- techresearcher, on 03/19/2008, -11/+110***** THE RIAA!
(please, I never got to do it) - jakash, on 03/19/2008, -5/+88Its not provided completely 'free of charge', here in the UK we pay a TV Licence which goes to the BBC, so you peeps from round the world can enjoy the service. As a Brit, one of the things I'm most proud of in the UK is the BBC, and being able to contribute to the best service in the world... your welcome.
- dmacmattack, on 03/19/2008, -1/+39Thank you.
- LemonDefragger, on 03/19/2008, -3/+32Darn, am I the only one who still hasn't said it? I should get on this.
- gudnbluts, on 03/20/2008, -0/+23"better ***** cameras"
It's probably the conversion from PAL to NTSC for the Americans that's the problem, not the cameras. We have higher resolution than you, but you have more frames a second. - oesj, on 03/19/2008, -3/+24tell us what you think is a better service, or be buried :P
- FDDIcent, on 03/19/2008, -0/+17I'm an American and I use RSS feeds to keep up with news from CNN and BBC simultaneously and I have to say that the BBC usually gets a story on their front page with quite a bit of detail a few hours before CNN puts up a headline and a few paragraphs about it.
- nathos, on 03/19/2008, -0/+13ever heard of rottentomatoes.com?
- plingboot, on 03/20/2008, -0/+12Might be worth mentioning that the bbc world service, which this broadcast originates from, isn't funded from the licence fee its government funded.
Still, I suppose we're paying for it indirectly through taxes. money well spent imo. - asdfrewq, on 03/20/2008, -0/+11Ahem. By "government funded" you surely mean "taxpayer funded" in which case we do indeed pay for the ABC.
- kinseyincanada, on 03/19/2008, -1/+12thats why they have film reviews, and trailers, also in kost cases if you leave the film early enough you can get your money back
- PhonicUK, on 03/20/2008, -0/+11The BBC is free, minus the TV licence for UK occupants.
- Derrekito, on 03/20/2008, -0/+9I love the Brits!
- syroncoda, on 03/19/2008, -8/+17its not about "piracy" or making money off audio/visual entertainment. its about information and the freedom to express and present it to all people. im not a pirate. im a data leech.
- peterhunt, on 03/19/2008, -3/+11No, you actually are. It costs money to create the 1s and 0s. Because one has invested money in creating the information (for example, A/V entertainment), that information does have an inherent value. People who profess freedom of expression usually talk about political suppression. When you're talking about A/V entertainment, you are actually just too cheap to buy it and would rather steal.
YES: it's just like stealing a DVD. The ONLY reason people justify piracy is because the duplication costs are nil, so not only is it easy to pirate, people don't consider it stealing. - Jeffler, on 03/20/2008, -1/+9

SEED PLZZZZ - seravi, on 03/19/2008, -1/+9Keep going this way and soon employer will want you to "refund" the money they paid you just because they are not satisfied ^_^
- mrsteveman1, on 03/20/2008, -0/+8The $4500 hookers in NYC have that one covered already.
- HonoredMule, on 03/19/2008, -2/+10In soviet America, RIAA ***** you.
- Misaiato, on 03/19/2008, -11/+18If I buy something from Walmart and decide I don't like it - I can take it back and get a refund. If I watch some ***** film that was over-hyped at the theatre - it's going to take a bloody battle for me to get my money back.
Make refunds easier and I'll stop leeching. Until then, I don't see why you get a guaranteed sum of money for a product I might very well hate. - Lazydriver, on 03/19/2008, -1/+8We appreciate it. I love Louie Theroux's documentaries.
- Markpdotcom, on 03/20/2008, -1/+8Thats the same in America isn't it? :D
- Sputs, on 03/20/2008, -2/+9You Missed Capitalizing one Of The Words
- salmonmoose, on 03/19/2008, -1/+8I'd like to congratulate Australia's ABC here for helping the BBC through the years, run in a similar fashion, except we don't pay a licence (it's government funded).
- sethpr, on 03/20/2008, -1/+7In USA too!
- doebob11, on 03/20/2008, -1/+7I would gladly pay a small fee to have access to the "real" BBC here in America. I'm sure many other individuals would as well: the news here is a farce.
- brainache, on 03/20/2008, -0/+6Surely on purpose - english capitalisation, as I am supposed to teach it, only capitalises all words except short words such as prepositions or articles. The to is a preposition so shouldn't be capitalised?
I am not sure, however, why the second 'to' is capitalised. - pipop, on 03/20/2008, -0/+5speaking from experience on working on post production for big bbc shows, they are post produced in pal then converted to ntsc for bbc america
- HonoredMule, on 03/19/2008, -0/+5You've got it backwards.
- inactive, on 03/20/2008, -0/+5I love the BBC. thank you for being so awesome. :D
- psevium, on 03/20/2008, -0/+5Maybe im on my own, but the BBC is THE single news authority I trust. I'm not saying there is others, I just don't know about others.
- Niightwitch, on 03/20/2008, -1/+6"Make refunds easier and I'll stop leeching"? Who are you *****? You're still going to leech no matter how easy they make refunding.
- jotty, on 03/20/2008, -2/+7yeah thats standards conversion for you. it looks rubbish.
- A11YND, on 03/20/2008, -3/+8Not just in Soviet Russia..
the RIAA ***** you anywhere. - Acronym, on 03/20/2008, -1/+6I'm waiting for the day that digg is going to run on the bitorrent protocol
- adriantr, on 03/20/2008, -0/+5No. Because other TV stations have ads/commercials on them, whereas in the UK all BBC shows are broadcast without any advertisements. So BBC gets money from the licence fee, all the other stations get money from their ads.
- error2k2, on 03/20/2008, -0/+5The BBC is the largest broadcasting corporation in the world(and has been for decades). It's even starting an Arabic channel to compete with al-Jazeera in the Middle East and North Africa.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/72880 ... - Mejogid, on 03/20/2008, -1/+6Taxes are different from a license - the license is required to own a TV and is a specific annual charge (ie. everyone contributes the same amount), government funds can vary and will effectively vary depending on how many taxes you pay. It's a subtle distinction, but he never claimed ABC wasn't "taxpayer funded" or paid for by Australians.
- zimmermans, on 03/20/2008, -0/+5The RIAA can't ***** anyone in soviet russia dude. sovereignty. jurisdiction. overused jokes...
- Jeffler, on 03/20/2008, -1/+5Seed rick roll comment plzzzz
- inactive, on 03/19/2008, -0/+4?
- Parkinsons, on 03/20/2008, -2/+6This podcast seemed to focus on people selling others IP. There is a big difference between selling someone else's song and listening to someone's song for free.
- PhonicUK, on 03/20/2008, -1/+5...you in sovient russia
- piXelatedEmpire, on 03/20/2008, -0/+4dugg for your plea
- Morality, on 03/20/2008, -0/+4Here's how it works. You say piracy or The Pirate bay is bad, you get dugg down.
- Niightwitch, on 03/20/2008, -0/+3What?
- Morality, on 03/20/2008, -1/+4***** the RIAA
- warriorscot, on 03/20/2008, -0/+3Get a computer then and download TV shows you want to watch you can get most things worth watching from one place or another online, or just get a USB TV tuner card which the liscensing folks don't look for.
- peterhunt, on 03/20/2008, -0/+3Agreed.
- ZigVicious, on 03/20/2008, -1/+4that happens here too...
