- asaccin, on 02/20/2009, -3/+11Digsby in at #3 and I can believe it. It's a great app.
- Bobbylabontefan, on 02/20/2009, -7/+14No Twitterific...?
- TheSpook, on 02/20/2009, -1/+5Does anyone else dislike those "site previews" that pop up on some sites when you hover over a hyperlink? Granted, this site uses an image to hover over, but still...
- captainDyl, on 02/20/2009, -1/+5Tweet Tweet
- thescimitar, on 02/20/2009, -7/+11Uh, people already use twitter. I use it all the time, and rarely to talk about myself. It's a great little tool for acquiring leads on things that you don't have time to research from the ground up, particularly at work or on the road.
Like anything, it's a tool that is highly dependent upon how you use it and with whom. Don't disregard it just because you don't understand it. - inactive, on 02/25/2009, -2/+5tried it, and it sucks
- inactive, on 02/25/2009, -0/+2Yes but what can you do when the site belongs to someone who you think is seriously intelligent and a friend of yours? you have to understand that in life, not everyone is expert at everything. Nobody can conquer everything. It never happened and never will!
I know of a corporate pilot who can land a twin jet aircraft in CATIII conditions but still don't know what a computer operating system is. Trust me, it's true.
The best you can do is politely tell him/her what you dislike about it and then make a constructive suggestion. But once again if the person you are talking to is a overly sensitive retard like the bitch I have talked about in the comment below, then bad luck - inactive, on 02/20/2009, -1/+3FireFox yes, Twitter no.
- inactive, on 02/25/2009, -1/+2alright my analogy is sick. Sorry :(
- inactive, on 02/25/2009, -3/+4like pezholio said, if you are into scat fetish (and apparently you are), other people near your place and scattered all around the globe will see it in either 'public timeline', also known as Everyone, or the 'Search' page located on the bottom of the twitter web interface, when they search for the keyword 'poop', 'poop fetish', 'poop buddies' or anything that has the word 'poop' in it.
So, now Mr X the poop lover spots your post (known as Tweet) and clicks on your name JargonScott which brings him to your profile, where he can get more information about you and your website, contact information etc, and most importantly subscribe to you so that next time you make another comment about poop or whatever, he will see it instead of having to search for the word 'poop' again.
From here the plot thickens some more, as from now on, whenever you talk to your other poop buddies you have already added to your list, Mr X gets to read that post again, and can click on your poop buddies names so that he can learn more about them as well. Mr X's poop fetish and network keeps getting better and better within a very few moments.
I never for the love of god imagined i would be able to communicate one-on-one with trainee pilots and airline captains scattered all over the world without having to leave my home. Twitter offers a clean environment where you have total control over the kind of information you receive. Unlike Digg, there is no gamer over there. You can choose what content you want, make a customized network and then retrieve virtually an infinite amount of knowledge from there.
Another interesting feature is that you can read, send and receive Tweets (posts) on your mobile. Imagine that - JargonScott, on 02/20/2009, -5/+6I don't get this whole twitter thing, and looking through their own help system doesn't really help either. The only thing I can see a reason for it is to have a place for people to blurt out things, like "Wow I just took a big poop, and I feel better!" and then anyone that subscribes to them sees this?
Is that it? Can you have like normal IM conversations back and forth with it or something? - findhostcoupons, on 03/22/2009, -0/+1Thanks for sharing! Hope these applications will help people to succeed in twitter!
- fascfoo, on 02/20/2009, -3/+4digsby has consolidated like 8 other things i used to have open on my computer.
- inactive, on 02/25/2009, -3/+4I like Twitter, but sometimes I hate some bitches who do the following to piss me off: 1) we have some intial conversation about anything, for say computers and shoes 2) conversation is finished. but bitch I didn't wanna add you to my list. kthxbye 3) i come back and check emails and find out she added me (followed me, or put me on follow, same thing) 4) now i'm trying to figure out whether I should follow her back or not.
I should follow her back as a courtesy. (that's a noob thing to do. don't be naive like me, ever!) so i go ahead and follow her back
Three ***** hours later, i see that my follower count has gone back from 48 to 47. ok who the ***** unfollowed me?
Turns out it's that girl.
Why did she unfollow? cause I talked to another girl about sex and she took offense.
Lessons learned. From this time I will think 45 times before putting someone on follow - pezholio, on 02/20/2009, -3/+4Yes basically. The @ key is your friend.
The only way to 'get' Twitter is to use it and build up a network, the help system isn't really helpful... - airabongco, on 09/13/2009, -0/+1Most popular, however, may not be the best apps out there.
