- AlteredEG0, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23The above was my initial experience with this search. So I tried the file sharing part, which is what the story is about. And it works great! I have to Digg It!
- 4tygames, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23too bad your sick
hopefully you feel better - kolten27, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18this is great. if anyone wants more cool things like this goto www.i-hacked.com, theyve got tons of random cool things that will make a lot of the gadgets uve got, better. DUGG
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16If you don't want your content indexed, don't make it public . . . .
- Pas3n7, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14In highschool you have no rights. I'm so glad I'm out of highschool.
- AlteredEG0, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15I tried this at work. The Google proxy trick didn't work for me. Someone in IT was wise. I got "Reason:
The Websense category "URL Translation Sites" is filtered." It might work for some, but not for me.
- mercatfat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11No. In fact, using it automatically drafts a subpoena from the RIAA to your ISP.
Just a little heads up. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11for ebooks, try www.onlyebooks.org
you can search free ebooks from that search engine - JustMatt, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11You can just reply to their post instead of referring to them as "the above" now =P.
- BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14Yeah. At my school, you can even search up the term "proxy".
And Babelfish is considered a "security-proxy" tool.
...and deviantART is listed as -adult-. - tafty86, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8At my high school we would search for proxy numbers at home and them put them in at school, but hey caught on and began to port block, so we searched for odd and rare ports. Good luck getting around Websese now at most schools.
- sHARD>>, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13Humble Mr. Bugmenot2, you do realize that DeviantArt has nudes...something little boys shouldn't be looking at during school.
- Wamzlee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Great site, I could never figure out the code or even input it correctly. God bless the person who created this site, I was always wondering "why doesn't someone make a simple search box that will input the code for you?"
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7"Expect this to go down pretty soon. Cease and Desist is probably already being drafted."
So what? There's nothing special going on... Just entering some extra text after your search term. You can do this with or without this webpage, so why would Google want to shut it down? Google has more important things to worry about (yeah right lol). - maseone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I used to use this site all the time back in nam
- SirNuke, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I believe Canada charges a tax on blank CD-Rs and other stuff that can be used for copying music, and gives the money to Canada's version of the RIAA.
- mdshort, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Use putty and ssh port forwarding and you can use proxies encrypted-ly :)
- dumpty, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7But HotDaddy (http://www.hotdaddy.com/ (formely xtragoogle)) has so many extra features.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5So, I thought I'd test it out on a nice and popular artist, one that'd be sure to have plenty of results, right? So, I tried Coldplay.. and couldn't get to a single mp3 file. I gave up after the first 10 results -- all 404s.
Some kind of useful... - geminitojanus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"If you don't want your content indexed, don't make it public . . . ."
I completely agree with you, but there are many people in the world who don't (read: Perfect 10 for a perfect example).
"Sure the site g2p.org might get shut down, but all they're doing is using a feature of Google"
This is what I mean; the site will be killed, I had no mention in my post about the features the site offered being killed. Distributing the knowledge for piracy to take place is one thing, distributing a product with the intention of piracy is another. What will likely happen is Google will block all requests coming from that site (if they don't comply and take it down), and then that site will just start using proxy servers and such.. Google can't win the battle, but they can fight it, and if they don't fight it and just say "whoopse, content providers should have known better", it's very likely the *AAs of the world will sue Google for supporting piracy (which isn't something Google is likely to win; the DOJ already is stacked against Google, and even though Google's huge, the Media companies are Huge and Old and have a lot of favors they can call in on capital hill).
That's just how I predict it going down.. it might be entirely different, but I don't see them being overly aggressive, just being proactive against piracy. (especially in the midst of their Perfect 10 lawsuit). - spling, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4http://news.com.com/2100-1025_3-5121479.html
- SirSid, on 05/27/2009, -1/+4Digg has users from around the world. News doesnt only have to be about the US
- LoneStar, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6nice... great script for lazy people... love it!
