- theone3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Heh. The Orbitouch needs a model with ... well, it's too easy, I'll leave it up to your imaginations.
- inotocracy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Of course it feels strange to use, about as strange as playing "imaginary computer" with a desk.
- zeeone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8A flash demo of the virtual laser kbd: http://www.pocketpccanada.com/images/upload/vkbdemo.swf
- zllwy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5what about the optimus keyboard, each key is an OLED display.

and the DAS keyboard with only blank keys

- jaspinDroid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Learn to use the dvorak keyboard layout and you will never regret it.

http://www.mwbrooks.com/dvorak/ - darthnader, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The best is still an IBM model "m". The type that clicks.
- theone3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Or you can go to pretty much any store that sells keyboards and pick one up for peanuts.
- tvidas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2it's also a really handy secondary keyboard, roll it up and leave it in the car / your bag / whatever.
sometimes you actually have to use the keyboard port on the front of a server - lerch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I love the flexable keyboard. If anyone was wondering, you can get it at www.thinkgeek.com :)
- tzahi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Kinesis keyboards are the best. Especially evolution, but their sooooooo expensive. Like buying 3 computers.
http://www.kinesis-ergo.com/ - magneticpigeon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I totally want the wrist keyboard...too bad its not bluetooth....it would be cool to see them combine the flexable keyboard with the wrist one w/bluetooth. I always wanted an excuse to type with one hand (like in Splinter Cell!)....
- ggko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Maybe that guy with the Blair Witch mod can use it for his next project.
http://digg.com/mods/Man_uses_wife_s_body_to_make_PC_case_mod - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2and how many of those are used in everyday life?
- eHardOn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2..a fine idea. I type with my fists.
- MikeSD34, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I'd get the frogpad in an instant if it weren't so expensive.
Would someone mind explaining how something half the size of a regular keyboard should cost so much?
I KNOW it doesn't cost even close to that to manufacture.

Not sure if you are kidding or not but the Dvorak keyboard was developed in the 20s/30s by a Dr. Dvorak. Not John C. Dvorak the columnist.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVORAK - oldmanpants, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I know someone that has the laser keyboard... its incredible... it even 'clicks' as you type so you know when you've 'hit' a key.
- Dragular, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1if anyone knows where i could get a wireless keyboard with a built in trackball, i would appreciate a link... i don't have a desk and usually just crash on the couch with my wireless keyboard. i've got a wireless mouse as well but jeeze... you think it's rough moving your arm two inches every time you want to move the mouse, try having to FIND your mouse every time you want to use it lol.
- patrickweber, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My art teacher has one of these. I must say, this is probably the single most uncomfortable keyboards I've ever used. That's just my opinion though.
- moylan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@smokester
fashion police?
somebody wandered into the wrong site! :-) if they had a blue tooth version i'd have already got one! i reckon a good 10%+ here would wear one in public! - Abyss_908, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1and I thought the MS natural series was wierd..........I had to almost learn how to type again on those before I went back to a standard one.
- Darthmalt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.mic-innovations.com/mi/details.cfm?id=KB730X
My keyboard love it to death but I dont know if they sell it anymore.
As a side note its the same one mal used in serenity to upload the miranda video. I was sitting in the theatre and almost shouted HEY thats my keyboard. - trilioth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This Strory Just showed up today on Cnet News. I was going to submit it, but i found it here already and being six days old.
- kden, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I would so use that virtual laser keyboard.
- stealurface, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the frogpad looks nice, i dont know if it would be practical to use though.
- Nymo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I Heard That The Laser Keyboard Was Crap..
It Wasn't Too Responsive At Times, Requires Use On Certain Surfaces, And Feels Strange To Use.. - glassjoe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3AlphaGrip 5 (ftw)

- jabbilabbi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Proud to day the laser Virtual Keyboard was invented @ the university of British Columbia (a guy in my Computing Science class has one also.)
- achoi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes, buckle spring keyboards are the BEST. Too bad they are soo expensive... I hear there are several manufacturers that make buckle spring keyboards, but they just don't 'feel' like the keyboards of old... Ah, here is the url: http://www.pckeyboard.com/
Looks like the price went down a bit. Time to buy some keyboards... - m85476585, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1How many top 10 weirdest ... posts are there?

7. - gooru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've used the Twiddler in the past for wearable computer projects. In fact, three of the keyboards mentioned here are popular in the wearable computer crowd.
- pauldonnelly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why was this -digged? It was my first thought too when I saw the headline. I think it should have been in there. They might have also included a chordal keyboard like the BAT or something.
- diggnationdevon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1All of them are weird except the roll-up keyboard, which is pretty cool lol
- ThankTheCheese, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2he made a mistake,
the #8 keyboard is actually mine, I just aciddentially left it on the dashboard of my car on a hot day ;)
btw, has anyone ever tried typing on one of those roll-out keyboards? it's just impossible. Doesn't feel right -- you need that "click" action. - Eran9000, on 12/20/2008, -0/+1These are awesome, there are so many different ones. I found some more Cool Geeky Computer Keyboards here: http://www.walyou.com/blog/2008/08/12/14-most-weir ...
- Anoobis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah I've got one too, saw it and thought wow that would be great for my secondary computer that's normally out of the way. But in short - no. The keys are horrible to type on and I've now bought a £2 rigid keyboard from ebuyer - 10 times better.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh it's so nice to see the ZX Spectrum after all these years... it brings back so many memories.
- moylan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i wsa really keen when i first saw this but unforunately it has a short battery life just over 1.5 hours if i remember. i did a quick google for the reviews i read back then but couldn't find it.
http://reviews.zdnet.co.uk/hardware/inputdevices/0,39023905,39165419,00.htm - alexisefisher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1When I saw the Frogpad and the Twiddler, I assumed that they were intended to be used by people who might only have one hand to work with. I mean, if I were an amputee, I would definitely invest the 6-10 hours to learn to use the Frogpad and not have to deal with regular keyboards.
- stinkyj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i use this... http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wo/1.RSLID?mco=BBE51B76&nplm=M9034LL%2FA
i miss this... http://www.clickykeyboards.com/index.cfm/fa/items.main/parentcat/9934/subcatid/0/id/149424
and i want this...http://www.artlebedev.com/portfolio/optimus/ - illu45, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Some of those look quite weird... Not entirely sure why you'd want something like the FrogPad or the twiddler (which does indeed look painful). Still, the laser keyboard is quite awesome.
- Kazanoe, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4does the laser one have skin burning capabilities?
if so, that would be like, the greatest tattoo ever, I could have a keyboard on my stomache! - neuroanatomist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The IBM model M keyboard.
The One True Keyboard.
http://www.clickykeyboards.com/ - Doophq, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The optimus keyboard looks very cool. Sucks that the mini-optimus keyboard cost $100. I can only imagine how much a full keyboard set will be?
- WiteNoiz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Too right!
After the batteries died in my wireless keyboard six months ago, I finally asked the question: Why do I need a wireless keyboard? I understand a wireless mouse where the cable gets in the way, but keyboard?
So I picked up my model M and have been using that ever since.
The only thing I miss from my wireless is the media buttons, but I could always buy the mini Optimus for that ;) - brownspank, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Someone threw a regular keyboard into the fireplace, fished it out, and came up with #8.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For God's sake put it UNDER your shirt sleeve though, and roll up your sleeve when needed
/fashion police - jeremyngu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1i need the laser key board