- Thomasaka, on 02/20/2009, -6/+6Stop clicking on Twitter stories if you're not interested in them.
- jonesyno, on 02/20/2009, -6/+6I've heard both sides of the argument, so I respect the "For Twitter" crowd. . .but how many different auxiliary apps could a single-purpose product possibly need? (cough.. . .ego strokers)
- inactive, on 02/20/2009, -3/+3Where is *****? Auto-submits "Poop coming out now" on periodic basis
- tooker, on 02/20/2009, -4/+3your comment is just as useless as the douchebags you speak off.
- bcswartz, on 02/20/2009, -3/+2The direct message option ("d" username message) lets you send a message to a single person that only that person can see, just like a typical IM. 'Course, you're still limited in the number of characters you can send.
- techdever, on 02/20/2009, -8/+7digg needs a 'twitter' article filter; getting sick of all this twitter crap
- hilomike, on 02/20/2009, -3/+2TweetDeck looks pretty cool. Installing...
- wintersland, on 02/20/2009, -3/+2I'm really enjoying Twhirl. Used tweekdeck for a while but it was just not for me :3
- gfxgeek, on 02/20/2009, -3/+1This aricle was updated because they used Twhirl.com instead of the Twhirl.org to find out the stats. So now Twhirl is #3 and the article was updated to the top 21 Twitter Apps.
- amitait, on 02/20/2009, -3/+1#0. Revo Uninstaller
- franksands, on 02/20/2009, -4/+2No love for TwitterFox? Best client in my opinion. Actually, I think it's the only one that saves the tweets you already viewed.
- JasonCox, on 02/20/2009, -7/+5How is Twitterific not in the top ten?
- paradizzle, on 02/20/2009, -3/+1This article was proved wrong numerous ways and a follow up was written. Especially because of the uproar that Twhirl was not on there. Check out http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/02/19/the-top-21-tw ... for what seems to be a better analysis of the top twitter clients.
- inactive, on 02/20/2009, -5/+3I dugg you down to digg you up twice
- bashbosh, on 02/21/2009, -3/+1Very nice application collection!
Thank you for sharing this!
Twitter rules :) - zdiddy85, on 02/21/2009, -5/+3It's sad that there are at least 20 apps for the stupidest service on the 'net.
- inactive, on 02/20/2009, -13/+11I like Twitter-OFF, it works really well. Also Delete-Profile 1.1 is worth a look.
- phreak79, on 02/20/2009, -4/+2One of the saving graces of Twitter is the number of third party apps that have been developed for it. On its own I don't rate Twitter but with some of these apps it becomes a useful tool.
- inactive, on 02/25/2009, -5/+2Great. Move along
- tooker, on 02/20/2009, -6/+3That's why Digg allows you the option to adjust your profile to omit stories about Twitter.
- inactive, on 02/25/2009, -4/+1Hmm let's see how many douchbags I'm following: 8 private pilots, 2 commercial flight instructors, 1 national and award winning commercial flight instructor of the year, 2 captains of two US based airlines, one 757 first officer of another airlines, one single mom, four IT professionals and enthusiasts, and one news-based person.
and how many douchbags are following me: a total of 47 people ranging from spammers, pilots, self-proclaimed social media experts, aviation enthusiasts, product marketers etc - Elranzer, on 02/20/2009, -9/+6#2. Digg
Seriously, Digg has become a SPAM ground for Twitter lately.
No matter how much Twitter spam is made front page on Digg, no one's going to use this ***** and useless service. - BigglesPiP, on 02/20/2009, -7/+3Twitter tools? (Wordpress addon)
- sebastienk, on 02/20/2009, -5/+1Twitterific and Tweety are overlooked!

TWITTER! - inactive, on 02/20/2009, -7/+2Nice article. Those twitter apps work really great!
- somedudemanguy, on 02/20/2009, -17/+11Twitter is stupid.
- inactive, on 02/20/2009, -19/+13So tired of hearing about twitter. Only douchebags who follow other douchebags to find out how big the other douchebag's bag of douche is use twitter.
- 1uk34dd0, on 02/20/2009, -8/+1Good list - twirl is for FTW for me for multiple accounts, twitter, friendfeed, indenti.ca, laconi.ca and seemsic all in one. I also use Digsby but prefer that for AIM, MSN/Live, Google Talk, Yahoo, ICQ etc
Damn - I use a lot of social networks! - astromj, on 02/20/2009, -13/+1@elister - haha... funny dude you are :)

What is Digg?
