractical still compared to even getting a 500GB external hard drive or something and just hooking it up to store crap.
That's my opinion. - inactive, on 01/07/2009, -2/+9I would love that just for the remote/air mouse/voip phone.
- lolwutpear, on 01/07/2009, -3/+9"HDMI in, which would let it be a total bedroom TV replacement" - wait, is it common for people to have this on bedroom TVs? My living room TV doesn't even have HDMI in yet >.<
- bmystry, on 01/07/2009, -1/+7This is sarcasm right? Cause it made me chuckle...yea its sarcasm....I hope.
- Chris_F, on 01/07/2009, -1/+7from what it says "Integrated graphics with support for DirectX10 , Optional DX10 256M OR 512M OR ATI graphics" I'd say no or optionally poorly.
- rreadysetno, on 01/07/2009, -1/+7It was Xmas in Armenia yesterday, so maybe he's not as late as you think. On the other hand, it could be worse if he's early for that one.
- digitalpencil, on 01/07/2009, -1/+7not awful for $999 considering it's all-in-one but with only 1GB RAM, 21" and intel graphics it's always going to be cheaper (and better) to just get a tower. These all-in-ones are really only chosen for 'pose-factor' but i will admit, it does look pretty damn sexy..
- inactive, on 01/07/2009, -2/+8All in Ones are retarded. Taking the only advantage PC has over Mac and stuffing it in favor of making your own iMac, and thus charging the same amount of money and being just as un-upgradable.
- faz9, on 01/07/2009, -1/+7Seems they don't like it much now http://i.gizmodo.com/5125028/lenovo-ideacentre-600 ...
- defectDS, on 01/07/2009, -4/+9In before? This far down the page? And yet still no ranting?
Yeah, those fanboys are rampant!
@_@ - drgmdp, on 01/07/2009, -1/+6yeah, like laptops, right?
- mabsark, on 01/07/2009, -0/+5I remember getting some controller for my PC about 10 years ago for about £30. It was like a fist sized triangle that strapped to the top of your hand and let you control stuff by moving your hand. Attached to this by a cable was a pistol grip with trigger, and a D-pad and thumb buttons on the top. This type of technology is nothing new to the PC.
- inactive, on 01/07/2009, -3/+8this meme is so ***** tired and old
- dgr8one, on 01/07/2009, -2/+7i like the keyboard.
- oda1, on 01/07/2009, -10/+14Hi. I prefer design over performance, and I'll pay for it, too. Thanks.
Sincerely,
Modern day consumer. - mandarin, on 01/07/2009, -0/+4Just read the article and dont judge it by the OS.
- FlyingCaveman, on 01/07/2009, -0/+4I've been hearing a lot of that too. "bedroom size" and such. Just the industry trying to grow the market I guess. They would really like everybody to have a TV / computer in every room of their house.
- Gooserbaijan, on 01/07/2009, -0/+4@SlurmzMcenzie you got me! I do buy things because they look nice! If i'm going to buy a car, a pair of shoes, a jacket, or even a house. There's a pretty good chance that i will choose a model and color that i prefer. You yourself mentioned in your comment that you find the Lenovo looks better than your iMac. My comment was in reaction to the fact that the Lenovo basically is imitating the look of the iMac. You can't argue that.
- inactive, on 01/07/2009, -0/+4there was a tennis game for DC that uses it too! Apparently has better motion response than a WiiMote. <3 DC
- Balanced, on 01/07/2009, -0/+4Your definition of 'Normal" is kind of weird.
- Jektal, on 01/07/2009, -0/+4tv-out cable? Like SVideo? Into an LCD?
How about just a DVI cable? Like the ones all modern computers use. - franklymister, on 01/07/2009, -2/+6I don't really understand the point of "all-in-one" PCs.
If you want space saving, get a nice monitor and a laptop. If you want a non-portable machine, get a desktop that can be upgraded with drives, video cards, etc.
This seems like the worst of both worlds. Am I missing something? -
