- P0W3RMAC, on 10/12/2007, -2/+36Crap. I was fooled by the 1-UP mushroom.
I actually believed it and was close to ordering it since it was just so cool.
I still want my 1-UP mushroom!
[PM] - cmykx, on 10/12/2007, -5/+28Um, Wikipedia is a large site and informational resource used by users all over the world. There is no reason it shouldn't be able to handle a front page link from Digg. That's just silly. It's all these nickel-and-dime blogs that are a joke.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+24Digg for the Grow You Own 1Up Mushroom!
- marmac, on 10/12/2007, -5/+21Absolutely hilarious!!! I want one of those inhalers!
- goatrandy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19It's easy to replicate what Tesla did. Thing is no-one wants to. Like 8 of his assistants died of cancer from that thing.
That much RF in a confined space cooks you from the inside. It was like working inside a giant microwave. - valkyries, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Ive always wanted a wireless Extension Cords
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12"Now if only people would follow your lead and not link to Wikipedia this way.... *sigh* the organization barely scrapes by and people link front page articles to it.."
About 18 months there was an issue with wikipedia being taken down by /. links. Wikipedia upgraded their servers and can now take a slashdotting with the best of them. Slashdot has more clickthroughs than digg.
The wikipedia guys can handle your trickle of traffic. - tomvendetta, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11hahaha. werent we all trying to figure that out at one point or another?
- Predicament, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10everything2 - started by slashdot people. always has been accessible via slashdot. can definitely handle the load.
- tarouszars, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Anyone who's eaten a frozen burrito knows that microwaves cook from the outside in...
- LawnGnome, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7And where it usually reads "Stuff For Smart Masses" under the logo, the M is crossed out.
- antgoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Does anyone else remember the Broadcast Energy Transmitter (B.E.T.) from GI Joe the movie?
It's here in the Wireless Extension Cords. LOL They're based on the same technology! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9We can replicate it any time we want... and no one died from it (plus microwaves cook from the outside in not vice versa as seen on mythbusters).
All you need is a tuned Tesla Coil (which means no cool arcing) and a receiver antenna. The only problem is that you need lots of energy and you can't have anything else act as an antenna or you will get shocked. - smithco, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Yeah, I tried to add that 1-up mushroom to my ThinkGeek wishlist. Those would be pretty cool to have.
- thegreatsam, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I got the email from Thinkgeek this morning, and was almost fooled by the mushroom. Only I actually clicked on the "order" button, and THEN found out out it was a joke.
I still want one! - 1337geek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5i love the "Stuff for Smart Asses" tag at the top.
- silentvirus, on 10/25/2008, -2/+6I wish the person that posted this just put it was an April Fools prank in the comments, I would've loved to have been fooled.
- Flashman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5That mushroom would be cool.
- Argon52, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Hey now there exists fat and built geeks....don't knock the the 3XL. heh.

- tryferos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Comedian Steven Wright would be proud that someone finally invented his idea...
- Mesach, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8People have been trying to figure it out for ages, the only one who seems to have been able to do it was Nicola Tesla, but no one has been able to replicate it.
- iKato, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The Sphorb is brilliant. The loading screen nearly had me fooled.
- nichos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4One they did a few years ago, I think would actually be cool is the iGrill:

I could make some bacon on an airplane! - tomvendetta, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Good find. Its only crossed out on the products that are fake. Any real item or any real category has Stuff for the masses.
- RadicalBender, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Well, they got me. I received their e-mail this morning and since it was the first thing I checked, I was still half asleep. Totally forgot April Fool's Day was tomorrow. Bravo, ThinkGeek. Haven't been fooled by an April Fool's joke since I was in elementary school.
- figmund, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I loved the PS3 ad and the wireless power transmitter.
- mccarron, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Yeah I am too... darnit they got me!
- greenbox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2me too, but it wouldn't be impossible to make one though. i mean you just have to grow a mushroom of that type of shape, then grab some sharpies, and there you go, a one up mushroom!
- wintermute1974, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Sign me up. I'll take a 1-UP mushroom too, please.
- madholepunch, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3if someone made one that looked 75% as good, i would 10 of them
- dongiaconia, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Yea, I was seriously trying to figure that one out as a kid.
- shreky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.westernstudios.net
- jpatch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Dude, after I saw those Japanese bean plants that grow text into them (such as "I love you"), I thought the 1UP Mushroom was a serious product! Give it a few months, and I think some geeky no-life biologist will come up with such a thing...
And then we'll discover that when oversized pipes are painted green, they lead to an alternate dimension... that'll be the day... - energyblue, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"PS3 Now Shipping" lol
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I (heart) ThinkGeek~
- shiftless, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This is the best one yet. I love it!
- cheeze_ballz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3yeah -- they got me too! i was even trying to rationalize the usb-powered tanning lights too -- i kept thinking "that's gotta pull alot more power than usb can push" -- i thought the 1-up mushroom looked really cool tho -- even if it's not available, i'd still like the pipe pot though -- that thing's pretty awesome. oh well -- digg to thinkgeek for fooling me a day early.
- mmm_linux, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2tomorrow on apples press conf. they will release that.

AboveUltimate.com - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Now why can't the iZilla be a reality? Let's go for it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"I have 3 of my colleques trying to figure out how the cordless extension cord might work."
Microwaves. They say in the item description.
That's actually one plan for solar energy. Have giant solar sattelites and beam the energy down using microwaves. Just like in SimCity. - binky79, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2That reminds me. Mental Note: Stay off the internet tommorrow.
- ster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I wonder if you actually try to buy them.
*runs off to get credit card* - avatarpalin, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5@ Shreky
Hmm how about 'Microsoft Announces that the next version of Windows will be secure and stable?? - madeingermany, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I was ready to order the tanner - it's a much needed product for all the untanned programmers out there ;)
See http://bestbabybuy.co.uk/article/040801.php - nailPuppy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I think the t-shirt is real. I got the original order confirmation email, and now have gotten a tracking number email which says that the item I ordered and the tshirt are both on their way.
Yay for free shirts. - thebman990, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1there used to be this funny metal telephone pole-looking thingy on one of the highways I traveled on often. I seriously thought it was a wireless power transmitter of some kind, but a few years ago they put up one of those interstate warning signs for traffic and fog and stuff.
- sgtkillmore, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1man... a caffeine inhaler that would be awesome
it would be funny to look back like 10 or 20 years from now and actually have a 2 terabyte ipod type thing - jmazzi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It would take 72 puffs to kill a 180lbs man. Math:
361 sodas / 5(sodas per puff, haha) = 72
