- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -12/+280Forgive us pirate bay, our government is so tied up with corrupt Hollywood that they think they can run the world. I wouldn't be surprised if they're paying off swedes to pass new laws in their favor as well.

Same here in America. Stay strong Pirate Bay. - antitab, on 10/13/2007, -28/+161***** THE MPAA

I second that motion - Jumboto, on 10/10/2007, -8/+128Don't piss off Bush! He will replace terrorists and evil doers with Pirates in his speeches and the red states will all tremble in fear.
Then he will start the war on terror pirates. - inactive, on 10/13/2007, -4/+113Wow, if this keeps up, The US is going to have to stop trading with Sweden for their... ummm..... Bikini Models? DAMN!
- pirotess, on 10/10/2007, -4/+99The U.S. government is nothing more than big business' little bitch.
- bromac, on 10/10/2007, -6/+73Classic America thinking: if other people have different laws than us, then they should change them to be the same!
In some nations, personal rights trump commercial rights. As it SHOULD be. - FRANKeB, on 10/10/2007, -1/+59Neither is the US government.
- hadees, on 10/10/2007, -2/+49I hear an echo
- editthis, on 10/13/2007, -9/+50I love what TPB stands for, however the site is useless. I must have ten sites I'll check for torrents before them.
- bromac, on 10/10/2007, -4/+40Downloaders aren't terrorists. ***** you and your straw man.
Next up you'll be advocating the US invade Las Vegas because apparently Americans are going there and paying for sex!
And yes, you should leave people in other countries be. Haven't you learned from Iraq? - theotheragentm, on 10/10/2007, -1/+33You can't buy votes against Sweden. Ask Microsoft.
- goldenratiophi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+32Digg's new comment system has the neat function of not displaying comments after they're posted. Funny enough, both are getting dugg up. Feel free to digg this one down.
- Cayfox, on 10/13/2007, -4/+35They're a high tech society - they buy and produce a lot of technology, and they sell America a lot of medicine

- Amnesia10, on 10/10/2007, -1/+30For all the American Diggers these comments are not aimed at American individuals, all criticism re America is aimed at your government and those that run it. Also the MPAA and RIAA really need to look at the issues as to why people pirate copyrighted material. If they do not make it available at a decent price then of course some will download it.
- STARTSOMETHING, on 10/10/2007, -3/+30Their's terrorists in the pirate bay. We must stop their reign of terror.
freedom, yada, yada
G. Bush - terrordome, on 10/12/2007, -7/+31The view of America in Europe has been a little less than favorable for quite some time now. I don't think a new president will change that a whole lot.
- bromac, on 10/10/2007, -1/+21No, you implied that I would agree with nations harbouring terrorists because I'm against the US projecting its legal system into other sovereign nations. These two arguments do NOT correlate, so to suggest that is a straw man.
And every ounce of music I download in Canada is paid for by the Copyright Levy and is perfectly legit. So keep you and your judgemental insecure American worldview to yourself. - Me1000, on 10/13/2007, -0/+19lets not forget their bro...
***** THE RIAA! - aadnk, on 10/10/2007, -1/+20Maybe, but their tracker is still supporting 50% of all public torrents out there. A shut-down would be noticeable.
- cryptocom, on 10/10/2007, -0/+18bleh...i'm strapped to a ***** phone, trying to tell stupid people crap that they don't want to hear about stuff that they pay for...Customer Service is a bitch...I can't afford to buy a movie for 50.00....OR a video game for 50.00...OR the 600.00 console to run it on...so guess what...yep...a-downloading-i-go.
when the cavernous gap between the wealthy and the just-getting-by shrinks, maybe i'll start buying crap.
until then...whatever. - lcmatt, on 10/10/2007, -4/+21The US government is losing popularity every day in Europe

Don't think they where popular to start with. - gendjinn, on 10/12/2007, -7/+24The US have been despised and hated in Europe long before Bush II and that will continue long after. There really is only a papers width of difference between the dems and reps on foreign policy and that is what the rest of the world judges your country on.
We remember El Salvador, Guatamala, Nicaragua, Chile, Argentina, Indonesia, your government's support for apartheid South Africa, for Somoza, for Markos, for Pinochet, for Zia.... the list is pretty much endless. - kingrooster, on 10/10/2007, -4/+21It is refreshing to see someone willing to stand up in civil disobedience despite its potential legal (or illegal...) ramifications some day.