- neopran, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6This thing is the best. I just used it to download a few songs that I couldn't find on my peer to peer networks.
Long live music Piracy.
PS. I live in Canada, so it's all LEGAL :) - dergachev, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Who dugg this negatively? This might be the most relevant comment on this whole page.
http://www.hotdaddy.com seems to be some sort of alternative to google.com. That is, you enter your search term in the text box, and click on one of the 10-20ish buttons that correspond to "Search this in google maps", "Search google videos", etc...
Also includes things I didn't know about, like "google windows" for windows OS specific searches, google Linux, google apple, etc. Finally, which is what makes it relevant to this post on digg are its "google mp3 search" and "google clip search", which do for mp3s and mpg's what G2p does. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3wonderful stuff. Keep up the google hacks, I would really like this to be the "next bittorrent". Only for everything not just mp3s and apps.
- ExitiumEx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6As if google hacking wasn't easy enough already, Dugg!
- adesai, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Most system administrators have already figured out this hack and either search the URL for the addresses they want to block or just block proxy sites altogether.
- juanbobo808, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Great find.
+++ (easily choice to) Digg - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4HAahah, you cant sure. that makes me laugh. =)
- CaughtThinking, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3dear riaa, you're just burning money.
- neopran, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@ mercatfat:
"In 2004 the Supreme Court ruled that Internet service providers don't have to pay royalties to artists and songwriters for illegally downloaded digital music files. Last March, the Federal Court ruled music file-sharing on the Internet was legal and that neither downloading nor sharing digital music online infringes copyright."

which actually was on the digg front page a few days ago:
http://www.digg.com/music/Canada_has_the_highest_online_music_piracy_rate_per_capita_in_the_world - Civil44, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4This is exactly what ive been looking for A++
- noahhendrix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2P2P means Peer To Peer, or Person to Person, so take out one person and make it Google. Get it now, one of the 'people' is now Google.
- skaughtm, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5what they hell does the title even mean? i'm suprised at the amount of horrible grammar on digg. can't someone edit that stuff?
- MrC539, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I can't see this being killed. Sure the site g2p.org might get shut down, but all they're doing is using a feature of Google. All this site does is make it a little bit more convenient than typing out the code in the Google search window.
Edit: avenger beat me to it, he said exactly what I just said... - tarheels2000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I have been using the firefox extension "download them all" and it does a good job of doing this.
- shaunpud, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Worked quite well however many of the results were old and gave 404's
- Johnatton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2To search for mp3 files:
intitle:index.of "mp3" +"TITLE HERE" -htm -html -php -asp "Last Modified" - abbott75, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I just love that is ts 'G2P Beta'.
- Argle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I guess it'll be easier for the RIAA to find people with mp3s on their site
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2You need to set it up for other stuff, like midi files.
- opnotic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you want to look for .zip or .rar use this search string, I've used this for a while:
-inurl:(htm|html|php) intitle:"index of" +"last modified" +"parent directory" +description +size +(zip|rar) "your_application"
Bam. - Unr3a1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2G2P is good for finding individual songs to complete albums, but I still like http://albumbase.com if I can't use bittorrent. Great site, works almost perfectly.
- chinolofus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i looked for a few ebooks (exact titles and single search words) and i didnt come up with any good results...and of course the few that looked promising were 404's.
- DarkSnake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Very nice, it's useful and easy.
- xonymous, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Here's a tip: try to pick sites on an "edu" domain. Colleges and Universities (especially public ones) get a lot more protection from the first ammendment and are less likely to have resources 404'd.
- swhite1987, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This is Google "hack" (I use that loosely, its just an advanced search) is very old. I used queries like this last summer.
- TheHegemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I checked out this site about an hour ago, about 10 minutes ago i went back and now the site is down, looks like somebody didn't want you downloading music (damn you RIAA!!!). It might just be a glitch in the site, or... maybe not?
- ojk007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1server overload?
