- slowspin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1December: Digg goes beta.
January - June: Stories get submitted, users decide if they like them, if so they make the front page. (Funny, stupid, whatever, even though digg bills itself as technology site)
July - August: People who have been around since the beginning start complaining about the site they helped create.
Do you know who the number one user is on digg? Some dude named Jem. Posted this one about 2 days ago:

Yeah, very technology related. But you know what? If people liked it, it would have gone to the front page.
That's why people use digg - they decide if they LIKE something, who cares if it's tech news? We all get a little bored at work, me personally I get bored here all the time, I am a sysadmin for a fairly large company and I ENJOY a distraction now and then.
Since the very beginning of digg, there have been silly posts - just like this one. If you don't like it, don't digg it, but don't rip on everyone who did. See, that's what digg is - a site in control of the users.
If everyone else thought it was cool, great. If not, that's fine.
Let this site be what it is - a great way for us all to have control. - jwk3114, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wish everyone would quit bitching about non-tech stuff. Some people enjoy humor every once and awhile and have tech on the brain 24/7.
- mdramige, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Devastatin' Dave, The Turntable Slave...
So glad I'm not that guy - Helfax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The solution to non-tech stories from getting onto the front page is to STOP DIGGING THEM. Simple.
- sammi77, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0mike terry is my dad
- DeVS, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Didnt like Martin Sargent do this on "Unscrewed"?

- Nothlit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What's worse is that it gets dugg up to the homepage...
- xN8x, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think the Queen one is sweet. I think that with Digg's new found popularity it has gotten more careless users. I didn't digg this by the way. I just liked the Queen cover.
- eaasness, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You want a tech angle? These covers show that we have come a long way in the evolution of design. If you want to see some purposely bad cover check out http://www.gimmegimmes.com/
- kingyubba, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0truly horrible.
- proxima, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"julie's 16th birthday"
Haha!! - instereo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0GET OVER IT. Horrific covers, by the way.
- nicklinus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0OMG!
- digit9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you notice that on the left hand side of Digg there are catagories for Digg stories you can click on if you want Tech/Linux/Gaming etc. This Digg story is under Links, not technology.
- WonkoTheSane, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"I think the Queen one is sweet. I think that with Digg's new found popularity it has gotten more careless users. I didn't digg this by the way. I just liked the Queen cover."
I agree with everything u said.
Stop digging crap!!! - digitalunit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I remember when this site used to be about tech news :( Those days are over. Now anything that can possibly be scrapped up on the internet is reported immediately. And chances are it's still a dupe.
- furiouszebra, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0What's funny is what happened to this site is exactly like the history of the Screen Savers. It STARTED as a tech site, then it became a site where anything, regardless of how horribly stupid it is, makes it to the homepage.

What is Digg?
