- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23Wow, people who pay for digital cable watch the most TV? GET OUT!
- snarkymikey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20Word.
It's all about torrents and Neflix. - Ruckgesicht, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17I watch network TV programming, but not via TV at all. As someone else said, its almost always via torrent. I haven't turned on the TV in my room in two years. I put things on top of it, thats the most use I have for it.
- cdlavalle, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19Because they can't afford both high speed internet and cable. If you had to choose what would you do?
- KibibyteBrain, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Uh, you can hook your computer up to it?
- ScottMaximus1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9All of the above sir.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9History Channel anyone?
- SuckMyDigg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Seriously, if all you have to talk about at the water cooler is what was on the latest ER or Lost or whatever the hell the hot new show of the season is, then I for one would rather hide in my cubicle and keep an eye on the news. Or hell, get more work done.
- jfossboss, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I just don't believe this article. It was conducted by CBS. It would be in their best interest to have you believe watching television makes you more connected.
- drjekelmrhyde, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Do the Sci-Fi channel, Adultswim, all Discoverys, Nat-geo, and FX count
- yocheo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Wow, how right they are...When I became more connected I watched digital cable less often and in its place discovered that digg + the refresh button = better content then the ***** networks the cable companies try to force down my throat. Of course digg will never be able to replace the few hours of joy shows like heroes and lost provide. Also amongst the many crap channels in the digital cable line up there are the few networks worth watching like discovery HD, and the science channel (when they aren't showing re-runs of course)
- wavelength1978, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I only watch network television because my wife gets addicted to a show. :/
- shanak, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6It's not that people are watching it BECAUSE it's network TV. They're watching network tv because that's where the good shows are right now. If TBS produced fantastic shows like the Office, Lost, Heros, etc, people would watch it.
- goostoff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4A network television station says that the most connected people watch network television.
A hypothetical synonym:
"MIT researchers discover that best tech graduates come from MIT." - redthumb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Football, never. Also no water cooler, I'm a one-man office.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I believe it. If you have all that stuff, you're likely to have an HDTV. And there are only about 15 HDTV channels, 2 of which are sports and 4 of which show fish and prarie dogs 24/7. That leaves about 9 real HDTV channels, 5 of which are the major networks.
That's the reason I watch a bunch of network TV. - Owange, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6@Kranklin
Daily Star Trek marathons on Spike = bliss. - Cronus6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well when you stop to consider that SciFi is owned by NBC, Discovery (and TLC) is owned by COX Communication (which is pretty huge) and FX is FOX...
Yeah I'd say they count as "network" viewing.
(And if I recall correctly CBS owns Showtime, ABC owns ESPN(s), and Viacom owns a BUNCH as well. Oh and Time Warner owns ALMOST everything else including Cartoon Network.)
You might think you are avoiding Network programming by watching the niche cable networks but you aren't, they are all owned by 8 or 9 major media corps. - jbiz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3if only beauty and the geek was in HD
- SuckMyDigg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3You can watch Heroes online on NBC's website for free, at least the first full season... and again as stated in many of the previous comments, torrents are your friends.
- Kranklin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Yes, the only thing thats actually worth watching other than Discovery.. But Spike is a good one and sometimes TBS....
Anyway, whats all this tip nuck? or 24 or lost or whatever all about????? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Which report? No references given. TV still is easier to use, but if you're a college student or just don't have the money you can use those online sites.

◉ http:/beelinetv.com - shampoovta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2 I have never seen any of the Network shows Lost, Hero's or whatever they are. I gave up on the K-12 channels after they screwed up Dark Angel and the second season of Small Vill. Now I use my DVD burner to get all the old movies I can off TCM. Gold Diggers of 1933 was on last week, that was so funny. Lately I'm on a Pirate kick like Captain Kidd with Charles Laughton or Black beard the pirate with Robert Newton. I had to send away for Against All Flags with Errol Flynn and Maureen O'Hara and they use to show that all the time on TV?
I do digg Comedy Central and the Cartoon Network,s Adult Swim but lower cable is just over for me and my family. However Scrubs has shown me that if I had sifted threw all the crap I could have seen something good but I'm 41 and life is to short for all that.
Too bad too. - fauxXenophanes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Findings from who ??
- Phipman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Absolutely right. I had regular "air" television (local channels) for 10 yrs. Then a month ago we got cable, and a month ago i discovered digg.... and now i only use my tv as a second monitor. And for heroes.
mmm.... heroes.... - MattH, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1On Most Cable packages in the US its cheaper to Have TV and Internet than just Internet .
- mbabauer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I for one dont watch much TV, and I have both FIOS for internet and digital cable for TV. My digital cable is installed for my two 3yr olds (and my 4 nephews, when they come over...which is often), who pretty much pwn my DVR with their kiddie shows. When I do watch TV, its usually in the form of movies, and the shows I do enjoy, like Firefly, I just buy them on DVD when they come out.
- achoi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Does 'traditional' network TV include those channels in HD? I suspect the 'most connected' americans are up to date with the latest tech gadgets, ranging from bluray players (aka ps3) to (suprise!) 1080p televisions.
And in my cable provider, for example, does not have many channels in HD, other than channels like, CBS, NBC, ABC. Oh and ESPN. - Woknblues, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this Amercian watches exactly zero hours of TV. online or otherwise.
@happyscrappy--- HDTV is enough to get you to watch TV? thats scary. Thats like putting a pretty ribbon around a piece of dog ***** and eating it. - kodek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the xbox can't play HD content. The best it can play is HR-HDTV. Still a great solution, though.
- TheOther1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2And INHD Awesome HD programming (most of the time).
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Network News and Televisoin is garbage.
Garbage in
Garbage out - thatrez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Somehow I don't see John Gotti watching too much network TV
- origclubsoda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1DUH Network TV has adopted HD already. If USA,, TNT, FX, and others were HD, I'd watch them too.
- Soldan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1please for the first 6 years I have cable internet I did not even own a tv....I only got one after getting married..... I can tolerate Spike TV and Food Network and that is pretty much it
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4i use http://www.chooseandwatch.com/ - pretty good, with some useful channels
- tinygibbles, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Because they're a bunch of DINKs. Who has time for that *****?
- windohs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0true

really, what else is there? - jasonscuba, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Why pay for cable when you can watch TV online for free. I like http://www.MyEasyTV.com for watching TV online for free. It's the simplest site to use.
- macgarp, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1the major networks still produce the best TV, hands down. After all, they've had 50+ years to practice...
- ksponge, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I download whatever I feel like taking in also. However, I dl mostly xvid avi's. Smaller file sizes etc, and stream them using SMB to my xbox running xbmc. I don't even need to unrar them.

What about 24? Football? The Office?
Do you not like talking around the water cooler the next day like normal humans or do you hide in your cubicles so you didn't hear what happened until your torrents download?

What is Digg?
