- techdever, on 11/03/2009, -0/+34Ugh, classmates.com ads are the main reason I installed adblock
- chinaman1212, on 11/03/2009, -0/+25We had a meeting and decided to take you out of the loop. sorry. its not you, its us.
- AndrewWiggin, on 11/03/2009, -3/+23Nice, an infographic done properly.
Can't believe there are so many sites I haven't heard of with over 10 million people. Then again, I guess we have to keep in mind we're probably counting accounts, not actual people. I have a bunch of misc. accounts on the web in places I've totally forgotten about. - chinaman1212, on 11/03/2009, -0/+17yeah....digg
- bigteebo, on 11/03/2009, -1/+17Classmates.com had 50 million? SHea right, they probably just copied almuni lists from around America. and claimed they all were their users.Nobody was willing to pay for it.
- centran, on 11/03/2009, -0/+142 of which are adultfriendfinder employee's posing as actual users.
- swagv, on 11/03/2009, -1/+15Only in the presses. Otherwise it's no bigger than Bebo.
- veins, on 11/03/2009, -3/+16how can there possibly be 200,000,00 ppl on a site i've never heard of?
- acegi, on 11/03/2009, -0/+12there's a website for 200 million crybabies?
- KroniKFpLiOnYkD, on 11/03/2009, -0/+12Shh, don't tell classmates.com they no longer matter.
- namslam, on 11/03/2009, -0/+12only OGs had friendster
- gizram84, on 11/03/2009, -0/+10No (if that's even a question).
- noncn4mst, on 11/03/2009, -0/+9curious about Pandora
- DOCNM, on 11/03/2009, -1/+8so maybe you can help me:
I thought that the size of the circle is the number of users as of today and the position the start up year. But that wouldn't make sense for defunct sites. So what is it? Peak size at start up time? Peak size at peak time (also unlikely, as all sites that have not peaked yet, should be place on the today line)?
Is it the center of the circle that define the startup time, or it's uppermost point?
And what are the colors? - harinezumi, on 11/04/2009, -0/+6And the third one is a very frustrated lesbian.
- Dimalinch, on 11/03/2009, -0/+4no mention of Meetup.com?
- alpha88, on 11/04/2009, -0/+4The main reason I use adblock is for those stupid talking emoticons. "SAY SOMETHING!" "WHAAAAAAT?!"
- drex8, on 11/03/2009, -0/+3I've never even heard of some of these sites. Habbo.com?
- scy1192, on 11/03/2009, -0/+3Twitter is on the list between 2006 and 2007 with 44.5 million
- JoannaLord, on 11/03/2009, -0/+3absolutely great graphics :) and yes lets leave classmates to their once existing fame... ha.
- bigteebo, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2Worst navigation EVAR.
- braditude101, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2Am I the only one who read this as "The Sonic Boom" ?
- techdever, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2what about OGC and OGX ?
- seshomarusamma, on 11/04/2009, -0/+22009 - kaixin001.com

(Chinese facebook clone) - Codeman917, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2"Did you see that?"
"Yeah!"
"What's Habbo?"
"I figure it's some site's name... some site called Habbo." - barbapapa78, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2I agree, it was actually very confusing.
- Catchpen, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2Yeah the Geocities of the social web 1.2
- 4NDr01D, on 11/03/2009, -0/+1tribe ?
- Catchpen, on 11/03/2009, -1/+2The irony of the "Social Boom" created by introverted reclusive programmers.
- ubermensch00, on 11/03/2009, -1/+2the only social networking sites that aren't blocked by the Great Firewall of China are live.com and qq.com. Their messengers are also the only ones that work.
- TipsyMongoose, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1Obsolete graph is obsolete.
- ak666jk, on 11/03/2009, -0/+1What a cruel, cruel irony...
- Snoogs, on 11/03/2009, -1/+2Buried for inaccuracy: Twitter is way bigger than that. In the 'internet age', statistics are useless if they are more than a week old.
- techdever, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1Oh yeah, that too
- ubermensch00, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1I've never been to China, I just talk to people there. live.com is msn though. I imagine it's only a matter of time before authorities there block digg. I can't imagine them actually allowing free thought and opinion voting of news. and really, a sure fire way to get it blocked, would be to post a single article about the dalai lama or tibetan independence, then it'd be goodbye digg.
- LowROI, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1Here's something messed up. QQ is like the myspace/msn/AIM of China. Everyone here uses it, from teens to businesses to people advertising their CS/WoW groups. There's games and IMing, but the bundle comes loaded with malware. Everyone here just accepts it, and just shrugs it off like having malware is just part of owning a PC. I hate QQ so much :(
- LowROI, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1Uhhh, that's just not true. I'm on MSN/Pidgin/Skype right now. Not to mention Digg. Facebook, youtube, myspace (I think but i never had a myspace) and imageshack are all blocked though.
- lochness, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1more likely they are counting sites from the other 92% of the planet that's NOT the USA...
- Mothh, on 11/04/2009, -0/+12001...............Meetup.com.....5,700,000
- stevenstorms, on 11/06/2009, -0/+0***** XANGA! I forgot that existed, brb deleting my suicide poems
- Duncan3, on 11/03/2009, -0/+0It's spot the trend... let me try...
They were/are all just fads worth billions of Internet dollars looking for a sucker to buy them for real dollars before they tank. - inactive, on 11/04/2009, -0/+0WEll...it is the OLY one that has made a profit so far. (And probably ever.)
It has far more users than Digg. So..go figure. - VodkaHero, on 11/03/2009, -2/+2Hey guys, remember Myspace?
- nepidae, on 11/03/2009, -3/+2Ok?
- OGla, on 11/03/2009, -3/+2What's Facebook?
- iBleeedOrange, on 11/04/2009, -2/+1So is India
- locaz0r, on 11/03/2009, -9/+4If 2009 was on this graph twitter would take up everything?
- ghouze, on 11/03/2009, -10/+1Ah Gawd -- not another 'infographic' --

What is Digg?