- williamdyer, on 10/10/2007, -10/+26If the Pirate Bay closes, the neocons win.
- UnstableMind, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16I can picture Ghoulianni now, Pirates, Pirates, Pirates, pirates, PIRATES, pirates, pirates, Pirates, 9/11, pirates, 9/11, Pirates, September 11th.
- yodaj007, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14Sweden has already raided their servers. They weren't down very long before they were already up and running in another country. It's not that easy to shut them down, dude.
- MrClownn, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16Give me a ***** break. They're taking money away from smaller artists? How about the RIAA that OWNS any artist that signs a recording deal and does everything they can to drive independent labels out of business? Or the MPAA that does everything in their power to hold back intelligent film en lieu of mind numbing shlock? Or any other number of huge corporate conglomerates that would decide what is good for you to watch and listen to?
The majority of people that use torrent sites are not downloading independent *****, they're downloading MAJOR RELEASES and those people NEED something to show them that the consumer should decide what sells and what doesn't, not the corporation.
TPB is doing far less harm than the corporations that distribute this ***** for massive profits in the first place. Yes, they're in it for financial gain (who isn't?) but that doesn't mean they're keeping Johnny ***** fans from buying his latest album.
Most people who support an artist will give them money as appreciation for their hard work and effort. The latest Michael Bay movie will make ass chunks of money whether or not 10,000 people download his latest attempt at making a good film. - kevisazombie, on 10/12/2007, -6/+20yeah because the next election is going to make up for the previous two...
- instabil, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15“The bottom line is that the operators of The Pirate Bay, and others like them, are criminals who profit handsomely by facilitating the distribution of millions of copyrighted creative works.”
The bottom line is that hosting a tracker isn't illegal in Sweden. A bittorrent tracker is just a search engine. The only thing TPB hosts is .torrent-files which contain no copyright protected information.
By that logic, even Google should be considered "criminals" by linking to TPB... - dext3r, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15Mmm, iron-y.
- bromac, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13Bought and paid for.
Could someone return Bush to them though? He seems to be lost... - Breepee, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13As a matter of fact, you should let people in other countries do what is legal there. It's another country remember?
Or were you just trying to drag 9/11 into a discussion about TPB to make your point? Not working. For starters, people were killed in 9/11, quite different from downloading movies. Also, the US has had its chance to go after Bin Laden/ Al Qaeda. Didn't work, didn't find them and now appear to be using 9/11 as an excuse to systematically purge the Mideast of (economically) undesired elements. So this so called war on terror is really more about comparing dicksize and oil than anything else.
So get out with you 'terrorists'. You have NO CLUE what you're talking about. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15...Says the guy on digg
Did you pay for the newspaper article you have just read?
Did you pay to access this website for the service that was given to you?
Welcome to the age of technology– where things can be done faster, easier, and cheaper than previously imagined.
You can watch a DVD at a friend's house without having to pay for the DVD. But if you download it– you are a criminal?
You can listen to a song at a club free of charge, but if you download it and listen to it on your personal device– you are a criminal.
I can go on and on... please try to change your overdue mindset into something a little more progressive. - Me1000, on 10/10/2007, -3/+16If bush said it, it would of been "Their's"
- JUDDERMAN2429, on 10/12/2007, -10/+22I think it will take much longer than that...

(not a rick roll) - sockdemon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12You can only push your customers so far before they break, and by break I mean steal your content. The entertainment industry has always managed to garner healthy profits, even when faced with such disastrous technologies as VHS, but they always do it through some form of adaptation; if they fail to adapt, they will die, and a new form of entertainment, perhaps podcasts or other advertisement and sponsorship based media, will take over. If that happens, it won't matter to us, the customer, as we will still be provided with quality content; the onus is on the big media companies to change their business model and provide a service that customers actually want, at a price they can afford, and with the rights they expect.
- InfamousAtheist, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13You really think so? Guess what?
You fail!
Provide a valid source (third party, not from the entertainment industry) that shows money lost.
If you take the time to read something and actually think for yourself (I know, I know, I'm asking an awful lot), you might find that the availability of free content actually *increases* the artist's & label's profits.

http://techdirt.com/articles/20041216/1222200.shtml - daftman, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12People dig you down because you sound like a ***** *****. What makes you think it is a loophole? Just because it is unfavorable to RIAA, MPAA it suddenly turn into a loop hole. How is it different from RIAA, MPAA using loopholes in extending copyright to 150+ years or stipulating that fair use is a loophole.
Are you are Swedish law expert, International Copyright law expert, or just some dumbass trolling on forum trying to sound ***** different and insightful? My guess is your the latter. If you don't like the digg population mentality then you are free to ***** off and go die quietly somewhere. Your ***** existence make me feel shameful for being an Aussie. - keeganspeck, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12I hope all you Europeans know that the vast majority of US citizens do not support our government's actions. If there were a revolt, I would gladly join in, and we would kick our government's bureaucratic ass. I know I've thought about it. We aren't self righteous ***** like a lot make us out to be. At least, that's the sentiment here in the non- south/midwest.
