- MCMookie, on 10/11/2007, -1/+71If you've never seen it, the pirate bays legal threats section is hilarious:
http://thepiratebay.org/legal - aknowles5139, on 10/11/2007, -2/+55Not the first time I've seen that title...
If they get "shut down" there just going to do the same thing they always do. Move to another country. - dgblackout, on 10/11/2007, -0/+32the pirate bay will never die.
now all they need is their own island... - ECas123, on 10/11/2007, -1/+32There is a god...and he just put on his eye patch and peg leg!
- Canumbler, on 10/11/2007, -1/+27As terribly cliche as this sounds it's about what they represent, more than anything else.
- jtablerd, on 10/11/2007, -0/+16AAARGH!!!!
- afruff23, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17But they have the most badass logo.
- Shad0wSP, on 10/11/2007, -2/+17My personal favorite, from "Peter Pehrson - enya.com / Warner Music:"
the end of their email:
"Also please note that making this email public or ridiculing it will
result in immediate legal action and we are also contacting RipeNCC for
suspension."
They foresaw what was coming.
The response is great: http://static.thepiratebay.org/enya_response.txt - tyler1175, on 10/11/2007, -8/+20I don't see why everyone on digg loves the pirate bay so much their search engine sucks and you don't get as good speeds compared to private sites like demonoid and bitsoup.
- 4040, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14That's pretty sad if you're bragging about being a member of a torrent website. I guess you're the unlucky one who's a complete loser.
- antonio97b, on 10/11/2007, -2/+13I put on my robe and wizard hat...
- akexakex, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10HEY! We don't want Bush here!.. keep him over there... :)
- txtphile, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11Bush and Cheney need TPB's legal team. And to live in Sweden.
- SerifTheRobot, on 10/11/2007, -4/+12Hip hip...
- 1iProd, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Is this REALLY a surprise? I mean, it's the e Pirate Bay after all...
- muskymax, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7sweet!! I always loved the Pirate Bay site!!
- Rodehodeh, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8Long Live The Pirate Bay
- CyberGlitch, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Sweden sucks? It's because of countries like Sweden that the Pirate Bay can exist as it does.
- Murdats, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5exactly, how do you think we can afford expensive hobbies like video games, collectable card games, manga, comics and our various other geeky hobbies?
being a geek doesnt come cheap - KMartSheriff, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Except they didn't have child porn to being with...
- HappyScrappy, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8Apparently zeropaid.com gets ad revenue for spreading false rumors and then correcting them.
Lame. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Don't be jealous of the 1337 pirates who actually know where to get their *****, therefore not needing to buy it. Seriously, this ***** lame ass insult about "not having the money to buy their software" is pathetic. I have enough money to buy any software, movie, or game that I want, I just choose not to.
- hixsonj, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Not only are they not shutting down, but their starting their own lawsuits now?? These guys have cast iron balls.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Wow, big surprise. I don't know who the ***** actually thought it would be shut down, after the numerous attempts.
- CenturionD, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me...
- jimmiss, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4FYI, most nerds are loaded.
- actorboy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4You should get a job with the RIAA then.
- swavalier711, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6thanks for playing the role of the guy who makes the usual disproven comment in every pirating article.
No really, keep up the good work. - SeBBBe, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3False rumors? It was on Swedish national TV. And they dont usually report false rumors from random sites.
- elizabethmuelle, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3You're a moron, there are no RUMORS, only what those Pirate Bay guys have said for themselves.
- ScottMaximus1, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2The Internet Coolguy is back again
- MercedRocks, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Are they rumors if they come straight from TPB in the first place?
1. Swedish Police will CENSOR The Pirate Bay (July 6)
http://blog.brokep.com/2007/07/06/swedish-police-will-censor-the-pirate-bay/
2. Police take credit wrongfully (July 9)
(Short translation to english: The child porn filter list distributed this week will NOT contain the pirate bay)
http://thepiratebay.org/blog/78
Lame. :) - KyleGoetz, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3The Pirate Bay was never going to be shut down. It was going to be added to a blacklist some Swedish ISPs follow voluntarily.
- Murdats, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2yeah, but false claims tend to sort of defuse that bomb.
TPB hosts NO content, thus it hosts no child porn.
to use a much used analogy. its like a guy asking you for crack, and you say if you go down 2 blocks and turn left, about 300 metres on your right will be a guy who can hook you up, then the cops jumping out and arresting you for selling crack - aB0z, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Kevin? you mean Kevin Rose? I'm sure he's glad they are sticking around NOT SO THAT HE CAN STEAL CONTENT, but rather so that IP law reform continues to be in the public eye. Public awareness of events like these is very important.
- Azimuth1, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3On an island in the sun...
- actorboy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Witty retort.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5Riiight. Keep thinking that. And yeah, actually, if ***** gas was $1.00 a gallon, I would buy from someone who sells child porn, it's a lot better than ***** $3.19 a gallon. And it's not like we'd be buying the porn, so shut the ***** up you dumb *****.
- championchap, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Considering the number of torrents the site indexes you would have thought they would put more time into features and fixes for their site rather than.. oh i duno.. making another image hosting site.
- SomeImagination, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Wow if thats true you better hope you don't get prosocuted
- Fobmyxeer, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3That is not the fact. Sure people can upload it but child pornography is one of the things the moderators remove when found and/or reported.
- foreplay, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I don't think they are intentionally distributing child porn but have a look at some of the torrents on that site and there is defiently some very shady stuff. http://thepiratebay.org/top/603 check out the top 100 pic torrents. can you honestly tell me these are legal in places like america. this is probably enough to get them blacklisted in plenty of countries. remember folks they are only linking up people who have and want this content but that is enough in plenty of western countries to get them busted.
- championchap, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18800 GTX Ultra in SLI with 4 gig of RAM a terrabyte of HDD space in RAID 0 and a socket F dual Opteron board anyone?
You need to have cash pouring out of your eye sockets to be able to afford total geekyness! - aB0z, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Well actually, it's the equivalent of someone duplicating goods at no cost and distributing them for free, with the only victim being people that SUPPOSEDLY would have sold the goods for a profit, had the goods not been available for free.
And laughing at the police. that part is true. - actorboy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Which accusations are you talking about?
- HappyScrappy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Absolutely everything you see on TV is true. Never forget that.
- Solkre, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1In other words we're waiting for laws to be written to make indexing illegal content illegal.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Wow. You showed me. Linking to two more blogs. It must be true.
- bioskope, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1are you freaking ignorant or did you not see the urls there happyscrappy
- Jezper, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Those aren't false accusations.
