- shit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+240 DVDs for a box set of 7 seasons? That's not "insane". The complete X-Files set is on 69 DVDs.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Buffy turned retarded after a while. It was like hell and sex combined.
- FlyingAvatar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, I think ST:TNG was 60 DVDs.
- generalleoff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@kolanos
Yer just factoring in the discs themselves though. You can't forget the content of the discs. The actors still get a cut, the producers get a cut, the studio gets a cut, the composers get a cut. People need to be payed, stuff needs to be licensed, etc...
I'm sure they are making a nice profit but it's not 20x like you say. - thugramsey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Damn if i didnt already own all the dvds. this just makes me want to waist more money and buy this too
- nymphetamine, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4wow, 40 dvds of total *****.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0at least shes hott :/

Amazon.com prices. You can get them cheaper.
I'm not a Buffy fan but it seems like it's fans are getting a pretty good deal based on the prices of other big name science fiction shows :) - ben.0081, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Woah
- TeChGuRL19, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1They are doing the same with Sex and the City....
20 Disc Set all Seasons.
I imagine we'll see alot of these soon.

Depends how much "fluff" they put on the discs
- M4tt3r, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2"wow, 40 dvds of total *****."
LMFAO, my thoughts exactly.
I wonder how many the Simpsons will be when it's done, 100+. - BxBoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dark Angel was better!
- teamparadox, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Ok since I've read 20 flaming comments let me hop in on this...
Why flame? Have you ever really watched the show with an open mind? Its got great story archs with well acted charecters, its funny as hell and its full of great action, how could you not like it? Its a show that has something for everyone, men and women alike, if your just gonna flame it why bother commenting? All that will get you is negative points on your user score FYI. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"different strokes for different folks" is what makes living in America so great. We're entitled to watch and like whatever we want"
Yes and other people in other countires can only watch what they are told. :O - danmanx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow. 40 DVDs. Wow. I have a ton of Dark Shadows DVDs totalling quite a number of DVDs.
Digg...please stop this idiot from ever posting again.
"WOW! LOOK AT HOW MUCH GAS COSTS!"
"WOW! INNSEANE!!! MY MOM BAKED CHOCO CHIPP COOOKIES!"
"WOW! HOLY SUGAR BATMAN! YOU CAN NOW PURCHASE SPAM!" - macgabriel87, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i bet the simpsons will land a whopping 200 dvd set, now i want that, simpsons rule!!!
- teamparadox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0sweet
- a_greer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0^but by then hopefully a next gen DVD format with all of the HD glory
- Rhipf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Actually the best part of this is the difference in US and Canadian pricing. With an exchange rate of ~0.82 Canadians could save a bucket of money by ordering it at amazon.com and paying for the shipping and possible duty.
- a_greer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I hope they do this with The Sopranos when that show wraps next year.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Patrick Norton will be first in line.
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0well, if I liked the series, i probably would have been more excited. On the other hand, for a little over $100 you can get 40 discs? that's a deal!
- h4lofourt33n, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Only fanatics should by this =)
- shounenalice, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I remember the Macross limited edition had about this many discs in a lot cooler packaging, plus it was all remastered too.
- NinjaNoodles, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Easy there flamers, sheesh, a little more respect for Buffy fans please. Yes you may think it sucks and whatnot but remember, "different strokes for different folks" is what makes living in America so great. We're entitled to watch and like whatever we want. For me, this is more than a show, it's a venue, an escape into a fantasy world away from the mundane crap of everyday life here on Earth and all the ***** that make my day stressfull. ^-^ I'm actually surprised you can pre-order it from Amazon.com for $139.99 that's like, $3.50 per DVD, I'll buy it.
- Otto, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Ugh. Worst show ever. Of course, that does explain the pricing on the set, which is way low by comparison to other series.
- Abraxis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Loved the show. Not enough to shell out $200 for it when it's on 3 times a day any given day though.
I did buy Firefly as soon as it came out on DVD though. Only show I've ever bought. Joss is the man. - nuclearpenguins, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Even though I detested the show, I think I may get this for my parents. They loved it.
- Gu_Man, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0What the hell?
- comat0se, on 10/12/2007, -1/+040 DVD's is not that huge... try this one which has 282 DVD's in the set.

I want to say that amazon had an even larger collection but I can't find anything about it now... - TWiThead, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0From a packaging standpoint, the coolest DVD set that I've seen is the European "Borg Mega Cube." It's the aforementioned seven-season, 48-disc "Star Trek: The Next Generation" set, with a bonus wall clock and collectors' card, all tucked neatly into a flip-open box resembling a Borg cube:

Unfortunately, Paramount decided not to release this configuration in North America. - zapada, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0http://robotolabs.com/
Each season of simpsons is only about 2gigs. - arcman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0$140 is a damn good price for that much DVD content.
Now if only I gave a crap about Buffy. - SatNav, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"[rl] fricken rocks, have u seen the 35gb full simpsons on the pirate bay?"
hehe, yup. I'm currently working my way backwards thru every ep EVAR. :D - bluepeej, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0The Wrestlemania 1-21 box set will also surpass this.
- Dracos, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0At $5 per disc, everyone should be outraged at paying $17 to $22 for a single DVD. The difference here is that this is essentially a rerelease, so the licencing and royalty costs are probably less than the single season sets. Plus, I think Joss actually owns all the episodes, not Fox.
Shows like Buffy are profitable on first airing (even with production costs up to $3M per episode), so reruns, DVD sales, and syndication are just gravy for everyone. - animefx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I wish I would have known this BEFORE I bought ALL SEVEN seasons during the spring/summer this year. Awesome deal, for one of the best TV sereies of all time.
My favorite character is Faith (Eliza Dushku), she is a hotie, and kicks ass! - Jules, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0[rl] fricken rocks, have u seen the 35gb full simpsons on the pirate bay?
- LNahid2000, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0All 7 seasons are on DVD seperately already. I guess they just are putting the whole thing together now to make more money.
- Kindred420, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0i got hooked on Angel, but never watched buffy, ill buy this just to have something to watch when im bored.
- jumjum, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"an entire series" I should have said.
- Guano, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0If only Firefly made it to that many episodes.
- kolanos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0IF you consider that each DVD costs about $0.15 to produce (that includes the DVD itself - $.05, and the burning process and labeling - $0.10). That's $6 for a 40 DVD set. Add the cases and container, probably about $4 total and we're talking about a $10 product being sold at 20x markup.
Of course the art for each disk and the boxset costs money, but you average that out and it costs peanuts per DVD set. - Squill, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1god I hate that show
- peerk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Buffy was one of the finest shows ever to grace television.
I really wish Angel kept on going for a few more seasons. It had a lot of life left in it. - dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Word, Guano. Word.
- jumjum, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0You may want to buy things like this from a more reputable source, I tried to buy a season of an unnamed sitcom from (I believe) this place, they charged me and I received zip.
- seand, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1the insane part is that a company is willing to waste that many discs on such rubbish. or maybe that there will be people who buy this, and not get off their couch until the last disc has been watched.
- acejones, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1200 bucks for crap? i'll give you crap for free.
