- mhuggins, on 10/11/2007, -4/+106The Engadget blog should start giving away free gift certificates for all their Engadget retail stores. Win/win!
- ScrabbyDoo, on 10/11/2007, -2/+37Big deal. Engadget profits off other people's content, so having someone else profit off their crappy name is no worse, if there's any profit to it in the first place. I mean, look how well the first engadget shop did, it failed.
- steven401, on 10/11/2007, -3/+19Who's digging him down? That's a good idea.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+17Oh please, engadget.com is one of the few grand tech blogs that keep it interesting and fresh, which is why they consistently win top blog every year.
Who else? Gizmodo - the guy who cause the uproar over the Cisco iPhone? pffttt. I split my time between Digg, Engadet and the occasional Consumerist.com - fkr3, on 10/11/2007, -2/+16The engadget blog is 90% regurgitations of other people's work.
Not particularly funny, but definitely quite ironic, when someone takes what you've worked so hard on and spins it into an income, hey engadget? - lemur, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12Considering that the two don't even compete in the same market, I don't even see why it matters (no harm, no foul). Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery! If Engadget thinks it has things bad, they should check this out: http://cm.bell-labs.com/cm/cs/who/dmr/otherunix.html
- Akaru, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10uh, excuse me, but I'm living in Malaysia and I do understand the concept of intellectual copyright. Just because some people don't respect them does not mean that everybody living in Asia disregards copyright like those store owners. Be careful when you stereotype
- fkr3, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Umm, since when did anyone on digg suddenly start to give a ***** about copyright?
- profingersk8er, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4actually thats a really good idea!!
- meatwadlurker, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Why do they even care? a REAL life walk in store named engadget around the friggin continent.
You guys don't even have anything to do with each other. I am now boycotting the "REAL" engadget because they are such rediculous pansy asses. - qwertydvorak, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3wouldn't matter anyway, unless engadget trademarked the name internationally instead of just in the us, they could set them up in britain even and there wouldn't be a thing they could do about it.
- MasterThief117, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Or we can make our own, they [the store] would probably never know.
- fkr3, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Hmm, I guess you'd call it whatever it is when a cat or dog throws up, eats it and then throws up again? Double-puke? Re-puke?
- yoshitomi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1uncrate.com is basically a regurgitation of engadget. What do you call regurgitation of regurgitation?
- neoknight, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Besides they're in Malaysia. I don't think engadget has a worldwide copyright on that name. As you said they profit on other people's content, so why are they so miffed when someone uses their name - in another country!?
- paulmike3, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1We'll send you over to pick up our swag. Thanks!
- Habemus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Engadget (the web site) has trademarked the name only for delivering content on a network. Anyone else can go ahead and trademark the name for retail sales if they want. And that's in the US. So even in the US someone could open an "Engadget" store and not infringe on the web page trademark. Has Engadget even trademarked the name for the web page in Malaysia?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1"but if anybody's headed to Malaysia and wants to go give these guys a stern talking to on our behalf, hit us up!"
I can see the digg storys now of people wakeing up in an alley missing a kidney. - Trax91, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I'm a Malaysian and I live next door to "the Pyramid" aka Sunway Pyramid and it's actually not a bad mall with its Egyptian motive. I hope Westerners don't look bad at us but our country really is a piracy central country(probably next to China). We are one of the top countries that supply your pirated DVDs (games and movies).
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1"Surely you would copy the name of a credible technology website."
Cool, I'll open up a THG store then eh? :) - darlyn, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Legal suit, anyone? Or is that restricted across borders?
- HairyPoter, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Of course all scam is sad but the Engadget guys have to realize that Kuala Lumpur is in another country, not in the US. So, the american laws value there is zero and the guys there don't need any permission to open a shop named Engadget. Suppose that Engadget is a word in that country that means "big dick" or something. Have them the right to register that word? Engadget has to register its brand in every country and have lawyers there if they want their brand respected. Unfortunately, that's how the law works (sometimes).
- chukd, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1its called sarcasm you people that dugg me down
- hofuken, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Hey, that's in my city (and country) !! We even have a pub/bar/bistro called.. FRIENDSTER (with the same fonts to go as well). Cheers!
- Habemus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1What would they sue for? Engadget doesn't even have a trademark on the name "Engadget" as used in retail sales. They only trademarked it for information delivery on a computer network. Go to the USPTO site and look it up.

That is the dumbest comment I've read all day.
- squirrelnut1416, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0It would be kewl to have an open source fire extinguisher and back massager
- damnyooneek, on 10/11/2007, -4/+3if i made a name for a website i wouldnt wont anyone using the name i built. i dont care if my website is about shoes and theyre selling fish sticks.
- 40bslove, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1hope the site is not based in Michigan
- chrishasen, on 10/11/2007, -2/+0Still expecting for it
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+2So sue them. Crybabies. Sad you didn't think of it first? Boo ***** hoo.
- hbeierg, on 10/11/2007, -6/+2don't worry Derick Zoolander has been brain washed to kill the Malaysia store owner
- Spellczech, on 10/11/2007, -13/+9Surely you would copy the name of a credible technology website.
- chukd, on 10/11/2007, -5/+1Come on that sign isn't even close they used green and orange for their design not blue. lol
- drakethegreat, on 10/11/2007, -14/+9good luck getting it shutdown. This is Asia we are talking about. They don't understand the concept of intellectual copyright. Although it is interesting how digg users expect it to go both ways. Double standard in that they want their creations protected but don't care about others "usually."
- rBennett, on 10/11/2007, -13/+3What the hell.
Seriously?
I'm still waiting for the Fark.com store, personally. - maddendude, on 10/11/2007, -20/+3lol, just lol.

What is Digg?
