- mike_p, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2How is this article in the wonderful category of "deals"? I've got an idea... Let's submit an article with the correct category.
*sigh* More Steve Jobs... why not make him Jesus Christ around these parts; he's worshipped just as much =/ - driverseven, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Great -- someone else who cuts to the front of the line at DisneyWorld.
- AndrewMayne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Some of the facts are wrong. Paramount bought Dreamworks SKG, but not Dreamworks Animation (a separate company). The Paramount deal gives it distribution rights for Dreamworks Animation, but it's not a Paramount property (Shrek, etc.)
The "expert" consulted for the article asks why Disney doesn't just offer John Lasseter $100 million to go make movie for them. Lasseter has options on a million shares of Pixar. Getting him to walk away wouldn't be that easy. - thecoolestcow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm really getting sick of all the Apple, iPod and Jobs coverage, or just how they all keep getting to the front page. Every single thing dealing with Apple goes to the front page. There really needs to be a better mod system.
- vtcarl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that should have read "Deals does not equal Mergers
i am now enrolling in html kindergarten - frankenc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why is this in the 'Deals' category?! AAAHH!
- Tweekster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0why is this in deals?
- vtcarl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0one more time, submitter....

go back to category kindergarten - deepsub, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Echoing what others have said...
Jobs has become what Gates most desires to be, a media magnate... Both of them are rich beyond their wlidest dreams, but Jobs is, for now, is winning their personal competitiveness, and it must really piss Gates off.
In spite of the wealth and power of Microsoft, scappy little Apple has risen from the dead and is sticking it to Microsoft on multiple fronts, and doing it with style, shrewndness and flawlessness in execution not seen at Apple, well, never. Pixar has captured the hearts and mind share of almost everyone who has seen their movies. And, in an interesting twist of history, Jobs has risen as almost Palpatine-like figure with a company that, in historical perspective, was almost given to him by George Lucas. As I understand it, he'll have a lot of say so at Disney. Take that Eisner.
Everytime a Jobs controlled entity has lurched in size or influence, it has done so in the face unexpectedness (Apple, NeXT, 68K->PPC, PPC->X86, iPod, iMac) and that has given each transition an aire of excitement and boldness that fuels Apple fandom and strengthens its brand.
Jobs is a risk taker for the sake of taking risks, but somewhere in that LSD-crossbarred neural net of his, he has a plan, and it beginning to look like Jobs will achive one of his long sought goals after all... to be the next Sony.
As a 25+ year follower of MS/Apple, this decade has been damned interesting. - chrism1128, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Windows sucks, but Steve Jobs is a *****!
- sidyadav, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0>> ooh.. pixar for $7B is a hot deal
I totally agree. If you imagine eBay bought Skype for near 1/3rd of that, it's a pretty good deal for Disney. In fact I think eBay was ripped off, for sure. - Gigadafud, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0anyone else here think that Steve Jobs is ONLY a master and telling idiots that he is a genius?! I think the man is an iMoron.
- elpayo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I knew I should have bought Pixar stock. Oh well, at least I bought Apple nice and low.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0good read

- kazsymonds, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Jobs can sod off, hes the only thing i hate about digg, all the MAC Lusers (see what i did) bum him like hes Jenna Jameson.
GROW UP!! you dont see everyone who actually likes a proper OS going on about Gates or Linux do you.
I wish people who dugg would be unbiased, if i wanted someone elses opinion i would have read the times. - kiwimonk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Gates is my Mr Incredible. Stable, able, and can kick ass with a data cable.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Go around Rupert Murdoch's house for lunch?
This is lame.
